Finally starting to work on a post, unfortunately I dont got no heal magic besides disease/condition removal - but I think I'm going to try and stabilize the elder. Was going to try and Bard Buff Alder or the bear but....saving him seems more important D: Since I don't know 5th edition fully but if he has two saves left or die then I assume in two rounds hel be dead if he keeps failing. EDIT: Question though SuperCommando - am I allowed to Bardic Inspiration myself? I don't think I can but wanted to ask to be sure. Try to get the best roll possible on the medicine Check I was going to try and do.

You cannot Bardic Inspiration yourself, no. But remember, you do have that DM Inspiration that gives you Advantage should you choose to expend it. Also, keep in mind we do have Huka's dwarf Lorban who is a Cleric. He knows Spare the Dying and Cure Wounds, either of which will save Doran. Since Huka is unavailable until further notice and left Lorban in my control, you and I could work out how we want to handle the situation. If you want I can have Lorban take care of Doran so that you're free to do other things. Or you can try to stabilize the old man yourself. What do you think? As to the flavor of how the target escapes the hold depends on what you think fits the situation. Otherwise I would say the vine crumbles away after the turn ends. Okay, let's just have it crumble then. You can have that happen at the start of your next post. (Or mine, whichever comes first).

Ohhh I forgot about the Dwarf Cleric, that works great then so I can start to play some awesome battle music for Mr Bugbear > When I post I'll just have Gonff notice that the dwarf is moving to heal before I start to inspire some allies.

You know what? Why don't you play some battle music, like, literally. Grab a blood-pumping youtube video and link it like I do for any other BGM. I was actually trying to find a good "generic battle music" to link during encounters, but haven't decided on one yet. So, since you're the Bard after all, why don't you go for it.

o.o
Dunno if I can find one with flutes in it but I'll give it a shot XD
EDIT: Nevermind I have found some good ones ;D, they have some other instruments in them too but hey Bard magic can probably make some of that stuff happen.

I thought that this just sounded a tad uncanny that I thought I'd put this here. It's pretty interesting.

Here's a decent one for your list Faclan; Korpiklaani uses flutes a lot but usually in a pretty badass way compared to what people traditionally think of for flute music. SuperCommando, I can send you the Warlords of Draenor album over Skype for you to listen to if you'd like, it is nineteen badass instrumental pieces that could probably work for some of the settings we'll probably face at some point in-game. I'll probably end up perusing the rest of my instrumental collection and send you YouTube links to some of the better ones if you'd like.

Here's a decent one for your list Faclan ; One word: Yes. Good stuff, Beta. Probably going to use that at some point. Sure! That'd be really cool. I don't have skype, but I'd gladly welcome any links you're willing to dig up for me. In other news, I'll start writing an update for both sessions and get those posted sometime tomorrow. Even though not everybody has reacted yet, I'm going to keep things moving. In fact, I feel as if I've been too generous (or lazy, take your pick) with the span of time between updates so far. I think I'm going to try to push the pace a little.

So, Chapter 2 players...
I'm debating whether to give you guys a combat encounter just to kill a little time since you don't appear to be doing much talking. Then again, I'm thinking Chapter 1 might wrap up soon. So what do you think? Start a late combat, or would you rather just finish up quick and take a break until Chapter 1 concludes?
Either way, once both current sessions are done I'll start Chapter 3 with all players arriving in Red Lark.

I personally have no idea what's going on in Chpt. 2 since I ain't translating the dragon speak since I don't speak it xD. As much as my Elf doesn't like confrontations, I'm good with whatever.

We're basically just tossing banter and conjecture back and forth. I did at least if you guys were lost, but like I aid I was waiting for a response. I might be able to whip something up in a day if SC doesn't do it right away. Either way is fine.

Ooh things are getting interesting now... I just gave Edto some info to include in his next post that will kick off a combat encounter that should keep Chapter 2 busy. As for Chapter 1, I have an idea Remnant. I was debating whether to try out "duel mode" for lack of a better term, where you and I take the fight between Theron and Poncho guy to PMs so we can rapid-fire post back and forth (minimum post size reduced from "a short paragraph" to "a single sentence"), and then compile the whole fight into a single seamless post and then have you put it in the RP. That would work best if you're willing to reply super often until we get it all done, otherwise we could just post in the RP thread like normal. Thoughts?

All of this rivalry and epic dueling music makes me want to play Soul Calibur. I'm fucking getting some shivers here man! Two souls bearing their steel as the fates align by the stars to meet in furious combat!

I wouldn't mind trying this out, sounds really interesting! Might take me a few posts to get use to though. And duuuuuude. When Poncho guy showed up, I almost squealed. THAT's the type of excitement I look for in a RP. That was completely unexpected and took me by surprise when he showed up. How it went from that fast paced Soul Calibur music to that eerie 300 music got me shivering. That's how you know the tides have changed. I went from challenger the bandit leader to facing a sworn enemy. Amazing. And the music fits perfectly! Really hyped for this duel now, great job SC!!

THAT's the type of excitement I look for in a RP. Thanks a lot guys! Really. I love it when players get excited about the worlds and situations I provide, so that kind of praise is fuel for me. I have an idea Remnant . I wouldn't mind trying this out, sounds really interesting! Might take me a few posts to get use to though. Cool. So here's what we'll do: Write up your response exactly the way you normally would, but instead of posting it in the RP send it to me in a PM instead titled "Theron vs Kyton", and we'll go from there. Remember this will all be compiled into a single post later, so it's okay if individual replies are only a sentence long or so sometimes. You also won't need to do the usual post header or summary for this. Just make sure to reply as fast as you can for the entire fight. Ready? Go!

SuperCommando So, I have a Sheild spell that I can activate on trigger which gives me +5 AC to all attacks in the round. I would have used it so could the rolls be modified to account for AC 21 not 16?

Also, if I may suggest something. On another site I am on, whenever there is dialogue heavy moments between two characters, we could do a thing called a Joint Post. It uses a ether ad, which allows multiple people to edit a text document at the same time. Could technically use Gdocs as well but you know what I mean. This would speed up the process if all parties could dedicate about an hour half to two hours to it. For example: etherpad.org/

SuperCommando So, I have a Sheild spell that I can activate on trigger which gives me +5 AC to all attacks in the round. I would have used it so could the rolls be modified to account for AC 21 not 16? Yes, that is an appropriate use of that spell. Rather than go back and change the results of my post, let's keep it intact for the record. Please include this in your next post so we can keep track of what happened.
DM NOTE:
Spell effect:
Shield 1st-level abjuration Casting Time: 1 reaction, which you take when you are hit by an attack or targeted by the magic missile spell Range: Self Components: V, S Duration: 1 round
An invisible barrier of magical force appears and protects you. Until the start of your next turn, you have a +5 bonus to AC, including against the triggering attack, and you take no damage from magic missile.
Spell trigger:
(Against AC 16)
CREATURE MULTIATTACK: CLAW: (1d20+5) (13) [18] – HIT! SLASHING DAMAGE: (1d6+3) (2) [5] BITE: (1d20+5) (18) [23] – HIT! PIERCING DAMAGE: (1d8+3) (2) [5] NIVARA HP: 18/33
Results after using spell:
(Assuming you use the claw attack as the trigger, since it would be wasted on the bite):
(Against AC 21)
CREATURE MULTIATTACK: CLAW: (1d20+5) (13) [18] – MISS! BITE: (1d20+5) (18) [23] – HIT! PIERCING DAMAGE: (1d8+3) (2) [5] NIVARA HP: 23/33
So thanks to your spell, your HP is actually 23 instead of 18. If the creature attacks you again before you post, the AC bonus will still be taken into account. Once you post, the bonus will be gone. For example: etherpad.org/Sure, I have no problem with you guys doing that. It's pretty much what I did with Seraph for Kardesh's entrance (on a smaller scale of course, we only made one post each), as well as what I'm doing for Theron's current duel in Chapter 1. I wouldn't say do it for every dialogue, but in certain situations it could make the resulting conversation more seamless.

Should I post Gonff trying to fire his crossbow (I would assume with a disadvantage unless he rested it on the wagon to steady it) or wait for others/an update SC?
|
|
|
|
Post by SuperCommando on Feb 14, 2016 8:16:57 GMT -6
You can totally fire your crossbow. And unless you absolutely insist, I won't roll it with Disadvantage either. The way I see it, Gonff's wounded arm is more of a flavor-adding bit of roleplay, not an actual penalty imposed by the rules. Does that make sense?
So if you happen to miss, go ahead and say it was because of the wound. If you hit, Gonff can get all excited and pleased with himself for overcoming adversity. But either way, the actual mechanics of the attack roll would be the same as normal.

Okay everyone, I'll be on vacation for the rest of the weekend. Take the extra time to get your character caught up in the RP if you need to, otherwise kick back and chill for a while.
Of course I'll have my phone on me so I'll still be logging in to check PMs and stuff, maybe make short replies if needed, but don't expect any actual updates to the game until after I get back.
See you next week.

Sorry for the delay, everyone. After my weekend trip I've been busy catching up on IRL stuff, plus on what should have been my day off somebody called in sick and I went to fill in for them. So long story short, it's been a bad week for posting. It happens.
Just wanted to keep you guys in the loop, and apologize for killing the momentum we had going. Once I get back into the swing of things I'll try to get these current sessions wrapped up quick so we can all move on.
