For the first part, Tracker, it depends on what's happening. Sometimes I switch back and forth every paragraph or so, but then I go with one character for a prolonged period of time. Really, it's whatever you're comfortable with and how you want the next moves and stuff to be viewed, just as long as the readers understand what's going on.

I'd say just write your story like you would any other and try not to overthink it. Specifically regarding perspective, don't worry about trying to balance it between the characters. That just depends on your personal writing style. If you want, the entire thing could even be only from Tracker's perspective. She'll still interact with Random, meaning the reader will still see how Random acts and fights and such in your story. Thus, the judges will still see how you interperet each character. So again, perspective does not really matter. As for how to actually depict Random in the story itself... All I can say is try your best. He's a very quirky and eccentric character, so that will probably require anyone writing him to adopt a different mindset. You'll need to loosen up and get in touch with your inner ridiculousness. Are you familiar with the anime Kill la Kill? I'm not saying Random has anything to do with that show, but he requires that kind of over-the-top flair. Again, just do your best and have fun with it. Random is a tough character to write, but that will force you outside your comfort zone and think differently. That is what this OCT is all about, so I'd say you're getting the most out of it so far.  |

I hate the idea of being the one person that defaults the first round >.> but that may end up happening mainly because im not finished and im kinda out of time >.< since i wont be anywhere near a computer at ALL till sunday after tonight, and i got to spend tonight getting ready to leave >.>

Tell you what guys...
Let's extend the deadline to Monday, Feb. 23.
It looks like a bunch of people, due to life stuff or otherwise, aren't quite ready to post by tomorrow. I'd rather wait a little longer to accomodate those people instead of kicking them out and be left with an empty first round. So use this extra time wisely.

Sooooo... how's it going guys? Technically this should be the final 23 hours of round one. BUT, since only one person has actually posted yet (thanks Darknal), I'll admit I'm getting a little worried. I'd like to gauge where everybody's at, so MrKill, Spartan 999, Samuel Murray, @tracker, Guardian Cat of Yappa's, Remnant, BasedGoody, BetaWülf, Huka, if you guys could please let me know either here or in PM a rough estimate of how close to done you are from 0%-100%, that would be great. No need for explanations or excuses, I promise nobody's in trouble or anything. Again, just want to check overall progress. Don't worry about finishing by the end of today either. In fact, I'm considering just dropping the deadline completely. The point of having it in the first place was simply to give people a goal to work for, as well as a method for keeping the tournament moving. But it's basically an empty threat - I don't really want to disqualify anyone, and it won't benefit the tournament if nine out of ten characters get kicked out without even doing anything yet. So instead of having this OCT be a timed event, I'm thinking this will become more of a long-term post-when-you-can kind of thread. (I would highly encourage you all to pester your opponents to post sooner rather than later, though). What do you guys think? |

No argument here, that's certainly something I'd hate to see happen after all of us put so much work into it already. What do you guys think? Set one more absolute deadline for round 1? And after that we move on, no exceptions? And what would a good final deadline be for you guys who are still writing? Friday maybe? Okay, thanks for your input everyone. Here's what I'm thinking... We've got Tracker VS Random and Xelius VS Dr. Vile done. 999 posted for Orion and Kill is just about ready to post too. That's at least one match per bracket filled, meaning we have enough to continue without totally throwing the tournament out of whack. Sounds like everyone else is pretty much halfway done, so if we make one last extension there should be enough time for people to slap an ending on what they've got and all will be well. So... ROUND ONE FINAL, ABSOLUTE, VERY LAST DEADLINE: SUNDAY FEB. 28 Come Monday, we're moving on without you if your story doesn't get posted. Llau, Fac, and I will be doing our judging right as the battles are posted, meaning we should have the round one results on standby and ready to reveal shortly after the deadline. Make it or break it time, guys. |

Thanks to this fluxing writer’s block/muse hybrid and working priorities, I must sadly give the decision to bow down from the tournament as much as it pains me in this unique opportunity of Huka vs 999 interactions. Certainly enjoyed Spartan's depiction though, so it won't be all bad. (Note: Will still try to write a Khiron and Dur-Shon vs. Random thread when I get the chance, because that’s the original idea of this fun project: Fun character development!)
