UNSCS Frigate Joseph
Lieutenant Commander Sarah Martinez
In orbit over planet Kholo
"Ma'am, slip space rupture report matches the profile of the Covenant." The Ops officer quickly replied, "Wait, more.. And more.. This fleet is getting bigger by the numbers!" He added. The Covenant Fleet had materialized out of no where, with large, very large numbers. Radar reports were going off the charts, One thing was clear, Kholo was under attack.
"Shit," The Commander signed. "Comm's! I know our long range communications are damaged. Access the link to the planet side arrays and boost there single. Get my Admiralty at Reach on Alpha Channel."
The Comm's officer went busy to work, attempting to do just that, well the Commander quickly accessed the situation. Three Frigates, that's it. That's all that were orbiting the planet.. No, wait, make that two, including this one. The UNSC Frigate was quickly destroyed as two burning holes were the Bridge used to lay, and the MAC chamber was.
"Weapons, bring MAC gun online! Comm's, sent out a message for the other Frigate to slip-space as soon as they can!" The Commander ordered.
"Commander, why aren't we jumping!" The Navigator said worried. Wiping away some sweat that pooled at the hair line.
"Simple, we need to establish a connection with FLEETCOM!" The Commander responded, quickly glancing at the operator before returning her eyes to the tactical screen. This wasn't going to end well, not at all.
"Commander! The other frigate has been destroyed! Covenant battlegroup moving towards us!" The Ops officer yelled.
The Other frigate quickly came onto the Tactical Display. Twisting, pulling its self in half as it's own rotation snapped her ribs in the middle, and eventually broke into three pieces as multiple plasma torpedoes burned there way through.
"Did they get a link with FLEETCOM!" The Commander yelled, "No ma'am." the Comm's officer replied coldly.
The assault, it was so quick, the slip-space and them attacking... Left the UNSC Naval Forces, or what had been them, speechless. What could the three Frigate do? not much. Not against a fleet this big, and they were still jumping in.
"Ma'am! Comm channel is open! We've picked up Eric Klix, second in command at the Reach Naval Base!" The Ops officer yelled.
"This is Lieutenant Commander Sarah Martinez of the UNSC Joseph. We are orbiting the Planet Kholo and it is under attack!" The Commander talked in desperation
"I understand your situation, and fleets are being mobilized. Estimated time until arrival, three days. Get to a safe distance, Commander. Klix out." The crisp voice replied, before the connection cut.
"Ma'am! Incoming plasma torpedoes!" The Ops officer reported. "Impact in one minute!" He added, and the count-down clock started. Five seconds later, the proximity alarm flared to life.
"Comm's, cut that channel! Weapons, fire everything we have at that lead CCS and get us the hell out of here!" The Commander bellowed.
To late, the Frigate shuddered as the first plasma torpedo had hit, the lights flickered and overhead panels collapsed, knocking the Communication officer on the head, effectively putting her down.
"That torpedo blew our right propulsion system off!" The Engineer reported as a fire started new the main tactical display, and quickly spread, engulfing the entire display system, which cracked and fizzed, before the sprinkler systems activated.
Then the frigate jumped, as it's entire payload of supplies launched. One MAC and dozens of ARCHER missiles.. But the Covenant got a hit with another plasma torpedo.
This time, the torpedo cut threw the Titanium A Armor by the engine room, and severed some primary cables, along with multiple explosive decompression's.
The back and if the frigate gradually melted off, severing the UNSC Frigate from bow to stern. Slowly, the occupants inside would soffocate from lack of oxygen and would die. They could have been saved, but the plasma destroyed the emergency power cables, thus no blast doors closed instead of the auto-pressurized ones. No life pods were launched, and no fires in sections with oxygen put out.
"The fleet is assembled?" The Admiral asked, "Yes sir." The Operations officer replied. "Ready to jump?" The Admiral added.
"Yes, sir," Came a crisp voice from the Navigation officer.
"Good, do it." The Admiral said.
He watched closely as the Titanium A Plates slid over the larger view ports around the ship. The Admiral felts a small jolt, the gravity in the ship go lighter before restoring, all in almost a split second, they had entered slip-space.
On the bridge, battalion commanding officers were waiting. "Shall we?" The Admiral said, pointing towards the briefing room on the other side of the room across the bridge.
Once they were all inside, the Admiral locked and sealed the door. There conversation was to remain private.
"Alright, Battalion Commanders. Kholo city is a major population center. I've devised a few objectives, thus we need to deploy as soon as we exit slip-space, please keep in mind that Admiralty has agreed that these are all top priority objectives. Objective one is evacuating civilians from the city. Objective two is getting to the dig-site." The Admiral paused, turned towards the large screen and pushed a button on his data pad.
The screen hummed to life, and stopped. The picture showing the planet they were last on, "Objective two is similar to the primary objective of the last mission" The Admiral said, and switched the picture again, this one a more urban dig-site. "Our objective this time, is to secure the dig-site and retrieve the data-disks stored in the under ground bunkers." The Admiral added, before the image snapped away and brought in a new one,
This one was covered in white snow, and the large circular identified one thing; A communications outpost. "When the UNSC Forces contacted us, they had to boost the single from these. Sadly, the vessel was destroyed before successfully cutting the connection. If the Covenant find this, and they will. They'll assault it. We need to dis-able the communication relay, by destroying it or cutting the channel to the ." The Admiral said, switching the picture.
And lastly, a personal objective for him and other Naval Forces, were to destroy the Covenant Naval Forces over the planet, but this wouldn't happen, and would most likely be them holding until the Civilian transports evacuated, the information was gained and potentially some hulls from scrapped ships brought into the atmosphere.
"Dino, did you get this?" The Admiral asked. A few seconds later the A.I's voice activated. "Yes, Admiral. I have recorded the conversation as per your request. I do not however have access to video surveillance as you requested for it to be disabled."
"Good, send it across to the UNSC Ships in the fleet, make sure all commanding officers read this. Dismissed!" The Admiral said, "Yes, Admiral, I will send the files to all Commanding Officers within the 14th Tactical Combat Fleet and the Fleet Admiral's fleet. Do you need anything else?" The A.I responded.
Nope, the briefing room was already empty before the Admiral even noticed. All that was left was a ice-nap, and waking up.
