Hello Yappas! Here be the sign up as well as questions and ooc chat for the mission of Methane! The mission that was discussed here;

Setting:
The planet formally named Forgotten Redoubt, now named many things but different factions, was in the Covenant records for decades as an Excellent planet for Unggoy Production. Soldier production that is as its atmosphere of 69% Methane, 21% Oxygen, 7% Argon, and 3% misc gasses made it an Unggoy paradise. Not only that but its temperature range of -40 C (-40 F) to 0 C (32 F) makes it almost just like home! If you discount all the massive meter or larger insects that would love to carry you off in pieces. Or the large plants that seem like they would overtake any farm quickly. Very rocky and cold and not great for anyone besides the crabs.
Such issues put FR on the backburner in the Covenant Colonization progress list until now the Covenant is no more. As such a former Unggoy from Admin has dug up the old records of suitable Unggoy worlds they totally did not steal and has passed it along to their fellows. And sure the massive insects were an issue at first but a few liberated Covenant shields later and a few base camps were set up where they could breath. Breath and run and play and hunt without packs or worry. Just like home. It was even more authentic as the flammable atmosphere meant very limited plasma weaponry. So it was back to spears and rocks. So rustic!
Such a boon to the Unggoy would be not even given a second glace by any other race had a recent transmission not been intercepted and then beamed across first Jiralhanae space and then everyone else. That there was more than fart gas and fat insects down there. Oh no. The exploration of the surface for cartography means soon revealed that there were massive caves under the rocky surface. And they were full of far more than Methane pools and cool fungas. The lines and lines of Forerunner generators still humming away quickly led the Patriarch trying to hide their discovery until they could be mapped.
But word got out.
At the current time its still unclear what the generators are powering deep below the rocks and swamp or even if they are powering anything. Several Humans now in orbit have postulated that they could be a generator warehouse for all they know. But even if they are as simple as that hundreds of then shouldn't be selfishly hogged....But the Unggoy.
As such everyone wants in. And with no big war 'officially' still on its a tense situation. The Unggoy are numerous and want people to leave them alone but they don't have many starships and don't want to start a war. The Humans do have a lot of ships but their experts and equipment haven't arrived yet. The Sangheili and Jiralhanae are angry with each other and want to keep each other away. And the Kig-Yar are desperate to get in, grab, and get out before the Humans show up and blow them up for being 'pirates'.
As such there are sections in space around the planet where the various species are trying to scheme and plan for whats about to happen. Even news crews for Waypoints and the grapevines of other races are around recording and broadcasting this new discovered of a post war world. Who will get the prize and who will be left in space with nothing but fuel home?
Limitations:
Due to the rather flammable atmosphere should there be any battle those partaking in it need to be very careful that things dont get too hot and steamy. A few plasma or ballastics shots? Sure fine. But a prolonged firefight has a good chance of heating up the atmosphere enough to ignite a section of it. Likely melting everyone that was taking part in it. As such those few that are not Unggoy who have made it to the surface are keeping to small teams with alternative weapons. Some even old fashioned like a humbler stun device, blades, and blunt weapons for smacking off the insects.
Also, obviously, due to the atmosphere on FR there is theoretically enough oxygen to support your standard Human male but not with your lungs full of liquid and gaseous methane. So all the oxygen breathers, everyone besides Unggoy and Huragok and maybe Lekgolo I dont think its ever stated, need to have a source of that with them to operate in atmosphere. Now you get to experience the discomfort and annoyances the Unggoy did! They are not sympathetic to your plight at all.
RP:
This is more up in the air as it entirely depends on who wants in. If theres only a few then we would all likely be on the same 'team' and working to make deals with the Unggoy or just bust in and try to steal stuff. But the objective could be as simple as that. Or trying to defend our Unggoy home. Or trying to work out what the heck is down there. Or even trying to blow up the other space species and then have more time to mooch around.
Ideas welcome and perhaps this will get peeps postin again ^.^
Id imagine mostly any characters could be used heck even formally dead ones if people were ok with that and wanted more rps and stuff.
But suggestions and discussions welcome as well as sign ups!
