Ok, I'm back and ready to start going over the profiles I got so far. Looks like we lost rickrtickr but gained BetaWülf (and possibly Huka...?). I have almost everyone's profile(s) already though, so if you haven't wrote up and PMed one in yet, better get on that. Remember, we start when everyone on the contestant list gets approved. If you have submitted a character, keep an eye on your PM inbox. If you don't need to edit anything, I'll provide instructions for your next step.

Quick question, is there a template for the character I can follow or must follow?
T'was hoping for one, but if not, then I can try my best to PM a character without one.

Nope, no template. And that's the point. This character is entirely your creation, so it's up to you to organize the information however you need.

Alright then. I'm just use to uniform organization. However, this form of organization seems to prove useful.

Three contestants are now fully registered and standing by. If you're not done yet, keep working. Don't leave them waiting.
I'm super excited at how cool everybody's characters are! Pretty soon you all will get to see for yourselves.

Yo, Super, sorry I haven't gotten around to PMing my character or such. I've been busy lately, and this kind of slipped my mind. I'll get on it ASAP.

So only a small few are still finishing up their characters at this point, but since most of you are already done and waiting we can't sit around forever. I was thinking about starting by this weekend, but didn't make an official post about it. This time I will. After talking with some of the participants, we've agreed on a final deadline.
FINAL CHARACTER DEADLINE: FRIDAY FEBRUARY 6
This Friday I will make a post letting you know that you can finally post your characters, thus opening the Continuum Aegis Tournament. This means you must be ready by that time I make that post, no exceptions.
Thank you everyone for your patience. We're almost there.
EDIT: Of course, we can always start sooner if everyone finishes before the deadline. So in theory we could even get started later today. Friday may be the last day, but hopefully it won't take that long if you guys work hard.

Here we go! THIS OCT IS NOW OFFICIALLY UNDERWAY! Thank you all so much for your patience! It is time to finally reveal your characters! Please post your INTRO in the main tournament thread, and then put your PROFILE in a spoiler box in front of it. You post should end up looking like this: If you had additions to make on your profile that you had to send in seperate PMs before, now you'll be able to put it all together since you can edit your post. Once everyone posts their characters, you will receive your first round opponent!

Ok, round one is a go! Really looking forward to everyone's stories. As usual, don't hesitate to state questions or comments you might have. I know there's a lot of details packed into that last post, so read carefully and let me know if maybe I missed anything.

No, just the one. You are the only one there. Your opponent is somewhere out in the world and you must go find them, using your Continuum Aegis as a compass.
You did not all arrive at the same time, if that's what's throwing you off.

Also I'll have my intro post up or should I just include it in my story cause I had to work extra shifts and I've just been really tired as of late.

It's all good, I can totally understand work getting in the way.
Don't include the intro in your story though. The point of the intro is to give your opponent an example of what the character is like, so go ahead and add it to your profile post so Draken can referance it.

So SC, going back to what you said about how one can "defeat" their opponents, are there things like spells and/or artifacts lying around somewhere that would give certain characters an edge if they used said spell or artifact?

You're referring to this statement, right? Lastly, in the (unlikely) event that a Supreme Commander Huka finds himself up against Morgoth-slapper, keep in mind that Huka can write whatever story he wants. The "battle" doesn't have to be direct combat - maybe in his story he evades the Slapper's notice and sneaks into an ancient temple where he finds a spell that weakens or negates the Slapper's ungodly powers. Maybe he challenges the Slapper to a Hobbit-style battle of wits and stumps Slapper with a mind-bending riddle. Creativity is key. Those were just examples trying to illustrate the point that you have lots of creative freedom when writing these stories, and how an underdog character with less superpowers than their opponent can use that creativity to win against the odds. I didn't necessarily mean to say those are exact, specific things everyone should do. I can see how you might be connecting the dots since I did mention that there are ancient temples scattered across the world in the latest info section, but that was just a coincidence. Back when I wrote the quote above, I wasn't trying to foreshadow anything. That said, if you REALLY want to discover some kind of spells in your story (and this goes for all contestants by the way), you certainly can I suppose. I did say you guys can write whatever story you want. However, I would advise against it specifically because since I already gave that as an example, using it would look like a cop out. If anyone is still really keen on using that general idea however, I suggest trying to put your own spin on it so it doesn't seem like you're directly copying my example. After all, we are going for originality here.

You said to "glorify" my opponent and make the fight difficult for my char, and I'm trying to find a method to do so when one of them at least is almost completely outclassed by my character.

Well, by "glorify" I mean make the other character awesome and don't treat them like a mindless drone that only exists for your own character to beat up. That doesn't mean the fight has to be difficult. Or that there has to be much fighting even. There's more than one way to acquire an opponent's Continuum Aegis, direct combat is only one. Yes at first glance Tracker vs Random might appear a little one-sided, but after thinking for a while about what I would do if I had to write that encounter, I came up with an awesome idea for how Tracker would win. I'm not going to tell either of you though.

Just wanted to throw an idea out, once this OCT is complete, can we do a second one, with brand new characters and such? Perhaps a plot, too, if there isn't already one?

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't already considered it.
I guess that depends on the success of this first one really. If it proves popular and there's enough demand for another, then it would be reasonable to expect a sequel sooner rather than later. I'd honestly love to see that happen.
First things first though. We're still less than halfway through the first round of four, so let's all focus on making this first OCT an event to remember before thinking too hard about a sequel.

Ok guys, crunch time. You only have today and tomorrow left to get your stories posted. Or at least that was the initial plan.
I'll admit, I'm kinda worried that nobody actually posted a story yet. It's been 8 days so far, is everyone still not done? Are some people withholding until the last minute for some reason? I have no idea.
So please, let me know where you guys are at, and if you would possibly like an extension of the deadline. I'd much rather extend round one and have everybody finish instead of stubbornly stick to the current one and be forced to disqualify people.

Lol Goody. You know, at 3000 words you probably could have been done already. Procrastinator and over-achiever? Tsk Tsk. Not the best combo there bro. I think everyone is just waiting for each other to post, no one wants to go first. Don't want to intimidate the competition into thinking it's hopeless, eh? I'm confused as to how to post. Anything I can help with?
