Velara activated the recording with nervous haste. Her face was worrisome, and she looked completely exhausted. Without hesitation, she began to speak rather fast.
"November 4th, 2552: I don't even know where to begin to start. Everything's happening so fast, it's impossible to measure how much time we have. Right, I think it's the A.I. I'll start with. After I mentioned it being unable to communicate with us in its harmonic language, it began cycling through a plethora of languages within its database in an attempt to communicate with us. Once it started speaking English, we were all surprised, and so was it apparently. From what we can gather, it has encountered Humans before, and was not expecting us to be here. But how could it have encountered Humans? Are we not the first ones to arrive here?"
She stared at the table her camera resided on, pondering what she'd say next.
"We learned a wealth of information from it. This place wasn't built by Forerunners. Rather, it was built by a race of ancient aliens called "Erai". When I asked what had happened to them, it said they travelled through something called the "Gateway". It was by this time we were interrupted, as we were informed that the detainee had escaped. We previously had set up cameras around the place, and we caught him sitting in front of a fairly damaged but sealed door. It looked like he was praying to it. Worshipping, even. Creepy as all hell. We sent some men to detain him once more, and the A.I. warned us not to go beyond that door. When we questioned the detainee, we barely got anything out of him other than frightened whimpers and random mumbling. I honestly couldn't blame him. My headaches have been nearing the breaking point. It's like a white hot pain searing through your skull. One of the worse things I've ever experienced."
Placing a hand on her temple, she sighed.
"We've decided to hold off further exploration until further notice. We're going to thoroughly question this A.I. and learn everything we can. In the meantime, it's not safe to explore without having an understanding of this place. Something is most definitely wrong here. I have a gut feeling. Blaire Velara, signing off."
