You have untill friday to make these.
Ra’aksum Army
Organization:
-File: eight men
-Lance: 2-3 files
-Choir: 3-10 lances
-Division: Cavalry, Infantry, Ballista men, etc. Each division has many choirs.
-Legion: An army made up of all the divisions.
Weapons:
Blades:
-Curve blade: A short, dagger like weapon, which looks somewhat like half of an energy sword. Like all sangheili weapons, the blade is made of steel.
-Short sword: Gripped like an energy sword, it has the same hand guard that extends around up to the wrist on both sides, but only has one blade protruding from the front. It is not quite as long as an energy sword.
-Broadsword: Basically a steel energy sword, this blade is a sign of status. Only the highborn are allowed to utilize it.
Spears:
-20 ft: Utilized by foot soldiers, can be used as a thrown weapon if necessary, and performs this function fairly well
-24 ft. lance: Used by cavalry to assault the first lines of enemy infantry. Designed to break off in a target so as to allow the cavalryman to remain seated. This also makes them more easily producible, but one time use only.
Ranged:
-Bow: the Ra’aksum use huge seven-foot bows strung with stone wyrm tendon. This weapon is extraordinarily powerful, and fire six-foot arrows.
-Atlatl: This ancient spear thrower may not have the range, accuracy, or rate of fire of a bow, but it does have one redeeming quality, power. The user can put almost as much force into his spear as that of a ballista, and some skilled sangheili can throw with enough power to launch a spear into a tree and out the other side. Atlatrls easily punch through any armor and will easily knock a grown sangheili in armor to the ground, and if there is another behind him, both will be skewered. The reason for this kind of power is simple: the spear thrower itself amplifies the user’s strength by over a hundred times, and as sangheili are extraordinarily strong, this is significant. Also, the atlatl is often used while mounted, amplifying its power even more.
War Machines:
-Ballista: A large spear thrower designed to kill distant or high priority targets, or for anti material purposes. No living thing can survive a ballista bolt.
Shield: A Ra’aksum shield consists of fire hardened wood, with a steel plate covered by stone wyrm hide. War glyphs are often painted upon it.
Ra’aksum Infantry:
Organization:
One lance (a file of swordmen, a file of spearmen, and one file of archers) are led by a single Major.
Soldier (minor): This is your average Ra’aksum citizen. All Ra’aksum, including peasants, are trained in war to some extent. Because of this, your average Ra’aksum soldier peasant is the equivalent of an elite infantryman in any other army.
-Equipment: Soldiers are either spearmen or swordsmen. Swordsmen carry a short sword, a shield, and a curve blade. Spearmen carry a 20 ft. spear and a curve blade. Swordsmen have a notch on one shoulder plate so that a spear can be steadied there.
-Armor: Steel helmet, chest plate, leg guards, arm guards, over a layer of leather armor. Metal studded gloves and boots.
Archer (minor):
These specially trained soldiers comprise the marksmen of the Ra’aksum legions. They are equipped with a massive seven-foot bow firing a six-foot arrow.
-Equipment: Bow, curve blade.
-Armor: Leather armor with metal helmet and arm guards.
Major:
These veteran soldiers are not necessarily high born, and lead a lance of a file of soldiers and a file of archers into battle.
-Equipment: Standard curve blade, short sword, shield. If highborn, they will use a broadsword.
-Armor: Same armor as soldiers but with captains’ helmet and markings.
Ultra: Leads a Choir. Is always highborn. Usually wears family armor, and wields a broadsword.
Fieldmaster: Commands infantry. Wears custom designed armor or family armor.
Ra’aksum Cavalry:
Organization:
One lance of cavalry consists of sixteen cavalrymen led by a major.
Cavalry Minors:
These soldiers ride Stone Wyrms, a mount favored by the Ra’aksum for its ability to scale walls. They can also be quite vicious in battle, with jaws more than capable of killing a grown sangheili. They act as the shock troops of the Ra’aksum, confronting enemy infantry directly. Their lances are perfect for killing enemies before they can get in close, and are designed to break off in the enemy upon impact. Often, the cavalry will ride towards enemies, using their lances to smash through the first lines, before pulling out their blades and wreaking havoc up close. Additionally, atlatls are used. Although significantly less accurate than a bow, the power behind the spear being thrown is unmatched by any other personal projectile weapon. At twenty meters, a spear from an atlatl will not only knock a grown sangheili in armor to the ground, but impale him entirely, ignoring steel plate as if it were paper.
-Equipment: Cavalrymen ride into battle with a 24 ft. lance, a short sword, and an atlatl, atop an armored stone wyrm.
-Armor: Both cavalrymen and their mounts are covered in heavy steel plate from head to toe, making them heavy, but invulnerable to many weapons.
Major:
Same as men, with major markings. Usually highborn. Because of this, variations in weaponry are allowed, although the same weapon types are usually used.
Ultra: Leads multiple lances of cavalry (a choir). Basically the same as an ultra of the infantry, but mounted.
Field Master: Leads entire cavalry division.
Ra’aksum Ballista men:
The only war machines utilized by the Ra’aksum are their ballistae, which they can fire with deadly accuracy. A team of ballista men is made up of three sangheili. One to crank one side, one the other, and a third to load and shoot. The loader is in command, and gives tells the other two where to aim the weapon. Only the strongest sangheili are chosen for this duty, as it requires a significant amount of force to crank the weapon, even for a sangheili.
-Equipment: curve blade
-Armor: Leather armor
Ranks:
-Minor: Cranks weapon
-Major: Is in charge of Weapon
-Ultra: Is in charge of up to ten ballistae. This is the only time when a non highborn soldier may attain the rank of ultra.
Field Master: Is In charge of entire division.
Tehastrim:
As I will be GM, I’ll tell you in official posts what exactly is coming at you. You will then RP against this threat until I post again. I will not be RPing, although I will controll NPCs.
Character Creation:
Name:
Division:
Rank: (Soldier Minor (spearman or swordsman), Archer Minor, Major, Ultra, Ballistaman Minor, Cavalry Minor Etc. Any rank above ultra will be NPC.
Status: (Highborn, Peasant, Merchant, etc.)
Strengths: (Try to have 3 – 5)
Weaknesses: (Try to have 2 – 3 good ones)
Bio: One paragraph. Should mostly be about reasons for joining the army. Nothing more than four sentences is required.
If there is anything wrong with your character, I will tell you to fix it. However, these should be pretty simple to make. Post your character below.
