(Little bit of info for peeps; A general layout for an auction house is four rooms. The Lobby, where people can meet and socalize if they don't wish to be in the other rooms. The Auction Room, the one you have probably seen in movies where people sit in chairs with numbers and hold them up when they wish to bid. Also in this room would be phones (and video camera so people could bid by phone from another location). The Auction room can also be used to socialize before the auction starts. Then there is the Preview Hall, where before the auction takes place anyone who has a number (as in entered into the auction) can look and generally handle any of the items that are going to be in the auction. It is here people examine and decide if they wish to bid on the items they are interested in - which they saw earlier from the catalog. And finally the 'Vault' where all the items are held before they are moved to the Preview Hall for viewing and then the Auction room for bidding. They are also shipped out from here when the auction is finished. There are often more items in these rooms than are being currently bid on but those are still being catalogued or in storage for future auctions.)
If you wish to see most of this info in video form link and also a sneaky auction trick when Ian is bidding.

Nek Dal - T'vaoan Merchant (Number 006)
Lobby, skimming over the catalogue.
Not generally my forte but shiiiny.
Unlike what several of the Kigs who had recognized him so far today had assumed Nek wasn't there to sell or hadn't organized all this. While its true he was a, wealthy, merchant these days he dealt in more utilitarian items. Stuff you needed to set up a home and defend it. Those weren't often sold at an auction more of a wholesale location. No the stuff, especially some of the custom Ghosts that he was currently looking over, was collector grade items. Valuable Human, Sangheili, Kig-Yar, Jiralhanae, Unggoy, and even some Yanme'e items that were rare or unique in one way or another. Stuff you couldn't order from a shipping company.
The House was pretty full with at least one representative of each species in eyeshot of Nek now socalizing or looking over the catalogue to make sure they knew what they were looking for. Even more were in the Auction room staking out the best seats and more in the Preview Hall getting a better look at the handmade or exotic handmade stuff they would like to own. The employees of the House, easily picked out because of their bright green shirts, were mainly Humans and Kigs but the Unggoy with the clipboard looked to be some kind of underboss.
Nek himself would be heading into the Hall soon to get a better look at the items for himself but currently was happy where he was in the lobby he flipped through the datapad pages and sipped occasionally on the tea he had sat next to him. Currently sat on a little platform connected to one of the six pillars holding up the room of this magnificent Auction House.
Kael Gel - Gel Commodore (Number 152)
Preview Hall, examining the goods.
I don't need it...
Those fancy Ghosts were what Kael was currently looking over in person as she gnawed on her middle fingerclaw. It wasn't something the clan needed. It was just a luxry item. Not something that would do much good for anyone really. But she wanted it. It was a moving art exhibit and it was exactly the kind of thing Atl would gush over. She had mostly everything else smoothed over with her family and Mama was happy with her leadership so far...but her youngest brother was still distant and Kael really wanted to have him back with the family. More than ever with Roh growing up she wanted him to have something creative to do. Boy deserved it after they had been through...
Tal gently pushing a younger Ibie'Shan aside as he tried to get to Kael, her only Commando still with her. "Not right now please Chick, Mistress Gel will have a time before the auction to talk." The youth looked a little crestfallen as he tried to look around Tal at the back of the legendary Kael before she pointed back and beckoned him forward. The youth blinking before Tal, and the other two guards, stepped aside as let him approach. The lads father quickly coming after and looking rather petrified but Tal just bobbed his head. "The Mistress likely wishes to ask him a question."
Which turned out to be correct as Kael patted the top of the blunt head as she hummed. Her very nicely embroidered waistcoat and clan Insignia rather obvious to anyone who glanced at her.
"Its pretty, isn't it?" She asked, pointing at the ghost.
"Ye! Pretty and shiny! Would make any mate very pleased. A lot of good vibes and also fun to drive." Kael just smiling as she nodded and handed over a small Gekz chip to the youth.
"That it is. That it is. Try to save that Chick - and one day you'll be able to bid at a place like this too." The youth had trouble to back up and bow his head at the same time but it just made it better to Kael as the father bowed as well.
"Thank you Mistress for the gift and advice. Good luck in the auction." Before they moved off into the general throng of people. It was decided then. She would wager on this. She was very sure Atl would see it as too...gaudy or whatever words he used these days but at least she was making an effort...and now it gave her an excuse to buy it!
Tesl Kewl - Kewl Commodore (No number, uh oh!)
Outside the venue, almost late.
Sinking Traffic!
"Tesl! The traffic will not move quicker due to your hand signals!" The single guard tried to calm down Tes as she ugggghed and slumped back in her seat. Anxiously looking at the time on her datapad again as the number just ticked up higher.
"I wont have any time to sinking socialize at this rate Ted! Socialize! You know how important that is for Commodores to do?! Its how we uhh….network? Yeah! Network! So we can make alliances and enemies and other fun stuff!" Arms crossing over her much simpler fancy attire compared to other females at the auction. The ruuthian grumping to herself as she tried to adjust it before giving up. Sitting up straighter to not to crease it as much. Holding her hands together and taking a deep breath before she nodded. "I'm ok. Good impressions, calm. Be a good symbol of Indutiae."
Ted letting out a breath as he nodded. "That's the spirit Mistress! I can see the building now." Which thankfully had a rather large carpark. But with all the good spots taken it was a far spot before they stopped. And Tes was already out of the car once it stopped. Leaping over a parked custom warthog onto the main sidewalk to the huge building.
"Come on Ted! No need to be more late they we already are we still need to register!"
The older Ruuthian just eye rolling as he jogged after her. At least she was eager. That would get he noticed and notice was what they needed now.
