So, despite me being 100% more AAAAAAAAAA and hype when I saw the Stalker 2 trailer the Halo Infinite gameplay thingy was also in the reveal today. So I thought it would be good to have a place to discuss it.
If you have not seen it;
Important things I personally noticed I know I may have missed stuff:
Halo Infinite, at least the mission showed, takes place on the 28th of May 2560. Apparently 167 days after 'we lost'
For context. Halo 5's last campaign mission takes place on October 28th 2558. Halo Wars 2 final mission takes place roughly around May 2559. This places the day (I assume) Humanity lost as
around the 11th of December 2559. Which means there is roughly seven months where Humanity apparently fought the Guardians (ew) and then lost. Since then going off trailer info blerb at the end and I agree with Kill on his guess during those seven months the Infinity was likely destroyed or hidden somewhere and apparently Humanity tried to fight Cortanas metal friends and lost.
This puts the Humans on the backfoot against the galaxy. Again. I'm ugh at this as they just seem to be resetting but either way.
The Banished seemed to be hunting down Humans. They have a Ring world of some kind and are working toward something called an Auditorium. The Banished are allied with something called 'The harbinger' which if that is a Cortana big friend seems very counter to what the Banished and Aatriox were about with their dislike of the overbearing Covenant but whatever I guess we'll find out. To Honor the 'will' off Aatriox. So maybe hes dead too? Freaking hope not. Brute spokesperson has some good dental work. And thats about all the plot I can gather from what I saw. So lets look at new weapons and stuff.
The game also seems to be open world now. yay or boo depending on your own preference.
We have a new Brute Plasma(?) weapon called a Ravager. Which is a burst, maybe, small explosive launcher that shots little explosive things.
Jackals are in the Banished now, yay. And they look very similar to how they did in Halo 2ish from the glimpses I could see.
The magnum looks very much likes its striped down Halo 2 version but still seems gameplay wise the same. Called the MK50 Sidekick now.
New Human Gun, a VK78 Commando. That under its pickup icon is listed as 'tactical rifle/kinetic/auto' it seems to be a 20 shot DMR type thing. It seems to be able to headshot or at least does extra damage on a headshot.
Brutes use their own version of drop pods too. And there is some new deployable equipment in the form of a drop wall. Its basically a bubble shield that is only in front. But you can shoot through it from the back. Sounds annoying in multiplayer.
Chief has a grapple hook now. I guess its insanely strong to swing around 1000+ pounds and not only that but winch it upwards. You can use it to grab objects and grab onto people too. I wonder if you can pull the lighter enemies toward you?
Pulse Carbine, burst fire plasma repeater looking thing.
Mangler, Brute HEAVY looking pistol. Seems to be magnum like in its performance.
CQS48 Bulldog, UNSC drum fed pump action shotgun. No idea why the Banished have some many Humans weapons lying around. Maybe the Brutes or Kigs like them?
Thats all I spotted, guess we'll see what the future holds.
