OK, so I'm looking to run a series of side missions detailing what COULD happen if the U.S. intervened militarily in Syria's civil war. The missions would follow a U.S. Marine Corps infantry platoon as part of the first-landing unit, a Marine Expeditionary Unit. A basic plot line is below, up until the first mission.
All times in Eastern Standard (aka Washington time)
1200 hours, 10 September 2013--The House of Representatives holds a vote on taking military action in Syria. The vote passes 300-125.
1400 hours, 10 September 2013-- The Senate holds a vote on taking military action in Syria. The vote passes 90-10.
1600 hours, 10 September 2013-- A meeting of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is called immediately. They convene and prepare, then issue marching orders.
1730 hours, 10 September 2013-- Elements of the military are issued marching orders for Syria.
0130 hours, 11 September 2013-- Operation: Romeo and Juliet launches as the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit arrives off-shore of Syria. American, Canadian, and Israeli black-ops units neutralize coastal radar.
0200 hours, 10 September 2013-- Turkish Army forces cross the border and seize Aleppo.
0230 hours, 10 September 2013-- 22nd MEU lands in the coastal town of Tartus and establishes an operating base.
0300 hours, 10 September 2013-- The US Air Force and Navy, along with Turkish and Israeli air elements, begin establishing no-fly zones over Syria.
0500 hours, 10 September 2013-- US Army elements begin to arrive in Tartus. The Army takes over command of the base and the 22nd MEU starts pushing inland, accompanied by Marine armor. The first mission would begin here.
