0825 Hours, March 12, 2532 (UNSC military calendar)/ UNSC Airfield, Glasgow; Albert, 111 Tauri System
ONI captain Richard Miles looked at the horrid battle below him; the Covenant have ripped through the defenses of the UNSC forces like a wave. Destroying key areas with brutal success and now they moved to destroy the civilians’ only chance of escape.
Focusing his helm-mounted camera on the battlefield, he could see the blurring movements of the avian aliens with plated bodies classified ‘Skirmishers’ as they ripped at the fighting marines, whose human abilities cannot completely match with the almost supernatural speed of the Jackal subspecies.
Yet to his surprise, he saw amongst the feather-crested birds were a pair of Saurian beings, clad in decorated golden and red armor, universally called ‘Elites’, and from the look of their armor were officers.
They moved with almost the same speed as the Skirmishers but they were less flexible and agile due to the Skirmishers’ less built bodies. The shorter one moved with a more frenzied movement to it, looking abit awkward with its stock build,holding not the normal plasma rifle or needler, but a pair of long knives that cut and sliced at any marine unfortunate enough to get caught in its attacks, which appeared both graceful and furious.
The Elite officer roared with deep bellow as he butchered every man or woman that caught its orange eyes. Miles was disgusted by the slaughter, even though he has seen videos of the gorilla-like Brutes before, and so decided to turn to another subject;
Not far from his partner, the much taller and younger officer attacked with a primitive weapon as well; a thick staff with blades on either end. It moved like a viper, zipping place to place with incredible speed and striking just as quick. Each thrust or swing was lethal; it wasn’t as gory as the former’s attacks.
The Elite thrown a marine across the airfield and let out a lower war cry. Pausing the frame, Mile took analyzed it more closely, and cringed at its face.
It was natural to find a Elite with a few battle scars, but this one was just ugly. Its face was deformed from some kind of burning incident, probably caught in a plasma explosion, and one of its green eyes were glazed and blank. Blinded. To further its ugly face was that it was more crab-like with more tusks on its mandibles, which didn’t help with its already vicious fangs.
Why is aliens always so ugly, Miles thought to himself. Just then he heard a particular loud scream, aiming his head-and camera-to the origin, he saw a large golden-armored Skirmisher pulling from a sudden flare of purple mist, and human body parts falling to the ground. It screeched a horrible noise before zipping through the field with two long crystalline blades in hand.
A marine-Miles’ HUD identified as Pvt. Hyden-tried to shoot at it with a DMR but the Skirmisher simply slid from the bullets before leaping to the air. At first thinking it was going to stab him, Hyden held out his gun to defend himself, but the Skirmisher fell beside his blind side, and stabbed one of its blades into his kidney, and rushed away as the poor private screamed before exploding into a shower of powdered crystal, blood, and body parts.
As he watched in intrigue of this battle, recording for his higher-ups, almost didn’t hear the snap of wood behind him. Almost.
Quickly dodging and rolling to his side, close to the edge of the cliff that he perched on, Miles quickly unholstered his M6G handgun, and aimed at what seemed a wavering patch of air with a hovering blade of light in its midst.
"Dirty stealth troops!" He muttered before firing. The bullets missed at first but finally hit the heated air.
The bullets pinged as they were deflected by a flashing energy shield that protected its marks, but soon the active camo deactivated, revealing not just any Black Ops Elite, but a huge Black Ops Elite.
The Elite was huge, muscles straining against its jumpsuit, and clad in a fitted harness of sleek black armor. Its face hidden under a almost skeleton mask and its shielded eyes flashed in a menacing glare, as a even more frightening growl rumbled from its throat.
“You are one big bad alien aren’t ya.” Miles said nervously and the Elite snarled as it wavered its blade threateningly, well aware and confident of its far more greater advantage over Miles.
The camera stared at the giant before it unleashed a terrible earth-shaking roar before it went out with Miles' screams.
