((This is the battle ground for our little Player Versus Player duel. Horle's team and Damion Richards' team battle to the death in a showdown fit for the gods of lower ranking military.)) Private First Class Damion Richards waits patiently in the launch bay of the small UNSC frigate "Death's Condolences" fidgeting with his ammunition belt. After he is satisfied, he straps the belt of bullets onto chest, over the bulging ODST armor he dawns. "Where is that damned marine?" he mutters under his breath as he swipes a sirty rag from the floor and attempts to polish his helmet's visor. Damion and the Liuetenant had been handpicked to investigate the dense jungles of an area designated 'Green Zone'. Damion could understand why. There was nothing but jungle for hundreds of miles in any direction, it would be impossible to discover anything strange even in a couple of years. Damion sighed and tossed the rag to a desolate corner of the room. He picked up his DMR and adjusted the sighting. He had picked up an infra-red scope from the armory before heading to the launch bay. The coordinates were set to drop a few dozen feet from the LRV the marine would be dropped in, though the corrdinate graph had been a little glitchy. Damion had reported it to the head technition, but received ignorance. Damion calmly placed on his helm and sat back against the pod he would be jettisoned down in, careful not to bend or break the weaponry on his back. A DMR and a machete. He began to doze a bit and after a few seconds, he fell asleep. Completely forgetting that he wasn't to meet the marine until they landed.

Killinger sat in his M808 Scorpion Battle Tank... Ok, it wasn't his and it was blown up too, but it provided a quick place to rest up on, he slowly lit his cigar, savoring the flavor. He un-clipped his two gold bars that identified his rank and tossed them into the exposed drivers seat of the tank. He didn't want any Covenant bitches to see that he was an Officer in the UNSC Marine Core.
He grabbed his Shotgun and put twelve shells into it's receiver. He did the same with stashing two grenades into his web-belt and finishing off with three stun grenades. His last weapon, a powerful handgun called the "M6D Magnum", firing .50 Caliber rounds, and slammed the twelve round magazine into the mag well, pulled the slide back and the weapon chambered one of the powerful rounds, he was good to go.
He grabbed his twelve inch combat knife and slipped it into it's sheath, climbed into the drivers seat and started the warthog again, drifting back into savoring his cigars flavor.

Damion started to twitch as his dreams sent him plunging into a battlefeild with no cover. He had been surrounded by five Elite zealots when he had slipped from his resting spot and landed on the floor. He cursed undr his breath and realized his HUD was flashing with a message from the Captain.
"Liuetenant Killinger and Private Richards. Prepare to drop. Richards get in your pod. Killinger, the engineering team will be hooking up the LRV to your pelican. Get ready, and give 'em hell."
Damion listened intently and after the orders were clear and given he typed in a four digit code into the pad next to the drop pod. The pod's door slid open, revealing the tiny cockpit and weapon holders. He placed his weapons in the slots and locked them into place before strapping in. He tapped the four digit code into a keypad inside of the pod and the door slid closed. The countdown timer started at thirty seconds.

Horle crashes his banshee into one of the trees. He jumped out in time to land on the ground and to hide. Horle looked up to see a frigate just overhead. Thinking he could be in trouble, Horle looked around to see if any weapons were around. He didn't find any but he did have his own, so he looked for cover around, but since the smoke of the plasma would draw alot of attention if he stuck around here for to long. So he started off to the river.

Telus moved quickly through the trees, being born on Dosac one knew how to move quickly through branches. He landed on a branch just in time to see the sangheili he was supposed to protect. He sighed as it plowed head first into a tree and practically fell out of its banshee.
He dropped down to the lower branches and looked down at the sangheili, drawing his shot gun in case he needed to stop the fool from getting killed, he COM'ed the other sangheili.
"For a sangheili he seems very unskilled..." he said watching it blunder about. He was using secure channel that was encrypted.

"Liuetenant Killinger and Private Richards. Prepare to drop. Richards get in your pod. Killinger, the engineering team will be hooking up the LRV to your pelican. Get ready, and give 'em hell."
Killinger gave the engineering team a nod. "Clip me in, just don't drop me!" Killinger barked. "Yes sir, are you sure?" The Engineer asked.
"Look soldier. It may be against regulations, but think of it this way. They drop me with a running warthog, and by the time the pelican even has a chance to take off I'm already on my way to my objectives." Killinger replied.
"I understand sir. It might get bumpy, but nothing will happen." The Engineer said. Killinger nodded in reply.
About three minutes later, the Pelican was on it's way down, towards the surface. Killinger was actually ENJOYING the ride down, swinging left and right in what was supposed to be a stationary vehicle clipped to its tail.

-BOOM- The pod exploded from the frigate's launch deck, heading for the surface of the lush jungle below, before Damion could get a comm signal through to the Pelican that was dropping Killinger however, he was caught unawares by a sudden swerve of his pod. The coordinatess on his HUD repidly changed as his pod went farther and farther from the Pelican and his LZ. He slammed his helmeted head into the dashboard of the pod and was knocked unconccious, despite the minimal protection of a helmet, the pressure was too much.
The pod crashed into a thick area of kilometer high trees. It was caught by the strong jungle vines about thirty feet from the ground. The pod hung there, like a man strung up for murder, the man inside unaware of his predicament as the sirens wailed to no effect.

When Horle got to the river, he heard something in the trees and pointed his needle rifle at the trees. Seeing nothing he put down his weapon and looked around for any humans and started across the river. He kept a close eye on his surroundings and shit anything that seemed to be a threat. He also started to look up at the ship wondering why the human's haven't dropped any soldiers off to check the crash site. So, he started to look around for any human's. He saw something drop off of the ship and went to see if any survivors were around to kill.

"Lieutenant, your going to have to go get the ODST.. Took a hard landing." A voice came through his comm channel. "Figures..." He Lieutenant responded, grunting after he closed the channel.
The ground was about ten feet down, then the pelican pilot released the warthog. The vehicle crashed down on the dirt, and the Lieutenant nearly kicked the accelerator down onto the floor, heading towards the navigation dot on his right eye piece.
He dodged trees, left then to the right. The rear tire slammed into a tree that had fallen down, no damage, but the jolt didn't feel to good. The Lieutenant pushed the accelerator down harder, pushing the vehicle to is maximum speed, rushing towards the dot that said 750 Meters.
The Lieutenant, reasonable was a tad bit annoyed. The ODST was supposed to land BEFORE the Lieutenant... He was in a HEV pod after all. The Lieutenant didn't understand. Generally, the HEV pods were for atmospheric entries, not in atmosphere entries. So he was kinda glad that the HEV pod stopped in the vines, or the ODST might have been killed.
A few minutes passed, and the Lieutenant stopped his warthog. The pod swaying slightly to the left and right by the gentle breeze presented by the planet. "Hey, dumbass... You alive in there!" He said.
Killinger found a sizable rock, and chucked it at the pod, the loud clanking noise echoed through out the forest, but only once. So he threw some more, and some more... And some more, trying to make contact.

Horle heard a crash toward the forest's tree's so, he started toward it, but, he would have to get there fast, then he looked at the tree's. He climbed up one and started to jump branch to branch.
He thought he would get there twice as fast. So, he headed towards the crash site. Except he would have to rest first. He looked around for a good spot to rest in, then he saw a odd looking tree.
He rested there until later the afternoon, then he started toward's the crash again. Going faster this time, he was well rested and ready to go kill some humans.

Damion was jarred from his forced R and R by a continus clanking sound that resonated from the outside of his pod. He shook his head to clear the fog that clouded his vision.
"Damned Jungle." He kicked up a latch on the inside of the pod and grabbed his weapons, still locked securely into place. He placed an armored boot to the pod's door and shoved outward. The door gave way and fell thirty feet to the jungle floor. Damion hoped that the marine moved fast, because a half ton sheet of solid titanium would hurt like hell. Damion checked to make sure he grabbed everything from the pod before slipping out onto an adjacent tree trunk.
"Yea yea, liuetenant. I'm fine." He proceeded to fall from branch to branch and, when he was only ten feet from the ground, he hopped down. He landed with a soft, squishy thud as his boots sunk into the muddy forest floor. He plucked each boot out with a satisfying *Schlick* and shook of the disgusting, mottled bits of green moss and wet dirt.
"You wouldn't happen to have some advil, would ya?" he asked with a smirk from beneath his helmet before climbing onto the chaingunner's spot on the back of the LRV. He constantly shook his head, hoping his vision would clear. He chinned in two commands into his helmet. One, an estimated distane to the river that they had spotted in the frigate, and two, the area's layout. A list of dangerous animals, insects, and arachnids, and a list of poisonous plants.

The ODST asked for Advil, so you know what the Lieutenant said. "Yeah, I do. Don't tell anyone." as he climbed into the drivers seat, lifting his chest armor plate up and pulled out a small bag containing four round white pills.
"I'm an officer..." He simply joked, standing up and placing the pull by the chainguns ammo box, it wouldn't move when he decided to go. He pushed the accelerator down, launching the vehicle forward.
"Killinger, from our areal advantage, we see some smoldering wreckage. Check it out and report, over?" His comm channel whined to life, "Roger that. I'll check out our mysterious friend..." The Lieutenant replied, then stomped the breaks.
"What the fuck is that!" Killinger said. The creature was a large (( Halo: Reach - Nightfall Animal )) animal that looked like it could destroy a Covenant Army. "Err... Yeah, we will just go around it." The Lieutenant said, pushing the accelerator down again.
It was a ugly mother fucker, that was for sure... Almost as ugly as those Covenant species.

Telus kept following the sangheili who ran to the river and suddenly spun, sweeping the trees. Telus laughed as he swept over him and didn't see him, he decided to keep like that as to not allow this sangheili to give away his position.
He kept following him, painting him for the other sangheili so as to not lose his position. He snorted as the sangheili moved up and began to attempt to jump through the trees, Telus laughed, staying higher up and moving a little back from the sangheili. He laughed again when the sangheili stopped and laid in tree. He decided it was better to wait and make sure that the sangheili wasn't going to do some thing stupid.

When Horle woke up, he was full of energy. Then he heard something following him in the branches. So he started off to the droppod jumping tree to tree and only to stop to make sure that whoever was following was not a human. He would've been killed in his sleep then.
Horle felt that this thing that followed him was hunting him, so, Horle turned around and saw nothing. Then, he saw tree branches moving, it turned out to be a harmless animal. Horle started to follow the smoke again.

Before Damion could ask the marine, Killinger answered. "Well I sure am glad I have you as my guardian." Damion said and popped two of the pills. He felt immediate relief and zipped the bag shut. "Are these 400 milligram?" he asked after a few minutes of silence. He noted the giant creature the liuetenant swerved to avoid. The ODST contemplated firing at the thick hide of the beast but decided against it. There was no need to waste ammo just to piss it off. Damion then saw the black smoke in the distance. A camp fire? There weren't supposed to be any other squads in this maze of trees. " Think that may be a covie?" He asked, highlighting the area on the warthog's tac pad. Damion's lip twitched, anticipating battle. He kept a close eye on his HUD, looking for heat signatures. " Sir, maybe we should pull over, get a little dirty, and cover our heat ID's.

"Think that may be a covie?" The ODST asked, then did something with this tac-pad. "Sir, maybe we should pull over, get a little dirty, and cover our heat ID's."
The Lieutenant thought for a second, and decided against it. They were after all in a warthog, they would see the two men coming one way or another, "If we get out and go on foot maybe, but at the time being no. We are in a vehicle that is generating heat, and if it is Covenant I'd rather stay in the vehicle that's got a chain gun on it."
The Lieutenant stopped the Warthog, pulled up his Data Pad from the passenger seat and linked the image to an areal scan from the Frigate overhead. He placed a way-point on the location.
"Alright, so once we get their, we'll hope out, climb a tree and view the smoke. If it's Covenant, we will report it, hop back in the 'Hog and try to find some Covenant soldiers." The Lieutenant joked, and pushed the accelerator to the floor, again.

Damion nodded and returned to silence, listening to the hum of the warthog they swerved past countless trees and unidentified animals. He kept focused on the road ahead, but couldn't help but feeling that something was wrong. He spoke his concerns, "Maybe we should head for the river before we go into the greater unknown. If there are covies then they probably are camped out near water. We don't wanna walk straight into an ambush." Damion turned off his comm after the suggestion and waited for a response. The roar of the warthog was sure to alert any covenant in the jungle and lead the soldiers straight to their encampment, if there was one. The ODST kept an eye on his HUD as he turned the mounted 50 cal to face the rear of the LRV. He was praying for one of the bastards to pop into his sights.

"Take a look at the map I plotted out. I'm not that dumb, going straight in is damn near suicide. I've got experience, I am a Lieutenant after all, by experience. I'm taking us far right, towards the river but not close enough to be seen. I'll look for a more dense part of the jungle to hide our vehicle." The Lieutenant said.

"Alright sir." Damion had to admit, this marine knew what he was doing. Maybe they wouldn't die a horrible, unknown death after all. He started to hum along with the engine as they went. After a few minutes Damion reached up and managed to snatch a large leaf from a tree that had been hanging over the narrow clearing that they drove through. He worked on the stem of the giant leaf and eventually hung it so it dragged on the ground behind the hog, covering their tracks with a thin layer of mud. Before the marine could ask about it Damion said,
"This leaf should cover our tracks, in case we have anyone pursuing us after we check out the river."

"This leaf should cover our tracks, in case we have anyone pursuing us after we check out the river." The ODST said.
"Won't work, Marine. The leaf isn't heavy enough to hide the tracks in their entire. When we stop on the river, we will find something bigger, make something if we have too." The Lieutenant responded.
He was thinking the same leafs, tied up with jungle vine, with rocks added to the mesh, but even then the weight of this vehicle would probably out weight the ability for the custom device to hide the 'Hogs track..

Horle went back, he gave up, knowing that it would take a day to get there. So, he headed back to his ship. He thought is that he would go back, that the human could've noticed it by now, so, he started towards his ship. Knowing that something is following him, he could use something to draw it out to attack or make it surrender.

Damion kept humming with the engine, waiting for something to shoot. He swerved the chain gun left and right, looking for any sign of danger. "Liuetenant? This thing go any faster?" He smiled and tried to hold back his bloodlust. The damned Covenant had gone far enough into UNSC controlled space. He chinned in a command on his helmet, clearing the visor to a two-way mirror setting. He hoped that seeing their own reflection would startle any Covie bastards.

"Liuetenant? This thing go any faster?" The ODST said, seeming inpatient, "Yes it can, Private." The Lieutenant said, pushing the accelerator down faster. He swerved to avoid a tree, then another. The only risk about going fast was hitting a tree and having the vehicle be damaged or destroyed, so the Lieutenant stomped onto the gas pedal, turned to the right and went at top speed down a stretch of the not so dense part of the jungle.
"We should be their in... Five minutes. Maybe." The Lieutenant said. He accessed his Neural Lace and put a areal scan of the map onto his eye piece. He zoomed in on the wreckage and noticed the purple from the tip of the wing when the wind pushed away some of the smoke. He already knew this, as the fleet was being contested with in orbit, and the only surviving Frigate had dropped them off.
"Covenant contact confirmed VIA Areal Scans." The Lieutenant informed. It would change his tactics, he was no longer on the defensive, rather... He needed to be on the offensive.

Damion grinned even wider as the warthog lurched forward at a faster pace. As they came closer, he noted the hue of the wreckage. Covenant had definitely landed. The ODST's grin had faded and he focused more on the task at hand. Eliminating the threats. He looked at the map on his HUD. Clear of any enemy signatures.
He kept a tight grip on the chaingun, keeping an eye out for any and all forms of sentient life other than the marine.

Horle walked back to the crash site, tired from jumping in the trees. He looked around and saw nothing. Horle smirked and said, "All too easy." Horle started to build his trap, hiding in the bushes and pulled out his curve blades for a ambush.

Killinger released the gas medal, resulting in the Warthog coasting. The vehicle was still going fast enough for the Lieutenant to turn the warthog in the general direction of the smoke. He was going to go on the offensive. The tri-barreled weapon and the ODST manning it would be their horse.
He stopped, past the trees were the soft blue of the river, and the soft sound of the river roaring past it's containment walls. It sight took him back into time, peaceful, quiet. It reminded him of camping.
The reality of it was, it was ALMOST too peaceful, and the thought of this Forest on flames brought him back into reality. He pushed the gas pedal, leveled off the wheels and the vehicle shot forward, in a slightly "To the right" of the smoke.
"New plan. We'll stop near the river. I've got a set of binoculars somewhere. Ground intelligence is always better then an areal scan. It could perhaps be a crashed banshee that struggled to get into the atmosphere... Or something." The Lieutenant said, hoping what he just said was true.

Looking around for the person following him, he looked up at the trees and saw something moving. Horle then climbed up to see what it was. He saw a quick shadow of movement. He said to it, "Stop, or else I will shoot you." Seeing the movement again Horle reached for his needle rifle.

Telus snorted at the minor finally picking up on him.
"Shoot me foolish sangheili!" he roared staying out of visual from the stupid minor "If you dare enrage a member of the fiercest race in the covenant!"
He still had his shot gun out, pumping a round and moving with amazing speed through the trees.

Horle put down his gun down and said, "You could've just told me your race and I wouldn't shoot you." he said calmly. Looking around Horle said, "Be careful, humans are around." Horle points at the frigate then says, "Let's set a trap brother, ambush the humans, I hide in the bushes, you hide up here, drop down when I need you. We will work together to kill these human." Horle put out his energy dagger and said, "For the prophets brother."
