Hello peeples. With Infinites release it seems like a lot of interest is coming back. Which is excellent! But I would imagine a lot of members new and old may be interested in RPing on the ring itself. But for that to be a feasible event we would need to determine the time to set the rp. Or give people the information needed to pick certain time periods for there threads. I hope to provide the information and will happily discuss possible times as well

Zeta Halo history/important events:
- Information taken from this page just made condensed ( www.halopedia.org/Installation_07 )
* November 28, 2553 - Installation 07's location is discovered by Luther Mann after study of glyphs inside the shield world Sarcophagus.
* Early 2555 - ONI Establishes the Zeta Halo Project in an effort to contain, study, and decommission the ring. A team of 300 scientists and thousands of drones are sent first. They discover an ominous countdown to activation but are able to stop it with the help of a joint Human Sangheili force. Following this a military force is assigned to the ring to make sure no undesirables can sneak in and push buttons.
* 2558 - The military force has settled down to be only human with 3,416 humans present on the ring. 406 Scientist and the rest military.
* Late 2559 - Catherine Hasley decides that making a Cortana copy and putting it on Installation 07 is a great trap for Cortana. I'm sure theres a book reason why it was this ring. The goal is to put The Weapon there, make it lure Cortana there, and then delete Cortana and itself. Atriox finds out about this and arrives before the UNSC Infinity can arrive. He quickly wipes the military force out and establishes Anti Air batteries and other bases as he waits for his enemy to arrive. This is likely how the FoB's and other UNSC locations were taken over by the Banished.
The Infinity then arrives and is lost in 4 minutes, still doesn't make much sense to be considering the Infinities shields we've seen plow through enemy ships before but that's not important. During these four minutes the Weapon is still deployed and is set up to lure Cortana to it. Lasky sees that the ship is lost and orders and evacuation. This is how the UNSC get down to the ring under heavy AA fire with many Spartan 4's in addition. The Infinity is lost but I dont think destroyed since Atriox was on it and he then got down to the surface. On the surface he finds Cortana trapped there and has an argument with her. She did blow up Doisac after all. After awhile or arguing Cortana blows up a section of the ring to stop Atriox and presumably killing herself as well.
* Midish 2560 - Six months after the Infinity is lost John 117 is found adrift in space and brought back to fight. He then does the Halo Infinite storyline concluding with pretty much all of the Banished high command dead.

For RPs my suggestion would be during the six month gap between Infinity lost and John waking up. It just depends how badly you want it going for humans with how close you set it to John landing time. We know the Banished worked on capturing Humans to put them in a building to fight them to the death to train and seemed to be especially on the lookout for Spartan 4's to kill. So lots of room for exploration and stories which I'm happy to discuss.

I like the idea, but I just have a few things that I think we should address as a group, or maybe the staff can debate it for going forward. 

Character: In regards to our current characters normal rules of time and place should apply (can't be on Zeta and your home world at the same time). The main thing I want to express is we may want to have this section require approved characters situated uniquely in that section of the site. We may also want to rework the tier system for the site (or at least that section) to include the spartan fours and new banished ranks (at least I think they added some new ones).  

Playing as the banished: I know the issue has been brought up before, but we cannot play the covenant on Zeta halo, so would the Zeta RP be human specific, or can we cross into the banished territory?

Missions: I know player/NPC missions are always playable, but would there be site wide missions (hosted by the staff) hosted in this era of time since the site is currently playing through the aftermath of the schism? 

On site area: Would the staff be making a new section for this era of play or would this go under canon post war threads?

Character;
In regards to this that depends entirely on how 'serious' we intend Zeta Halo RPs to be. For example if they are just fun little experiments then I dont think the character rules need apply too much. But if its a more intense sub board/board then you are right. I'm fine with either so that is something we would need to decide upon. Also in regards to Banished rankings BetaW, Huka, and myself are currently working on a document that should help people who wish to make some Banished troopers. But having smaller scale character profiles sounds like a solid idea as the survival rate on Zeta Halo seems rather low.

Player as Banished;
Mentioned above but also an extra thing. While yes there wouldn't be a Covenant deployment there there could be an enclave of them. Say for example during Johns rampage across the ring a group of former Covenant soldiers try to take hold of a Forerunner building. That could be a little sub mission that Banished and UNSC characters and Covenant could all interact with.

Missions;
That would depend on how many people are interested in this but with our current active population I would be hesistant about trying to have a big mission in case one or two people stop posting and the whole thing stalls.

On Site area;
Depends on interest and activity but it would likely be a section inside of post war RP as Zeta Halo wasn't really a 'thing' unless you were Forerunner before the end of 2553

Id imagine thats something we would need to discuss as a community with maybe a vote or other kind of discussion. As they are a pretty big thing Post War Id be fine with allowing them in greater numbers than we've allowed before.

For me at least it helps seeing that a lot of them get rekt post war where the earlier spartans, sans III, tend to do the rekting instead.

Heya Trooper. The staff will discuss about this more as time goes on, but I'd like to answer your questions.

Character: Yep. I would pretty much like it if anyone interested in rping on Zeta Halo creates a new character and not use their usual characters for it...unless they're planning on having them die there. As Fac said above, this is where the staff and I will discuss about later on to make our final decision, or at least until they're finished with the Banished information. For now though, smaller profiles when making member-created missions will suffice enough. One of us will eventually add them (and the Spartan 4's into the tier system at a later date).

Playing as the Banished: I'm okay with an enclave of Covenant/former Covenant characters interacting with the Banished and/or Human characters.

Missions: Depends on site activity. If it keeps rising and sticks around for a good while, then a main mission will eventually be created by the staff.

On site area: Like Fac mentioned, it really depends on site activity. For now though, they can fall under post-war threads. If there's more interest involved, then a sub-board will be made.

So I was going to make another thread but decided that would be silly as this does the same thing so;

People seem to be interested in Zeta Halo Rp. I was going to make a sign up thread but think we need a few more things hashed out before we do that. It was going to be a test RP kind of thing with newly made quick characters to explore it as an option.

So - Spartan 4's. They are a big thing post war and especially at Zeta Halo as a bunch were on the Infinity. As such there would be some allowed in the thread. But how would we balance the possibility that everyone wants to be one? Let them? Only have a few slots and first come or raffle it? It seems to be a question on a lot of minds. This will tie into a bigger discussion post war of how many 4's we allow but lets start simple and just talk about them here for this test thread first.
