About Time (Huka vs Me)

[Spartan 999]

Map: A countless number of the following islands in the middle of a violent ocean.





Spartan's battle cryptum hummed loudly as it entered the planet's atmosphere. It came to a halt over one of the flat-topped islands, then opened to allow him to exit. He stepped out onto the hard ground and looked around, waiting for Huka to appear while the cryptum vanished.

[Huka]

As if from out of nowhere, a massive OIP dropped from the sky and crashed onto the island. The pod opened with a soft hiss and the massive Imperial Admiral stepped out with a thunk, his dark purple cape fluttering in the wind. "Excuse the dramatics..." He said with a chuckle and unclipped his cape from his pauldrons, letting it fall with a heavy thud.

Stepping forward, the Sangheili stopped a respectable distance from Spartan, red and yellow eyes looking from his closed helm. "Rules of this duel?" He asked, inhaling the ocean breeze with a sigh.

"Fight and win." Spartan said simply. His armor split apart, then separated from his body before vanishing like his cryptum had. Instead, he now wore form-fitting robes similar to an Assassin's. With a slight scrap, he drew the Scimitar of Snark from its scabbard and went into a crouch.

[Huka]

With a simple nod, Huka disabled his energy shield and pulled out a pair of curve-blades. Putting his dominant foot forward, he crossed his blades and got into stance. "Fight well, Spartan." He said with a click of his tusks.

Spartan almost literally exploded forward as he charged, Void energy empowering him and causing the rock underneath his footsteps to crack from the force. Upon reaching Huka a split-second later, he attacked a few times, first feinting up before stabbing down low, hopping into the air and spinning, then slashing down diagonally, all of it happening within a moment.

[Huka]

Huka inhaled sharply when he heard the sonic boom and crunch of rock, he suddenly stepped back to the feint, angled his large body in time to dodge the low stab. Eyes still on the fast-moving human, the Admiral brought one of his swords up to block the slash and used the momentum of the fall to guide Spartan's descent away from him, while hopping away at the same time, his other blade ready to strike or defend.

When Huka hopped away, Spartan focused a lethal amount of Void energy in his clenched hand, then launched it at his opponent, the stream of vampiric energy roaring as it traveled. Regardless of whether or not it hit, Spartan swung it sword so he was holding it in a reverse grip, then plunged the blade into the ground beneath him and channeled energy through it.

The entire anvil-shaped island cracked and rumbled ominously. He withdrew the blade, bent his knees, and vaulted high into the air. The overwhelming surge of power caused the island to tip back, teeter for a moment, then finally fall into the ocean, crumbling into large fragments along the way.

Meanwhile, Spartan landed on the closest island to the now-destroyed one, knees bending to absorb the force of the impact. He peered out into the distance, attempting to see where Huka was--it'd be stupid to think he died at that moment.

[Huka]

Huka spoke something under his breath when he saw the distortion of air roaring for him. Landing just in time, he made a desperate evasion aside from the attack, and looked over to see Spartan stabbing his sword into the ground. Instantly knowing this certainly had a purpose, he made a move to watch the island crack and rumble.

Seeing that the island will not last much longer, Huka clicked a mandible against his helmet's inner controls, and lunged off the island, feeling the place collapse from Spartan's jump. Closing his eyes, his body started to disassemble into digital bit and vanished in a pocket of slipspace.

 In seconds, these bits suddenly reappeared and collected back into the Imperial Admiral. Opening his eyes, he found himself behind his opponent, and he simply paced with silent steps honed from his time as a Special Operator, wondering when Spartan will turn around.

Sensing a presence behind him, Spartan waited until Huka had come within two meters of him before whirling and launching a large, head-sized orb of volatile Void energy directly at him while jumping back and off the island, saving himself from the worst of the blast.
