The wiki has a tendency to be wrong though.
And marines haven't had that piece for any game since though, I would agree it was if we ever see it in any other Halo game besides CE. Even Reach only had the marines with closed face masks.

Well, it all depends on what suit of armor people use.
I myself use the Halo CE/Halo Wars set of armor for my characters (All of them, other then my Navy characters) - so my guys have that green piece. In all honestly, I use it like a mini-HUD. I'm able to tell who's who by their FOF tags, incoming transmissions - smaller things.
But for the bigger things, like maps, rosters and whatever else, I tend to use tactical pads and data pads to get the job done. That's just how I do things, it's worked so far.

Didn't we all decide that Halo 3 / Wars armor was the way to go? I remember us having a poll about it.

Yeah, but then we had the reboot and a lot of stuff happened. That and it may not have been officially implemented...

Well this is the armor all my Marines wear. Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary marine... Er, I mean Halo: Reach model of a Marine. This IS a Marine, note the brown armor. That's from Halo Reach.

Actually, marines in Reach had a greener armor. Yeah, but then we had the reboot and a lot of stuff happened. That and it may not have been officially implemented... Thread time!

I thought any of the ones with white helmets are army. The only times marines really make sense (the space mission, escorting Keyes) it s the full faced green. Where is that one from?

The picture with the standing marine is a concept art, I think. I pulled it from Wax, actually, when he was around.
And no. Marines were those with the BROWN Armor. The ones in the green armor were Army.

Um. Why would there be army in space and on the PoA? It is to my understanding that this is army, as you see them through the majority of the game and the opening mission before any marines are on the ground.

Notice the left shoulder pauldron in Jakob's picture. The symbol painted on it is the U.S. Army infantry insignia, repurposed by the UNSC Army. All infantry Army troopers have it. Marines do not have unit designators and the like on their armor or uniforms, like modern day U.S. Marines. The ODSTs being the exception apparently when in their Dress Blacks. They have the ODST insignia/unit patch on the right sleeve of their Blacks.

My opinion is that these dudes would have HUD's as well...I would think it even easier to project a HUD onto a visor like that more-so than on one of the green eyepieces. EDIT: Oh and a reticule for weapons such as the MA5 is a given. Hence why a green eye piece over the...sighting eye or whatever.

Hey guys, this is a QUESTION and ANSWER thread, not a LETS DEBATE THE VALIDITY OF ARMOUR.
Save that for a debate folks.

Hey, I've been looking around for a while and haven't found anything on it. How DOES a plasma rifle fire, or really a lot of other Covenant weapons?

Well, This is mostly theory on what I feel is the operation of the Plasma based weaponry.
When you press down the trigger pad. It sends a signal to the battery to generate plasma. Then, using a magnetic field the plasma, as it leaves the rifle, is propelled in a shaped charge at the target. When it detects that the weapon is too hot, emergency vents pop out and vent heat to prevent melting and damage.
Now, i could be completely wrong and pulling yarn out of my ass, but Thats what I think happens.

Nah, that's pretty much the basic premise. Plasma shaped and held together by magnetic fields is propelled at enemies.

So, what exactly is the largest UNSC warship capable of operating in a planet's atmosphere under its own power?
We know from Halo 3 that frigates like the Forward Unto Dawn can swoop in and out at will, but reasoned that certain larger vessels simply have too much mass to get into orbit based on how the Pillar of Autumn needed external booster rockets after her refit on Reach. So would a frigate be my answer? Or perhaps could a destroyer do so as well since its a bit heavier than a frigate but still smaller than a cruiser like the Autumn?

I believe I saw Kill say frigates were the largest that could do so, but I wouldn't be surprised if some lighter destroyers could as well.

Frigates. Light Destroyers are iffy at best.

So would a frigate be my answer? Or perhaps could a destroyer do so as well since its a bit heavier than a frigate but still smaller than a cruiser like the Autumn? More specifically... The Paris Class Heavy Frigates, Stalwart Class Light Frigates and the Charon Class Light Frigates are the only UNSCN vessel capable of maintaining it's own atmospheric flight. Even the smallest destroyer would need some form of booster rocket to assist them. The whole point of destroyers was to give them the tonnage heavier than a Frigate without absolutely killing the maneuverability like a Cruiser. Tonnage in the UNSC usually means more durability against the Covenant because of the more materials within the hull of the ship, like support brackets, armor, etc, etc.

What happens when your character dies during a mission? Are they dead permanently or just for that mission?

Permanently dead.
You'll have to make another character.

On a related note, does the same apply to your NPC's when they're killed and how do you go about replacing them?

When they are killed they are killed, you just write up new ones and edit them into your profile.

Could you play as your NPCs if your character is incapacitated or dead? Or would you just withdraw from the story?

Incapacitated, yes. Dead, no. For RP's sake you could do a little bit of posting with NPC's after your character is dead, but your actual PC is still dead. You would have to create a new character for continued posting.
