Halo 4 and onward story or something different?

I dont think its a big secret that the direction Halo has gone recently with the spirit/soul robots and giant eagle Guardians has been a bit divisive to the Halo community. Some love the change some dont but its been a pretty big split. As such Llau and myself were discussing it on Discord and we were wondering what you all think;

If, hopefully in my eyes, we get some activity back here and continue the story lines and the like once we get to paste Halo 3 what do you all think we should do? Go with the 343 made story line of Sangheili civil war and Jiralhanae power struggles? With a side of good old fashioned Kiggle pirating on the side before BAHM giant shield worlds and the aforementioned soul robots?

Or

Go with something of the sites own making? Something we would hopefully discuss as a group and come to some agreements over as to what we think the post war would would be about?

If we do end up getting some activity back, what I would love to do is veer off into our own timeline after either Halo 2 or 3 (don't care which)'s ending.
I like the Sangheili civil war and the Jiralhanae power struggles, but not much else really, especially with how Halo 5 was.

I've always wondered what would have happened if the destroyed section of the ring still had flood on it, and impacted a colonized planet. Flood spreads across that whole planet and boom, you've got a horror game now. I dunno, maybe this is inspired by my recent addiction to Alien universe games.

I think a split after '3' would be ideal. With the fractured covenant pitting its remnants against the likes of the Banished (Shout out to Betawolf) and the UNSC dealing with the atrocities and events that came after the war. Maybe have the site create the events leading up to Infinite.

I think that would have been a much better story and let them be a lot more down to earth and let us see a galaxy trying to rebuild. As well as those who want to watch it burn or just grab all they can. But instead they just went straight from one galaxy spanning threat to another which somewhat wrote them into a corner. Which is a shame as the books that were set between halo 3 and 4 (Kilo-Five) were some of my favorites they've written of everyone trying to come to terms with the new world they now had in front of them.

I think that the events of Halo 4 could be considered (maybe even were, been a long time lol) local events, and shouldn't really affect anyone other than the Master Chief and those that were there on the Infinity and such. I don't think we would have to scratch it to still have everything else we'd like.
