Private First Class Jason Bowers & Gunnery Sergeant Brendan Bowers
United Nations Marine Corps Marines: Task Force 77 & 120th MEU
21st of May, 2541, 8:00pm
New Alexandria, Reach
"This seems fitting don't you think?" Brendan said, slugging Jason on the shoulder and stopping outside of a local bar which was favoured by the UNSC Marines based around New Alexandria and was known as a marine bar. It was called the Endhouse.
Jason stopped and shoved his hands into the pockets of his dress blues pants. He looked up at the entrance of the Endhouse which seemed rather busy, busy enough for them to have a bouncer outside of the pub itself. He was probably there only to stop people from entering the pub who were 'too' drunk. And would most likely not interfere with anything that happened inside. Jason lifted his head and squinted his eye's as he peered at the illuminated neon sign which labelled the bar as the Endhouse. He then rolled his head around on his neck and looked over to his brother, Brendan. Who was also wearing his dress blues. The only difference between the pair was that his brother had gold Gunnery Sergeant chevrons stitched to his shoulders a bandolier over his shoulder and a tonne of medals and ribbons. Jason simply wore his Private First Class gold chevrons and an infantry badge.
"A marine bar? How much more fitting could you get?" Jason said sarcastically.
"C'mon, don't be a little baby." Brendan said, slugging his brother a second time before walking up to the bouncer who immediately stepped out of the pairs way. Which was funny because he instantly lifted his hand up and shoved back a man in civilian dress. Before telling him where he can stick something.
"Smell that?" Brendan said taking in a deep breath before letting it out.
"Testosterone and and too much liquor?" Jason replied.
"Smells like home..." Brendan said before laughing at his brothers comment. The pair made a bee-line through the utterly packed front half of the bar and found a spot at the corner of the bar itself. Brendan raised an arm for the barman's attention but the man utterly ignored the two marines and instead made for the opposite end of the bar to serve a group of ladies flaunting their assets. However there was one particular lady which caught Brendan's eye.
"Woah dude!" Brendan grabbed his brothers head by the jaw and forced him to look at one of the five women at the other end of the bar. This action caused Jason to adopt a rather dumb-found expression as his jaw hung open due to his brothers grip. One of the women spotted this and gestured their way to the other four ladies. All of them turned to look at the man and let out soft giggles before returning to whatever conversations they were having. However during this series of events Jason saw the one woman Brendan was referring too.
"Man get off me!" Jason said as he flailed his arms to get his brother off him before straightening out his uniform.
"Go talk to her man." Brendan said, prodding his brother in the side. Before Jason could respond the bar tender made his way over.
"Get you boys something?"
"Yeah two Swan Draft's." A classic beer of Australian decent.
The bartender nodded went off to fetch the beers before returning to Jason and Brendan with the tops popped off. Jason took his and Brendan took the other before paying the man. As Brendan did this Jason took a long pull from his beverage whilst looking sidelong at the woman Brendan pointed to her. One of the woman's friend spotted this action and gestured for the other to look. The pair of them peeked over and smiled at Jason who smiled back, still drinking his beer. By doing this he accidentally spilt some on himself, panicking he set the beer down on the counter and begun rubbing at his uniform. Quickly leaning forward over the counter to snatch a table cloth and wipe at his uniform. Meanwhile his brother looked at him with an expression of amazement and the two women at the opposite end of the bar laughed.
"If you don't go and talk to that fine ass girl over there... I bloody will mate?" Brendan said before beginning to make his move.
"Wait..." Jason said, stopping his brother before looking over to the woman the pair were looking at. She spotted this and gave Jason a cute smile, but Jason froze.
"Your loss man." Brendan said before making a bee-line in the crowed to the woman.
Once he made it over Jason nervously grabbed his beer and began taking quick sips of it. He watched as the pair talked laughed and occasionally pointed at Jason and laughed some more. Jason's ears begun to get read and before he knew it the woman was writing something down on a serviette and giving it to his brother. Jason clenched his fist and took some more quick sips of his beer before sighing and relinquishing his grip as well as lowering his head. He lost the chance and it would eat at him for the rest of the night until he was drunk and then hungover the next morning. He looked back up and watched as the pair laughed some more and hugged before Brendan took the serviette and made his way back. What he didn't know that entire time was that Brendan was talking up his younger brother and getting the woman's number for him. Jason waited for his brother to return before socking him lightly in the shoulder.
"Good job... I'm impressed."
"Me too... I thought for sure she'd choose someone much more handsome than you like... Myself." Brendan said before leaning back and grinning.
"Wait... What.." Jason said in confusion, looking at his brother before back at the woman, who had vanished into the crowed with her friends, he then looked back to his brother who at this moment tossed the serviette into his face. Jason panicked and scrambled to catch it as it dropped onto his uniform. He gripped it and read the note: 'Kara 0242 663 234' There was also a red lipstick mark in the form of a kiss. As Jason finished reading he was startled at a soft grasp at his right tricep. He turned around and was greeted with the view of the woman who was now identified as Kara, flanked by her four friends who smiled and giggled in the background before one of them spoke up and said.
"My, my... He is a cutie."
Jason's cheeks went warm and all he could think to do was tip his hat. "Ladies." He said nervously.
"You call me sometime soldier." Kara said before leaning forward and giving Jason a kiss on the cheek.
Jason froze and the five ladies made their way at exiting the bar with giggles and smiles. Jason eventually got over his temporary state of petrification and turned to look at his brother with rosy red cheeks.
"Dude..." Jason said.
"Don't say I never did nothing for ya." Brendan replied before pulling his brother closer into the bar and ordering the pair two more drinks.
Jason meanwhile looked at the serviette and smiled brightly, reading her name over and over again as well as her number to memorise it.
