It was always an unsettling feeling stepping into an area where in your lifetime would have meant certain death. Even more so when you were with those you cared about. But they had already made it past the screening and despite the cameras and guards he could tell were still watching them. But this was a new world. A world he wanted his kig kids to grow up in. And doing something like this really helped to convince him that it may really be possible. Who knew, maybe his example would encourage others to put aside their fears and hates.

Maybe.

Zahl for once seemed on board with this idea as she held Yul along over the main door threshhold. Both young T'vaoan chicks as happy as could be with all this new environment to explore. And they both happily pointed at the large UNSC eagle on the wall and cheeped. "Lookey! Birdy!" Causing both parents to chortle before Nek hurked and looked to the side to try and stifle a cough. Still not over that. Quickly taking a beakfull of tea as he nodded and the Kig family moved toward the main observation section of the station. It wasn't a purpose built playpen or anything but it was a nice open space with tabels and Nek was sure it would work. It also had a fantastic view of the Human homeworld and it was nice to see it for real besides just pictures. Setting his thermos and the bag of food he had brought on the table as Zahl took the kids around to look at more of what could be seen from here. You wouldn't suspect she was a decorated pirate raider with how she was treating those kids. Nek just smiling as he sat back and pulled out his PP.

He arrived yesterday night to meet someone here before his meetup with Nek Dal, who was bringing his family here in hopes to settle down. The someone he met was a friend of Sophia, his love of his life who he thought was killed after all of these years. She had to flee from UNSC space while he was recovering from his injuries years ago. Her friend brought their young son planet-side, as Sophia was extremely cautious showing herself in UNSC space, but wanted their son - who she named after Moretti's middle name, Nicoli, but called himself Mouse and wanted everyone else to call him Mouse instead of his given name. He thought it was cute, and the kid was very happy to see him, despite being somewhat shy. Sophia's young friend, a T'Vaoan who also worked for her in the Outer Colonies, was named Kin Tal. The young alien, dressed in a mixture of human and Kig-Yar clothing - mostly human - told him what Sophia thought he needed to know, and hanged around with the two humans while Mouse visited his father.

"When it's safe for her and you're no longer working for ONI, Mike, you'll be able to see her again," Kin told him yesterday. For the most part, Moretti loved what he did. He loved being a field officer for ONI, but if he had to choose, there was no contest. He'd pick Sophia any day. Alas, he was still in active duty and the only way he was able to be here was shore leave. He'd have to wait until he was no longer in active duty before he was able to see her, face-to-face, again. Unless that changes...as in...SHTF.

He glanced down at the data-pad on his wrist, glancing at the time before sending a quick message to Nek Dal. 

<<"Nek, Mike here. Just woke up after an interesting night here. I'll be heading over to where you're are with my son, Nicoli (he likes to be called 'Mouse' though), and a friend. I'll be there in a few minutes. Don't worry, I know where you're at."

Setting the modern life saver of the PP on the table next to him as he waited for a response Nek chuckled to himself. He could only imagine how hard it was to keep track of trade and shipping back on Eayn before electronics came to be common place. The amount of scroll and paperwork that must have taken. So many different port officers to check every ship coming in and out as well as their cargo. And then the likely old Kig who would be in an officer just full of reports. But that oldun - ohhh that old one. They would have been doing it their whole life and would have it all organized perfectly. Worth double or even triple their weight in Pins (Making up old Kig currency yay) and even the Commodores wouldn't ever dare displeasing them. Just hoping that they trained a replacement as the years rolled out. But now?

Picking up the device again Nek flicked over a few screens before he tilted it sideways to open up a spreadsheet. All of his still small time fleets vessels; their captains, crew numbers, cargo, current location, and destinations. All updated regularly for him to check. Nek was sure in the future there would be even more impressive ways to get the gears of commerce moving but compared to the past? Aecor he was lucky. Before his wonderful spreadsheet was overlayed with a message. Bright alien eyes skimming back and fourth before he tilted his head and worked on a reply.

<<'Mouse? As in the small furred squeak animal that has become a popular snack item for Kig-Yar? How odd. But I will refrain from mentioning that to the hatchling. We will await the arrival of your party.'>>

Slipping it back into his pocket he got off the seat to head over to his wife and children - to help solve their confusion about why the station had such a bit tower on it. Nek starting to explain that it was a really big canon. Both Zahl and himself being in agreement that they were very glad they had never seen one that size be fired.
