Master Sergeant Dante Frost | Sector 1 - Ridge overlooking Crimson Morning |
Dante had finally regrouped his squad from the less than convenient drop. Their pods had been scattered throughout the frozen tundra and it was an arduous task to reconvene with all of his squadmates.
"Headcount." He called out, finally catching his breath in the high altitude climate. Dante called out names and everyone answered. "Alright, I'm not going to pretend I know what the hell's going on right now, but for now. I want Bravo on patrol around this shithole until we can find out what's going on. Except for Jones; your on long range lookout. Get up on that ledge to get a better view with your sniper."
Bravo moved out and Dante called for Gonzalez. "Sergeant get me the radio." Gonzalez trekked toward Dante with radio in hand. Dante grabbed it and immediately set it for all frequencies. "This is ODST Gamma squad reporting in. Everyone is fine here, but we have no coordinates. All I can tell you is that we are in close proximity to the crash site. Does anyone read? Over."

Master Sergeant Dante Frost | Sector 1 - Ridge overlooking Crimson Morning |
Dante sighed. Saving a SPARTAN was something he didn't want to do. Not only were they arrogant SOB's but he would be risking his whole squad for just one of there asses. At least they wouldn't have to go it alone.
"Alright," He called through the COMM, "we've got orders to rescue SPARTAN 114. Everyone on me." The squad regrouped at the edge of the cliff. "Now, we're not going this alone. We have reinforcements coming in by air. I say we scout this place out and clear an LZ for the birds."
Gamma split into fireteams and scouted along the cliffside. "Sir," I heard over the COMM. "We have hostiles on the base of the ridge. looks like a squad of elites with a couple of grunts in tow." Wild called out.
"I gotcha" Dante said, gripping his BR24 tightly. "Wild, you move Bravo left and Alpha will go right. We'll ambush the Covenant and attack in a pincer formation.

Master Sergeant Dante Frost | Sector 1 - Ridge overlooking Crimson Morning |
Fireteam Alpha closed in on the Elite formation quietly. The heavy haze of the snowy ridge covered their advances. Fortunately, the Elites were not aware whatsoever of the ODSTs' approach. The fireteams acquired good cover from rocks facing the Covenant troops and Dante tagged targets in his HUD for his squad and uplinked them to their HUD's. A ready check went through the squad and everyone checked green. Go time.
Dante opened up by launching a grenade into the unsuspecting group Elites and Grunts. It detonated, taking out a couple of each race and wounding a couple more. "Nice placement." Dante said to himself, as he switched to burst on his BR24 and let loose. Fire started erupting from both sides and plasma bolts flew extremely close to Dante's head. However, the element of surprise had served them well and the Covenants numbers had been reduced by the ambush enough to make the fight about even.
"Stay low!" Frost called through the COMM. He would pop in and out of cover firing into the crowd of poorly covered Covenant. The Grunts were in disarray and the Elites were having to yell out orders to panicked fodder. The Elites' prowess was not overestimated though; their shots were straight and true, punishing the ODST's defenses.
"This is Gamma," Frost called through the radio. "we have engaged a Covenant patrol on the lower ridge. The LZ is hot, I repeat LZ is hot. Landing is not advised. Over."

Master Sergeant Dante Frost | Sector 1 - Ridge overlooking Crimson Morning |
The rain of projectiles on the ridge continued as the battle raged on. Dante shifted his position against the rigid rock which was providing his cover. He had a better look this time and put a burst right into the chest of an Elite. His purple blood sprayed across one of his Grunt allies causing him to panic and run aimlessly until Jones picked him off with a well placed sniper shot.
"Squid on our right." I heard over the COMM. Wild had called out an Elite who had flanked us. Unfortunately, before we could pump approximately five tons of lead into his shields and then body, he put a plasma blot into O'Shea's chest. The Elite then proceeded to crumple into a gory mess.
"We need immediate medical attention on Private O'Shea. Gonzalez, go, I'll cover you."
The squad medic rushed from cover to cover to where O'Shea was laying. Luckily, he only had minor burns. The plasma had burnt through only bits in his armor and seared his skin lightly under them.
Dante went for the radio again. "We have WIA on the ground here. We could use some help. However, I advise, LZ is hot. Find a safer spot to land, over."

Captain Mitchell Pierce | Sector 03: Glacier Section Upspin |
While waiting for Sergeant Major Leonard to return to base, Captain Pierce messed around with his comm, and finally was able to gain a clear signal from the chatter coming in from Sector 1. He was glad that one of the techs managed to fix up the radio tower more to get a better signal. "This is Captain Mitchell Pierce," he said into the comm, "Sorry for the delay, you were coming in with a shitfest of static until we were finally able to clear it up. I'd like to speak to the one in charge of Gamma Squad. Give me a full report of what's going on over there. Over."

Master Sergeant Dante Frost | Sector 1 - Ridge overlooking Crimson Morning |
Dante finally heard a voice coming from the other side of the radio. "We have contact guys, just sit tight!" He called to his squad. They were still hunkered down behind makeshift cover during a storm of plasma and metal.
"This is Master Sergeant Dante Frost of Gamma, Captain Price. We are pinned down in Sector 1 on a ridge in close proximity to the crash site. We have contact with Covenant troops at the bottom. We're currently in a stalemate, and some assistance would be mighty useful right now." Frost reported over the radio.
"Grenade!" Someone called out.
A flash of fantastic blues and purple littered the ground next to Dante. He was blown into the open by the sheer force of the explosion. He went prone, switching to automatic and simply let loose on the enemy, hoping to suppress them back into their holes. A shot nicked his left shoulder plate and melted the metal that protected (or so he thought) his body.
In a moment of luck and nothing else, Dante was able to crawl back to his cover and catch his breath.

Captain Mitchell Pierce | Sector 03: Glacier Section Upspin |
Captain Pierce listened and thought for a moment before replying to him. "Alright, Master Sergeant Frost," he said, "I'll see if I can issue a strike team who could arrive to your location to help you take out some of those Covies enough so you and your team can continue on with your objective." While adding, "Switch to private comm and give me your coodinates and await for further instructions. Stand by."

OOC: Finally! Hallam's Shadow is inbound heading towards the Crashsite to pick up that Spartan and help you lot out!
Post: Reilly looked out of the Shadow and saw the destination; The Crimson Morning. Still smoking from it's Covenant's bombing raid and the firing of the missle pods. He froze for a second, remembering the firefight that had almost ended his life, that large blob of blue plasma. He blinked and saw that they where nearing the Morn faster than expected.
'About time too!' he thought looking down the sniper scope trying to see any friendlie's on the scene.

There hadn't been much for Dread Lance to investigate at the crash site, the entirety of the human ship had collapsed in upon itself, crushing anything inside. Still, Kgxo had his orders, and now wasn't the time for Dread Lance to take a break, as the whole of the Covenant forces were moving in for the attack.
But the humans had apparently taken the hint when the ship was destroyed, diverging from the area completely. Dread Lance had checked and rechecked every pit and crater near the ship, and any part of the ship itself the Humans could have used as cover. He reported the ship as secure, and coincidentally watched a lone Shadow approach.
He deactivated his camouflage and opened the communications, “Shadow! What are you doing? This area has already been secured, head back to sector two, or find somewhere else to go,” Kgxo didn't want anything to do with the damned Shadow. He was sure it was filled with a minor domo and a bunch of grunts, which they would do nothing but yap and yell, potentially scaring off any humans Dread Lance was sent to get rid of.

Reilly looked at Sergeant Wilson. “I hope one of your squad understood that” he pointed towards a covenant communication device which had beeped and blipped. He then saw something that worried him. An Elite. Where there’s an Elite, there’s a squad under it’s command. “Contact!” Richard uttered looking from Hallam to Wilson, wondering what would happen next.

"Shadow! Stop now and turn back!" Kgxo demanded.
Kgxo wondered what the hell the shadow was doing, the damned thing hadn't even slowed its aproach. This was very strange, and Kgxo ordered Dread Lance to get there weapons at the ready. Kgxo hoped it was just a dumb Elite at the helm of the Shadow, and that he would just have to yell at him before sending him off, but he wanted to be ready for anything.
"Stop now dammit," Kgxo ordered again.

"Matter of fact, Ike is an expert of interstellar communications" Wilson said, deadpan. Over the course of the next few seconds, Wilson did a face palm.
"Sweet Jesus!" He yelled at the pilot "Are you trying to draw attention or are you blind! Divert away from them, we'll find another way to the objective where there aren't so many of the little blue bastards."
The pilot would either hear him or not, but damned if he would get wasted by an alien rocket on purpose. "If it gets hot I want you all to know...I hate this planet, and should any of you survive you are to go to the top brass, tell them the location of this god foresaken world, and make sure it burns. Burns!"

Reilly smiled, the sergeant certainly knew how to motivate people. He looked at the driver of the Shadow, knowing that whatever happened, battle would commence. Maybe at another location, perhaps in different circumstances, but it would be done. “Sir, we’ve rockets onboard, they could deal with the Covie’s if we got closer in” Reilly mentioned as he stowed his sniper away. No he would not fire, the Covenant where still fooled into thinking that it was a stray Shadow or something of the sort. Which was fine by him. Just fine.

Kgxo's was finished with threats, "Shadow driver, stop now, we are coming aboard. Otherwise, be ready to be blown apart."
Kgxo didn't have much, but he hoped the eight grenades that the squad had brought with them would be enough destroy, or atleast hault the advancing vehicle. Kgxo ordered Lekt and Vorka, each still camouflaged, to the left flank of the vehicle. At Kgxo's command, they each prepared a grenade, ready to be thrown on Kgxo's cue.

Reilly looked towards Sgt. Hallam and shouted loudly “Over there sir, Enemy!” He checked his sight and swore loudly, the Shadow veered away from the threat. “Can I engage?” he asked looking towards some of his fellow passengers who prepared their weapons including a Rocket Launcher. If battle did commence, it would be short, bloody and messy. Reilly readied himself, waiting for Hallam to take command and assess the situation.

"Not unless they reach for a grenade or something, we don't know where we stand, we don't want to break cover." Wilson said.
He tried to think like one of the Covenant, but having that much power was too far off for him.
He looked at one of the screens in the Shadow. "Why are they just staring at us? I would think even the Covenant capable of action if one of their own acted strange."
"Sarge" Fitzgerald said "Say we did get away, wouldn't this group give away our position?"
"Well now...Watch 'em carefully Reilly, if you smell any funny buissness, take them out with avengeance."

The vehicle didn't stop, but veered off into another direction, Kgxo had lost his patience, "Lekt, get on that vehicle and survey whats inside. If its anything but Covenant destroy it."

As the vehicle changed course, the Covenantn troops appeared to just stare at it.
"Well then, I think we just dodged a bullet, congratulations boys, beers on me." Wilson said.
The Shadow shook under an impact, not waeapons, but a mass of some sort. The screens showed nothing but snow. Maybe even a shimmer through that, but no video system was even perfect.
"Hold that thought. How are we gonna check it without the ones watching noticing?" Fitzgerald said.

The Shadow shook and rocked from side to side slightly, as if some kind of extra weight had been added. I peered around the side of the Shadow and was met by a giant mass of fur. I quickly shot back into my seat and whispered to Reilly.
"Reilly... There is a brute on my Shadow. Care to take care of the bugger?" I whispered.

Reilly grinned and nodded. “Battle Field Commission” he mouthed as he looked down his sniper scope and fired upon the target. He missed and knew that he had been an idiot. A Sniper Rifle was just that, not some close quarters weapon. He cursed his stupidity and picked up the Battle Rifle that was slung round his chest. Taking a little while longer to aim, lining up the shoot and then fired. Three bursts. Fired again. He would press the trigger and readjust his aim for however long it took to kill the attacking brute. Which, knowing how strong they where, could be some time.
