“Task Force ‘Arnhem’” |
Task Force Overview
As per sealed orders, all vessels in Task Force Arnhem shall translate from slipspace directly upon the marker buoy dropped by the UNSC Charbydis. This will ensure that all vessels shall emerge behind Lethe’s moon, Hydrus, and so sheltered from any Covenant sensors upon the planet’s surface. Prior to slipspace transition, vessels from the 31st, 103rd, 147th and 172nd squadrons will use external hard-points to pair-up and dock. This will allow two vessels to share the same slipspace rupture, once through, paired vessels will separate and move to secure the dark-side of the moon on secondary engines only. Main engines will remain inactive until either Task Force Mirage calls in for support or Covenant reinforcements appear in system. If Mirage is rendered combat ineffective and/or target Hades makes a run for orbit, it is our job to disable it with extreme prejudice. Whatever infantry make it onboard will have to be sacrificed to stop that ship getting away, if it does we can kiss the war goodbye.

Task Force Overview
As I’m sure you all know, target Hades has been sitting there like a lame duck for the past fortnight, now that the rest of the fleet is setting up position behind Hydrus we can get to work on plucking that duck. Now, we’re not exactly in Prowlers here so we’ll maneuver into a low-velocity de-orbital trajectory calculated to bring us down a good two thousand ‘kay short of their sensors and visual capability. From there, the infantry companies will be deployed via D-77TC dropships to the limit of their sensor range. I must state that the main infantry element will not be foot-mobile aside from emergency situations. Instead, elements loaded with silenced weaponry will move ahead to eliminate Covenant defenses prior to the main assault. While this is taking place, we will move to a geo-synchronous holding orbit just over the horizon from target Hades. Once the LZ for the ground forces has been secured and the carrier has been captured, we can move in to extract our forces. However, if the carrier cannot be captured and/or is preparing to pull into an orbit of its own, we will be required to engage and destroy it. The main infantry force is expendable in this context, and so we are clear for both nuclear ordnance and magnetic accelerator bombardment. If it turns out that we are unable to neutralize the target, Task Force Arnhem is in position to support us.
