Diamond (at the) Bottom (of a) Coal Mine
UNSC Outer Colonies
Rough Material Mining Planet Coupolain 2
And the Big Pit National Mine
-------------
Greetings Warriors of the Covenant! You did very well to wipe out the pitiful resistance in the city on this disgusting planet and now the final push is needed! The worthless Humans have retreated back to their hole in the ground and await the cleansing fire! You must brave their traps and unholy nature to deliver it to them personally!
And of course retrieve the Holy Artifacts hidden in their mine. For the glory of the Gods!
------------
Welcome all you Covie PC/Human NPC Players to your version of the Iowa Invasion, the Humans are trapped in that Mine (as far as you all know) and hold not only several caches of Forerunner artifacts but also two files of your fellows inside it. Somewhere. You gota get some of those things out and some of them are way less important - I trust you can work out which is which.
Please sign up your PC/NPC here plz;

Helpful map for you all, done by me from a basic mine outline. Once people get deeper I will reveal the details of each tunnel. When all the Covenant start this is the ONLY information that is known to all of us.
The city that the Humans were initially at has been cleared and the remaining Humans ran to the mine dragging the artifacts and managing to grab two full files (a lance) along with them too. The Covenant troops would have noticed by now that these Humans are not the normal green and black Imps they often fight. These ones are instead wearing blue, or with orange vests, or green but way less armor.
That's right you lovely Alien fucks you get to fight a bunch of Army, Police, and Miner Humans today! I'm sure that will make it SUPER easy for everyone in super tight confines where they have had time to set up traps and other fun surprises. Always remember the ceilings are low. Sangheili and especially Jiralhanae will have to hunch down so their backs down grind against the ceiling and the top of Tall Kigs spines and feathers will brush the ceiling.
The Covenant have control over the top of the mine and also control over the main elevator to bring themselves down and up when successful. Its a good idea to defend this large platform as it seems to be the only way up from you entering. The elevator platform is 20x20 feet and has a load capacity of 40 tons, so soldiers will be fine. Cursory glances down the big hole in the earth will just show a huge black hole into the earth as a lot of the light stuck in the rock don't work anymore.
There was a distress call called out from the city before most of it was melted down to ruins but the Covenant and Humans are unsure if it was received by anyone. So best not to just wait it out. Besides the Prophets want those Artifacts yesterday so git to it!
Covenant players (PCs)
Your job is to get down into that mine and clear out the trash. Recover the stolen Artifacts and rescue your fallen warriors. And then get out. Also don't die.
Human players (NPCs)
You are stuck boys. But don't worry we got quite the surprise ready for these Fuckers once they get down here. This mine will be full of Alien corpses soon. And the Corps will surely be here soon and we'll be heroes! Heroes of the War!

Big stupid hole in the ground
What have they prepared...
Standing near the thankfully mostly quiet engine that controlled the big elevator Kael slowly traced her finger down the shaft on the map before taking rough measurements with claw lengths to work out the distance to the left and right of what she would imagine would be the first stop for the troops. She stood with her helmet under her left arm as many of the Lance leaders were waiting for her orders. Most of them were still pumped up from the city battle they had had earlier but this was them walking into a easy to trap and hold area. They needed to take this more slowly.
Nodding to Tal as he moved the map back up to the wall so everyone else could see it Kael flicked out her right hand blade to point. It was just like this old stories of Sea Captains pointing with their sword at crudely drawn maps of island fortresses to take. It made Kael smile before she got back to business. "Right, we have taken the city, handily I might add. But that was just the set up." Kind of rude to the few that did die but eh. "And this is the real nest of theirs." She traced the blunt of her blade around Tunnel 1. "There could be anything in here - turrets, barricades, they have all this space to work with. Probably not explosives though as they don't want to kill themselves for nothing." Moving her blade back and fourth along the right side of Tunnel 1. "And this is just their first wall. They may even try to reason with us. Try to trade our captured soldiers or artifacts for their own lives." She looked back at the mainly Sangheili filled room. "I'm sure you all know how to respond to that."
Moving to the other side of the map she slid the blade down toward Tunnel 2, before snapping it back up. "You thought I was going to forget this little pocket here weren't you?" Circling the little alcove off to the left side of Tunnel 1. "Who wants to guess what they can put here to try and kill us? Come on, team effort you all. No idea is too stupid for what these Humans could scheme up. We'll go over the actual plan once we go over the obstacles they can put in our way."

Mine Elevator - wave 1
Gods protect me...
The platform did not feel very sturdy. Like it would fall down at any moment. But that was a lie wasn't it? That was just his nerves filling his mind full of the terrors of the dark. That unholy Human infested dark down there. Judging from the other soldiers on this platform...the first wave. He wasn't the only one feeling the worry.
This was far more than a building to clear. You could see exits and entrances from there. Here they were going in blind. They had been shown the map but had no idea how many Humans would be down here and what they would run into. The platform was mostly filled with Kig-Yar and Unggoy and the sides of it were getting Deployable Covers set up on them. They would provide defenses for them. But if the blackness of this mine was as dark as he feared it would also pretty much blind them to what was going on. And while protection was good it would also prevent them from firing back.
Not that he would do much firing anyway with two generators on his arms. They were likely just going to be the scout force. See what was there before pulled up again to be properly supplied to take out the Humans. This was going to be a long hard fought take over.
Cad tapping his scarf as he and the other troops suited up. Praying pretty hard for safety in this terrible situation as he and the other soldiers suited up and waited for the plan.

Come and get buried, and never unearthed, you fucks.
They may have been trapped down here. But soon the Covenant would be locked down here with them. Into their own wheel house. And those Covenant would soon be unable to proceded from the amount of their own bodies blocking the way. The Boss had told the groups to not kill the few Aliens they already had for some reason. But once all their friends were killed they would all be allowed to slowly torture them to death. Boss had said so. So for now it was allowed.
He was no Marine or soldier but he was full of rage and had a gun. He would do fine when those fucks finally got down here for quite the nasty surprise.
(Jackobs posts when they happen will be short and vague until the Covenant reach so you all don't get sneaky Metagame knowledge of what's deeper in the mine.)
(Hope you all like it and remember there is an OOC thread for questions and the like. <3)
