I wouldn't mind getting the buff, but Alder could probably use it. Of course, as Beta said, Theron getting it could mean an ace in the hole. But two heads are better than one, and Justran could have any number of tricks up his sleeve.
Up to Fac, I suppose.

I'd like to give it to Alder, so we can hopefully have two big strong men on the cart with Justran to bring him back to us for questions!

I'd like to give it to Alder Ok, done. Additionally, I've been wanting to experiment with the concept of timed events in order to add urgency to the RP. So better get on that....

Good posts all but going to pass this rotation as don't think Gonff would be able to do much from where he is and injured so soon after playing the magic song.

SuperCommando , this where I got the +5 for my Javelins excerpt from the PHB. Riiiiight. Now that you bring that up, I recall that you did actually point that out to me once before. Thanks for reminding me Beta. Bitches be stealin' my ideas Any spots left? Jakob! Hey man. Yes, as you can see there's still tons of interest in having a Yappa's D&D game. Remember when you started your 4e game and I accidentally purchased the 5e handbook instead? Well I wanted to put it to good use, so here we are. And of course you are completely welcome to join. The way I have the RP set up is episodic rather than one giant, continuous narrative. The idea is to allow players to drop in and out between "episodes" as needed, meaning we can definitely get you in on a session. Right now we have two ongoing sessions, Chapter 1 and Chapter 2. These are introduction sessions, each featuring a group of characters on their way to the town of Red Lark, where the Princes of the Apocalypse campaign begins. The plan is to get these sessions done and over with soon and then get all the players together in the upcoming Chapter 3. New players, like yourself and Cat, can easily make your appearance in town the same time everyone else arrives. Here's a link to the Information Thread. yappashalorpg.proboards.com/post/108194/threadIt contains useful rules for how the game works, as well as an archive for in-game lore and background (although I'm pretty behind in keeping that aspect updated...) And here is a post I made earlier in this thread with other preliminary world and character info. yappashalorpg.proboards.com/post/108011/threadSo take a look at what we've got, and when you come up with a character concept send me a PM with your ideas and we can go from there. Looking forward to having you with us! NOTE TO ALL:Be advised, at the time we started this RP the staff had purchased a new domain name for the website. Basically, they just took "proboards" out of the url. But apparently, they stopped paying for the domain name and now the site is back to including proboards in the url. Because of this, many of the old links I created have outdated urls now, and no longer work. So if you encounter any broken links in our D&D threads, that's why. I'll try get around to fixing those, but please be aware of the issue.

I can see we killed the bandit but did Justran get away? Want to know so I can have Gonff go and gather some loot or if he would be worried about the fleeing wagon.

Gonff would definitely be worried about the fleeing wagon. Both Theron and Alder succeeded in catching up and boarding the wagon (Alder even threw his javalin just now while standing in the wagon), so now those two are poised to confront Justran.
By now they're getting pretty far away, they're pretty much on their own at this point. So you might as well gather loot if you wish.

Don't worry about it Edto. Your session is literally a post or two at minimum from being done, you can consider it complete. And when things eventually settle down, you know you can always jump into a future session.

Oh, just so all Chapter 2 players are aware, I'm basically done with you now. I have nothing else coming your way, so whenever guys are done interacting with your characters the session will be over.
Whenever you're done RPing, let me know. I'll then officially close the chapter with some post-session stats. Take your time though, as Chapter 1 still has to deal with Justran somehow.

It's fine for the moment LaxKnight. I've been occupied as well, hence why I've been delayed on a couple things. Post when you can and we'll see about wrapping things up.

So it's been a little while, and although I know we've all been happily distracted by M9 I must also keep this game moving forward. So I plan on making a post for Chapter 1 tomorrow, as early as tomorrow morning (my time) possibly. If anybody wanted to get a quick post in before then (looking at you, Theron and Alder...) then go for it. If not don't worry about it, but it's high time we got this wrapped up one way or another.

Ok, sorry it took so long to get that post out. Turned out to be a busier weekend than I thought.
I posted what I have so far just for the sake of getting that out, but I am also still working on Gonff's findings as he loots in the aftermath of the fight. So if nobody posts by the time I get back from work, I'll probably just edit that part on to this latest post, so watch for that.
EDIT: I have now added Gonff's part into my latest post.
Now we're all caught up. All we need now to resolve both these sessions is just for the players to resolve any final interactions (Lax and Seraph in Chapter 2 and everyone else with each other and NPCs in Chapter 1), and the sooner that's done the sooner we can start Chapter 3.

So it's been clear that the game's been slowing to a crawl for a long time now, although I'm pleased that people still make an effort to post however infrequently. So I'm wondering if maybe I just put a hard deadline out there (thinking next week maybe?) at which point we simply cut off these first two sessions already and move on.
If people do still wish to move on, of course. Back when we started this RP it was all the rage, so I hope that some of that initial enthusiasm is still there. Or if not, please let me know what it would take to recapture it.
For instance, I've been kicking around the idea that maybe we started this campaign too much like a movie or novel and not enough like a game. Excellent story set-up, great cast of characters, but perhaps not enough to engage the players. Of course I didn't anticipate it would take this long to get through a single fight, but maybe "you're on a bridge, fight these guys", was a bit too on-rails and that's why we lost momentum.
So I have some options to propose.
We could continue as planned, wrapping up the current sessions and moving on to Chapter 3 where you guys get set loose in Red Lark to discover more stuff to do and continue the story.
Or, we can take a bit of a narrative detour. For the sake of mixing things up we'd have everyone interested make a 10th level secondary character and drop you straight into a dungeon filled with traps and monsters and puzzles and bosses and loot. We'd play in the same world and thus in the same thread as usual, but this would be like a side story, a companion to the main campaign. Perhaps as a flashback, or simply a different party in some other area of the region. The point would be just to get fired up about playing D&D again, and after that returning to our main story and characters.
Is that something you guys would like to try? Or maybe just power through this slow part to get to the main story? Let me know your thoughts and suggestions. I think most of you still want Yappa's D&D, and I still want to offer it.

Well considering all of the things that have happened since we began it seemed some peoples, especially staff and guardians, have been occupied running Mission 9. In a couple cases life has taken priority and focuses tend to shift. For myself chapter one has winded down to a satisfactory conclusion plus acted as a introduction to the mechanics of the system. Now next comes the meat and potatoes of the roleplaying and exploration. As for chapter two it was never really reached that point to really conclude. I guess it's basically over save for the nuance of finishing introductions, wrapping up the dialogue or whatnot. It's kind of an awkward spot to have stopped which could be worked out easily I suppose. Depends o what LaxKnight would like to do. Nivara might have to be NPCed if Edto does not wish to reprise the role for one last round. If we did happen to go along with the 10th level characters I wouldn't mind it. Depending on what others want, even if was only a few people who opt to do that I probably like to use Kardesh or make a new character if needed. We can always brainstorm that after we decide.

Yeah. It's kind of my bad there Seraph. I kind of got stuck on what to say and got caught up with life. Kind of hard to get an insular character to interact. I will try and post something before I go to bed. As for the 10th level character idea I wouldn't mind it. Up to everyone else.

I would personally prefer to just hop over to Red Lark so the people who are still posting can post together in harmony! And I also relly enjoy playing the old-man/young-man Mousey man Gonff :3
But I am also fine with a new mini adventure. Could use one of the other character concepts I had before we started the PotA thread. Maybe the Church raised Gnoll Paladin P: .
