Rees-McLees Shipyard Slot 23# Decommissioning Ceremony For The UNSCS Fire Tear "I would first like to start off this Ceremony by welcoming Admiral Eric Klix..." Began Lydia, as she looked toward the Admiral, standing beside her. "Now I would like to say something about this Ceremony and the Fire Tear." "It is a clear and bright day on Mars for this Ceremony, here at Rees-Mclees Shipward, slot #23. The UNSCS Fire Tear sat in the slot she was born in 52 years ago, this will be the second and last time she will see this place, or any for that matter. She is an excellent ship, serving the two crews that had commanded her without flaw. All things though, no matter how great, must come to and end. But, she will not be gone forever, the UNSCS Fire Tear will be deconstructed for the future ships of the human race, so in a way she will not die, she will just be reborn. Today we honor an amazing ship, my ship, and say goodbye." Spoke Captain Lydia Adelle Morgan in a calm and articulate tone, even though her heart was breaking on the inside. "I would also like to take this time to welcome our guest speaker Captain Matvey Borislavich Galina." Lydia announced, stepped back to let the Captain up so he can speak.

“Thank you, Captain Morgan,” Captain Matvey Borislavich Galina replied, before stepping up to the podium. He hadn’t bothered preparing note cards as others might for the ceremony as he’d believed the best impression came from being unprepared and being true to the moment. “The Fire Tear is a grand ship, having served King and Country proudly for more than five decades and while the record of the Halcyon Light Cruisers have been troubled from the start the Fire Tear is an exception. Many a sailor, even those that wear the uniform this day will swear a ship is more than the bolts securing her deck plating and the meters of battle plating. A ship is more than those parts, more than the crew, and the two become inseparable. It is through this the Fire Tear will be remembered, and the loss will be felt as the Fire Tear means more to her crew than the blueprints may ever convey. The Halcyons set the standards for the Marathons, a descendent from nearly every angle of these grand ships whom for decades took the fight to first the Insurrectionists followed by the Covenant,“
“In early twenty-four eighty-five, the ship soon to be christened the Fire Tear sailed under her power from her own reactors from this shipyard, a monument of the courage and efforts of those that shed their own blood. The Fire Tear waited in the Naval yards for five years until she received orders for her first combat tour. Captain Tucker Patrove had been assigned as her Commanding Officer, to take the Fire Tear as a deterrent against the Insurrection and while she sustained damage as a result of defiant aggression the Fire Tear stood as a beacon for her people. The Rees-Mclees Shipyards detected this Halcyon Light Cruiser on their long range scanners, and while her reactors could have managed to see the Fire Tear back in the repair yard tugs towed her in for repairs. The Fire Tear remained at this shipyard for a decade before HIGHCOM approved of a program to refit the entire class. This program refitted the Haclyons with thicker armor, better armament, better crew conditions and a revised reactor room, with the goal of proving to the Insurrectionists their dreams of secession were futile,”
“The Fire Tear would be sent back into the combat zone under the care of a new officer, of Captain Lydia Morgan where she spent ten years stationed in the Solar System assigned to the Fifty-Seventh Home Defense Fleet, being rotated out on missions against the same rebels. The Covenant War erupted in twenty-five twenty-five over Harvest, to which the UNSC answered in kind and the Fire Tear was sent into the combat zone once again. The Fire Tear‘s record improved drastically under Captain Morgan‘s command not only in giving the Covenant a reminder from her onboard arsenal at Fort Greely, but the sector surrounding the Planet Artifice among a field of battered, rent hulls to see the UNSC Flag hoisted high. The Fire Tear has served proudly, and do not forget this grand ship,” Following the conclusion of the speech, the Russian officer stepped back from the podium and reclaimed his seat.

Captain Lydia Adelle Morgan stood by with the rest of her somber bridge crew as the guest speaker Captain Matvey spoke of the Fire Tear and retold her amazing journey. Once the speech had finished the crowd erupted into applause and seperate sentimental shouts toward the ship and the russian Captain. After the applause finally managed to die down, Lydia didn't bother walking to her podium, she walked in front of her Bridge crew and stopped, standing in a rigid military way.
"Attention to Orders!!" Lydia cried out, her voice the only one to be heard. After her voice faded away her Bridge crew stood at attention and she looked toward her Executive Officer. "Executive Officer, make preparations to decommission United Nations Space Command's Ship Fire Tear." Lydia ordered.
Executive officer Troy Savery, then stepped out of line to stand next to Lydia, facing the rest of the Bridge Crew. "Aye Aye, Captain."
"Tactitions Officer, Report!" Troy ordered.
"The UNSCS Fire Tear has fought her last battle, sir!" Replied Lieutenant Commander Sarah Rickertson.
"Very Well, Navagations Officer, Report!" Troy Ordered.
"The UNSCS Fire Tear has traveled to her last destination, sir!" Replied Lieutenant Commander Kathrine Stockolve.
"Very well, Communications Officer, Report!" Troy Ordered. "The UNSCS Fire Tear has sent her last message, sir!" Replied Lieutenant Commander Butch Siminer.
"Very well, Operations Officer, Report!" Troy Ordered.
"The decks of the UNSCS Fire Tear are secure, her weapons have been spiked and her ammunition removed, sir!" Replied Lieutenant Commander Caitlin Stracose.
"Very well, Engineering Officer, Report!" Troy Ordered.
"The UNSCS Fire Tear is structurally sound and her Titanium A battle platting is not damaged in the least, sir!" Reported Commander Nigel Paterson.
"Very well, Guine, Report!" Troy Ordered.
"The UNSCS Fire Tears running lights have been extinguished." Reports the ships AI over several loud speakers placed near the slot.
"Very well." Stated Troy, turning toward Lydia. "Captain, The UNSCS Fire Tear is ready for decommissioning." He reported.
"Thank you Executive Officer." Replied Lydia before turning toward Admiral Eric Klix. "Sir, Permission to decommission the UNSCS Fire Tear?" Lydia asked.

Eric Klix turned sharply towards the man. "I'd like a few words." The Admiral said, as he stepped forward and resigned at the podium. In the back ground, the Fire Tear was docked with the shipyard, but in the distance three Cruiser's moved into position. The small group consisted of the Admiral's personal ship, the Arizona. A vessel that's took a pounding and was also facing the same future as the Fire Tear, a Halcyon Cruiser and a Marathon Cruiser. The Halcyon and Marathon pulled from the SOL Defense Fleet for this. The Admiral had pulled some strings.
"The Fire Tear served as a Cruiser in my fleet ever since twenty five thirty!" The Admiral said. "I've seen them witness combat and be at my side the entire time, for this I thank the crew who served aboard this fine vessel. The Command Team that lead her through multiple engagements and came out alive." The Admiral said and turned towards the Captain. "And the Commanding Officer who lead them into these battles." He added, and walked to his chair.
"All eyes on the view port!" The Admiral said as he turned. "Present! Arms!" The Admiral said, as he snapped his arm up and gave a perfectly practiced salute. To the naval twenty one gun salute, and one of the most memorable Cruisers in the UNSC Fleet.
"Fire one!" The Admiral said, and the Arizona fired it's main gun. "Fire two!" The Admiral said after a fifteen second wait, and the Halcyon fired it's gun. "Fire three!" The Admiral said after another fifteen seconds, and the Marathon fired it's weapon. "Repeat when charged!" The Admiral ordered.
He returned to the podium, and in the background, the particles from the muzzle flashes floated quietly in space, sparkling as they reflected the light from the sun, and passed over an angle and looked like it illuminated the Fire Tear's hull.
"I'm proud that this vessel was crewed by one of the finest crew's in the Navy. Well the vessel its self is being decommissioned and deconstructed, her legacy will live on with every new Marathon II Cruiser that comes off the production line. Her abilities in battle will be missed." The Admiral said, as he again turned towards the Captain. "Permission to decommission your vessel, granted!" The Admiral said, saluting again.
In the background, the third, fourth and fifth MAC rounds exited the Arizona, the Halcyon and Marathon Cruisers. One of the first, and it won't be the last, twenty one gun salute from the Navy.

Matvey snapped in salute, his back rigid and his fingers resting on the bill of the barracks cover sporting the scrambled eggs of his rank, as the three cruisers beyond the observation port fired off a twenty-one gun salute. The honor had been a far reaching tradition, dating back through the ages through the various militaries of Earth and hadn’t lost any of its grandeur or effect. The grand reign of the Halcyons had been coming to a close, one where he had held dreams of commanding one of the venerable cruisers yet his career had branched to the Norva System and ultimately a Marathon cruiser. The Fire Tear had been paired with the Passchendaele during the Engagement of Artifice, had proven advantageous for both crews and for one the Russian Captain from St. Petersburg would sorely miss the venerable cruiser Fire Tear. The notion the Halcyons, in particular the Fire Tear and Matvey had served nearly as long a time in the service of the UNSC had meant both were anachronisms in the modern age. There hadn’t been a time the Russian officer had considered resigning his commission, as the military life had shaped his own identity from the moment of his birth in no small part to his own father and ancestors.
Standing rigid with his arm held steady, Matvey watched as the particles from the MAC rounds illuminated the space behind the Fire Tear’s hull lending a halo-effect around the venerable cruiser. He’d been honored to have been requested for this ceremony, and would treat the Fire Tear’s bridge crew to a round of Vodka from the officer’s club or from a favorite of his in the lunar state of Mare Nubium after this. He’d invite Admiral Klix, and any others that wished to attend.

Once the Admiral gave the ok the decommission the Fire Tear, her crew, besides the bridge crew, including medics, longsword pilots, soldiers. Most of them were being transported to the UNSCS Bismark. So they left the area where the ceremony was held to board pelicans that would take them to their new ship.
Lydia replied with a more shaky but even more rigid professional voice this time. "Executive officer. Secure the Watch." She ordered, emotions now welling over inside of her.
"Aye Aye Captain, the watch has been secured. The UNSCS Fire Tear has been successfully decommissioned." Reported the Executive officer Troy.
"Report Acknowledged." Stated Lydia who then turned toward the Admiral. "Sir! The UNSCS Fire Tear is officially decommissioned and I relinquish my command." She reported, knowing that after the Admiral handed herself and Lieutenant Commander Kathrine Stockolve their mementos the ceremony would be officially over.

The Admiral nodded. He walked towards the Captain of the now decommissioned Halcyon Cruiser. "As a representiive of humanity, and the United Nation Space Command Defense Force, I hear by award you with longevity awards for your service." The Admiral said, as he pinned a medal on the Captain's chest.
Rotating on his heals, as another salvo fired from the UNSC Ships close by, and he closed in on the saluting Lieutenant Commander Kathrine Stockolve. "Stockolve. I am proud to award to with the following longevity awards for your service in the Human Covenant war, and your service with the UNSCS Fire Tear." The Admiral said, as he pinned two medals on the woman's uniform.
He took a step back, saluted, and lowered his arms. "UNSCS Fire Tear is officially decommissioned. I'd like to personally thank the crew that served on this fine vessel." The Admiral said in a matter of fact tone. He was actually very appreciative about there service.
