Edge of Known Space

Traveling through the void of outer space was a considerable collection of ships, leaving the charted maps of their former empire and now seeking new frontiers to explore. That was the official story, but the truth is a anomaly was discovered several cycles ago, and to investigate this mystery is none other than the long-serviced Imperial Admiral Huka 'Humamai. Having become bore of the lack of battle and wanting a challenge-in hope it is just a pirate attack or renegades-the Sangheili champion boarded one of his ships, a warship of incredible caliber known as the Long Spear, and leads the Reconnaissance Fleet of Far Reach to a hopeful finding. 

To his slight enjoyment, this hope was awarded with the confirmation of a small fleet-about his own small fleet's size-led by a ship that was just between the size classifications of a Corvette and Destroyers. These were the ships that scared-and allegedly destroyed-a few other recon fleets before? It was almost laughable to say the less, but then again, the Covenant was the supreme power in their space. Let's see if these ships are truly a threat to him. 

"All hands prepare for battle!" He commanded over the ship-wide comms, the massive nearly 11' ft tall warrior shifting abit on his command chair in excitement and the Long Spear took the front of the fleet.

Edge of Known Space
Geth Dreadnought

A Small fleet of Geth wait at the edge of known space. They have destroyed recon fleets and such. They are lead by a Geth Prime, named Shadow because of his stealthiness. This Prime looks like Legion, except he does not have a hole in his chest, and both his Shoulders are N7. He also has the backpack with two long points coming from the top of it, like most Primes do. The Lesser Primes were of their simple design. Tall with red coloring, towering over most Geth by being 12 feet tall. Shadow was 13 feet tall though.

"Anomaly detected. Space faring ships, of unknown design. Not common Humans that we raid." A Geth Trooper, working at the computer stated. "Engage. Launch fighters. Activate shielding. Defend." Shadow stated. The Dreadnought and the rest of the fleet began firing their Plasma weaponry at unknown fleet.

[Huka]

"Imperial Admiral, the enemy fleet have began pouring out their fighters and engaging." The Long Spear's communications/Sensors officer warned without a hint of urgence. Huka tapped a claw on his armrest before speaking, "All light choirs engage at will, I want to see their pitiful ships light the path to their destruction. Show them the skill of a Sangheili pilot thirsty for blood." The order coursed over the fleet and soon enough dozens of Banshee interceptors swooping to engage the incoming forces, streaks of lights left their wings like a performance in one of the old theaters of High Charity to entertain the elite. 

"Choirs engaging, sir." The officer reported again. Looking at the viewscreen as some of his front ships were hit by the incoming plasma bolts and the eager ships, bored from cycles of uneventful travel started to lumber forward. Accessing the ship-wide comms, the veteran commandeered with a harsh tone, "Don't you break formation. All shields up and prepare to engage, destroyers led us to glory. Prepare energy projectors and fire the moment you have the enemy in sight." 

 The heavy destroyer twins did as command, taking either side of the warship before lancing out lances of plasma towards a couple enemy ships, barely missing the battling interceptors.

"Commander, enemy has dispatched fighters." The Geth Trooper said. Shadow watched the battle. He had the Dreadnought equiped with cannons similar to that of the Thanix Cannons, except it fired beams of Plasma instead. The dreadnought had Six of the Plasma Beam Cannons. Two at the front, two on each side, and two at the back. These Plasma Beam Cannons were also larger than the Thanix Cannons.

All the ships in the Geth fleet began to surround and flank every side of the Dreadnought, so the dreadnought was in the middle of the fleet. Shadow watched as a Banshee zoomed past his bridge, with a Geth fighter coming in behind it. The Fighter clipped the wings of the banshee as it began to spiral out of control and explode. The Plasma Beam Cannons at the front fired beams of Plasma at the incoming Banshees, destroying anyone of the banshees that were touched by it.

A Plasma Cannon (Not Beam Cannon) fired and hit a Banshee. The Banshee began to spiral and fall and hit the hull of the Dreadnought. It then began to glide a few feet until it finally stopped. It was covered in Plasma fire, but a tall reptilian figure came out. Plasma turrets began popping out of the Hull and fired at the trooper coming out the Banshee. It took at least thirty seconds to kill the beast, as it had shielding.

EDIT: Changed Phantom to Banshee, and one Elite, nothing else.

Leaning forward, Huka stroked his lower mandibles like a human would for a beard. His eyes examining and watching the differentiating battles of interceptors and battleships. "Prepare energy projectors 1, 2 and 5." He ordered. The Jiralhanae Weapons Officer smiled to himself as he did as commanded, his thick clawed fingers moved fast and worked on the console's glyphs. "Charging now, Honorable Admiral." He announced as the hum of the weapons rumbled in the bridge. 

"All ships move to engage but keep a fine 3,500 kilometer distance from the Long Spear and the enemy fleet.' Huka ordered before looking to the Weapons Officer, "Drop our shields on my command and divurge power to the projectors on my commander. The Covenant warships moved forward, making a broken U-formation with their large flagship staying in position. 

 As banshees and enemy interceptors exploded, Huka counted in his head. When it came to five, he quickly spoke in the comms while keeping his mental count, "All corvettes fire plasma torpedos at will!" The order didn't take long before azure bolts of plasma shot out to blast on the enemy ships. Narrowing his eyes when he saw the telltale signs of energy shields flashing on the enemy vessels. "Interesting but futile. They are not of our Gods' creation." He concluded, "Now!" 

 The warship's shields dropped and energy divurged to the projectors' output before sniping from the flank of his fleet and into several of the enemy's ships, their destruction blossoming beautiful-but silent-explosions. "Destroyers, keep your shields up and be wary of the enemy flagship." He ordered when the projectors ended their devastating attacks.

Two of the ships, around the size of a SDV-Class Heavy Corvette, diverged from the Defense position, and attacked a nearby Corvette. The Corvette was swarmed by fighters and Plasma cannon fire. It shields soon dropped, with its armor ripping apart into pieces of Debris. The Dreadnought then fired its front Plasma Beam Cannons at the bridge of the Corvette. Shadow saw the bridge of the Corvette blow up, and the two other ships fired simultaneously, along with the fighters, and destroyed the Corvette.

The Fighters and the two ships pulled back to the defensive position, but one of the ships had been damaged by the Corvette, its Engines failing. The ship was barely able to leave the Corvette debris. By the time the Fighters and one of the two ships made it to the defense position, Shadow saw two big ships charging some kind of energy, ready to fire on the damaged ship.

The Long Spear charged for another snipe shot, this time all of her energy projectors at the rear after watching one of her corvette subordinate be overwhelmed and destroyed by the enemy. "This time aim for the flagship." Huka ordered as he stood up from his seat. His eyes watched the battle as the destroyers fired their own energy projectors upon one of the retreating ships', slicing from the engine and throw its nose. "All choirs, evasive manuevers and stay out of the Long Spear's firing path." He warned, waiting a few ticks before ordering another overcharged 'sniping'. "Give them the wrath of Humam!" The Admiral ordered with a vicious exclaim, throwing his arm out the second the pent-firing was executed. 

 The five energy projectors speared through space and towards the enemy flagship with full intention to pierce through.

[Remnant]

"Commander, one of our ships have taken a direct hit!" A Geth Trooper said, as a ship in front of the dreadnought exploded from a beam. Shadow looked again to see two more beams hit another ship, destroying it, and two more beams flew by. The dreadnought move sideways, but slowly, and two other beams missed BARELY. Shadow looked down at the planet below, the Geth had taken it over. "Fire the planetary Plasma Beam Cannons, aim directly for those projectors, the shear force of both explosions should weaken that ship. I take it, that is the enemy's flagship. Also. Aim ALL ship's Plasma Beam Cannons at those same projectors. We need that ship weakened." Shadow said.

All Plasma Beam Cannons charged, including the ones groundside. Shadow noticed the projectors charging again. Simultaneously, all Plasma Beam Cannons, groundside and shipside, from all ships, fired at each of the Projectors. A massive explosion combined of the energy projectors and the Plasma Beam Cannons almost consumed the enemy Flagship. Shadow could not tell how much damage had been done, as the explosion made the ship currently unseeable.

[Huka]

"We managed to destroy a couple of their ships, Admiral." The Weapon Officer growled. "No, ma-" Huka dismissed before being interrupted by his Sensors Officer, "Admiral, enemy fire is coming our way!" "Diverge plasma coils back to the shields now!" He ordered quickly and the ship's lights flickered at the sudden charge of power when the entire ship rocked from the sudden combination of firepower from naval and ground assault. "Brace yourselves!" 

When it was over, Huka blinked and looked to his crew, "Report!" "Damage to energy projectors 2,3 and 5 significant. Shields and our ships barely saved the ship's hull from sustaining...worrisome damage, sir. We will send repair lances to them immediately. Thank the Gods..." The Operations Officer reported, tapping his fingers on his console as he gotten reports from the rest of the ships. "Energy projectors 1 and 4 are fully operations and most of our turrets are as well."  The Weapons Officer followed, right after was the Communications Officer gravely, "We've lost a couple corvettes and cruisers to the barrage, Admiral...they moved infront of the flagship's fire to save us." 

"Their sacrifaces will not be in vain." Huka said, bowing his head a moment. "Move forward, we are going to destroy our foes." The Long Spear moved towards the small enemy flagship, "All ships, keep the enemy ships at bay and destroy them without quarter. The flagship and its occupants are mine..." 

The Sangheili looked at the Jiralhanae, "We are about to unload a full barrage upon them." Looking abit nervous to that, but the ape-like operator swept doubt aside, knowing his leader knew what he was doing. "Aye, sir." He finally answered to preparing the laser and plasma turret as war raged around them, the Covenant ships engaging the enemy with plasma turret barrages and energy projectors from the larger cruisers.

Shadow continued to watch the battlefield. Five Plasma Beam Cannon fired from the planet and hit a Corvette, and destroyed it. Shadow noticed a Destroyer charging its Projector. "Same strategy." Shadow said. Ten Plasma Beam Cannon fired from the planet, the Beams collided with each other right under the Destroyer.

Where the ten beams hit, a sphere began to form, until a larger beam shot straight up from the sphere and hit the Projector of the Destroyer. The energy from the charge of the Projector and the combined beam pierced the shields and destroyed the bulbousous end of the Destroyer, while the rest of the Destroy was beginning to break apart into debris.

"Full barrage." Shadow said. "At what?" A Geth Trooper asked. "The entire enemy fleet." Shadow said. At that command, the full firepower of the Geth fleet unleashed. Plasma Beam Cannons, Plasma Cannons, Plasma Missles. Though the Plasma Turrets on the hull did not fire, in case any fighter got close, or any infiltrators got on the hull.

[Huka]

"Another barrage incoming, sir." The Sensors officer warned, reading his console as he worked quickly. "Admiral to fleet, move into close quarters." Huka ordered as his ship moved closer towards the small flagship, her active energy projectors beaming with several turrets on ready. "Hold fire till the very tick that the barrage over." He instructed before the rocking of another barrage struck the ship. With it more spread out than last time, the shields weren't as damaged with the enemy's firepower while it struck at its own fellows in the mingling of vessels. It was shame to not say the same for some other of his ships that were weakened from the interesting skirmish, their death pyre were short-lived and stroked over a few enemy ships.

 "Sir, we can't keep this up." Operations warned, looking at the energy depleted from the shields and leaking pleasma from the weapon charging. Clicking his tusked mandibles, the silver-armored Admiral chuckles, "We don't need to..." When the last salvo hit the Long Spear's belly, the shields dropped, and unleashed two energy projectors at the exposed enemy flagship, aiming to drain and damage the ship if the intense power doesn't spear through it, with a storm of plasma bolts and lasers streaked to finish it off.

"Projectors charging.." The Geth Trooper said. Almost instantly, both projectors hit the Dreadnought. The shields were destroyed fast, and the hull took direct hit. Damage spread throughout the ship, damaging it, making it ideal for boarding. Though the ship couldn't move, its defenses were still active.

Shadow waited for the worst. He directed all power to the defenses, hoping to get the invaders at bay. "Prep my personal fighter, in case the ship is destroyed. And have those reinforcements stay orbiting the planet, I want them to destroy any hostiles while I make my descent into the planet." Shadow said, with the Geth Trooper replying "Yes, Commander."

[Huka]

Huka clicked his mandibles as he watched his plan to near perfection, the enemy ship was sturdier than it looked. "All ships destroy the enemy fleet. The flagship seems ripe for boarding, operation will commence the moment all other enemy ship classifications is atomized." He ordered and the surviving Shipmasters did so without complaint, vengeance of their fallen brothers, ships, and pride burning through their plasma weaponry. 

Choirs returned their respective ships during the destruction, the reconnaissance fleet was lessened by one damaged Destroyer, six corvettes, and four frigates. More than enough for this finale as they attacked at the enemy ships. As for the Long Spear, she sat over the debris of her enemies, staring at the crippled flagship, wondering to deliver a coup de grace or board while waiting for her weapons to recharge with her own shield returning to full capacity. The tactic of overcharging no longer needed. "Destroy their energy projectors and plasma turrets." He ordered dully, returning to sit on his throne. 

 Aiming her plasma turrets, the Long Spear did as commanded, blasting away with bursts of punishing power upon the enemy flagship.

All the Geth ships began their defensive position once again, flanking every side of the Dreadnought. The entire fleet, except the dreadnought, opened fire, focusing on one ship, instead of spread-out barrages. One Corvette down, then another. The Geth fleet aiming only at one target was working. Another Corvette down.

Then a Frigate was destroyed. The ships began firing their Plasma Beam Cannons. Another Frigate destroyed along with two other Corvettes. Only one Corvette and Two Frigates remained. And the Destroyer, which was now charging it's Energy projector. The groundside Plasma Beam Cannons began firing at the remaining ships while the fleet took on the Destroyer. They fired at it's energy projector, combining all their Plasma Beam Cannons into it. A Massive explosion happened, ripping the destroyer into pieces.

The Fleet turned to engage the remaining ships. The last Corvette had been destroyed, and a Frigate. One frigate remained, and the Flagship. But the Fleet had only Twenty ships remaining.
