Faction & Division: Indepedant Mercenary
Rank: Freelancer
Name: Rha'na 'Soran
Race: Sangheili
Age: 39
Height: 7'8
Weight: 300 lbs
Appearance:
Physical Profile:
Hailing from a remote region of Sangheilios where a harsh desert meets the sea, her skin is a deep azure flecked with large ebony spots across her back and scalp to better protect from the suns that beat down constantly onto the planet's surface. Rha'na is a lightly framed individual with toned muscle in comparison to othrs of her kind. The female Sangheili's slender body affords her greater dexterity possessed by the more nimble warriors of her kind. Many in the past have underestimated Rha'na for her smaller stature. But the experienced eye would know that her physique belies her true inhuman strength common among even the female Sangheili. Rha'na's vibrant hazel eyes seem to come alight with a burning ring of amber around the inner eye. Upon the left side of her face is a large marking in the shape of a crimson crescent moon outlined in white ink. A mark gifted to warriors who proved themselves in a trial by combat and who have been recognized by the noble house which she served in her youth.
Equipment:
Armaments:
Type 50 Particle Beam Rifle
Type 54D Plasma Pistol
Stun Baton
Curveblade
Strengths:
- Rha'na is an even tempered combatant who's confidence in her abilities shows in the way the female carries herself. Known for brash nature she is often bold and quick to act with split second decision making and tactful thinking. Though she had always mindful of her mentor's lessons of integrity and carrying oneself with honor, but when it comes to a survival situation she may easily repress these sentiments rather than allow them to get in the way of instinct. It is safe to say that she is not afraid to step on toes or meet a confrontation head on if the circumstances require it. Though she is not so short sighted as to never exercise restraint. Showing respect or courtesy where it is needed to those of higher standing is not lost on her. But with the fire in her heart that drives her to persevere through whatever obstacles may come her. Even though Rha'na is willing to withhold sentiments like honor to gain an advantage she is often a Sangheili of word to keep a contract. At least until it no longer suits her...
- Rha'na is often opportunistic and crafty on the job when conventional strategy falls short. With her cunning wit she seeks to keep most enemies at bay by utilizing a number of ranged weaponry and tricks to evade detection or harm. The wizened female holds a preference for tactical maneuvers that allow to catch her adversaries unawares to gain the upper hand otherwise. Rha'na is a veteran of distanced combat using arms that require precision and control. Not that she can't hold her own in melee or otherwise closer ranged engagements. Even if she does lack a measure of brute strength she is still capable enough to overpower most lesser creatures. Her cunning and speed alone are dangerous enough most situations. Combined with her reckless initiative and perseverance Rha'na is not one who is easily dissuaded or intimidated.
Weaknesses:
- Time and experience has taken its toll to erase most of Rha'na's former trepidation when in the face of a dangerous situation. She has become rather callous about the risks she often takes to see a task completed and still is short tempered. Sometimes acting upon impulse rather than sense she has a tendency to get flustered when under a sizable amount of stress. Mild irritability is often a symptom as her nerves begin to wear thinner, and thinner. Though it is not particularly a hindrance, but it still can reflect poorly on her character. Her self restraint quickly begins to loosen, the rising anger naturally kills cunning, and Rha'na has a tendency to act aggressively and raise her voice toward source of her frustrations. It takes a fair bit to get the Sangheili wound up and even more until she begins to cool so she may regain her wits fully.
- In the years following her service in the Covenant military and the conflicts up to the end of the Great War Rha'na has always held a healthy dose of fear or respect for things or events of the future that seemed uncertain. These days, however, she finds it particularly difficult to ever truly relax for even the slightest moment. Usually experiencing restlessness or having a constant sense of paranoia. Brooding is a common thing she does to cope with her stress among other things. In these times she shows signs of apathy and cynicism more so than usual in this depressed state.
Biography:
Rha'na 'Saronee had once been a soldier in the Covenant Empire under the command of her older brother So'dri Soran. Rana had often trained vigorously even before attending a proper academy as she had aspired to become a warrior from a young age much like her brother who often inspired her as they grew up together. To walk the warrior's path was something she aspired to do. Although others of her home on Sangheilios saw that it was not the proper place for a female of the servant class to participate in war on the front lines. However, through training and service to the master of Keep her diligence had been rewarded with an opportunity to join a group of young Sangheili to attend a War College at the heart of the state. From then on Rha'na saw to do whatever was required of her to continue on the path ahead of her to honor the memory of her late mentor and uncle who had trained her privately, but had passed away shortly before her deployment.
Although in the early years in the military the intrepid young Sangheili did not have the opportunity to realize true glory in a full on battle against their enemies through the nature of her lance's duties. It had been an honor in itself to serve alongside her fellow warriors and brother So'dri. When not assigned to menial work she was a part of a team of scout infantry who's task was often to perform tactical reconnaissance in relaying information or providing support in battle in the field. Through this sort of work was not often to her liking she did learn many a valuable lesson from the experiences as well as patience and cunning. Though Rha'na often experienced feelings of trepidation at the mere possibility of partaking in large scale combat, though she would never let it show. All of her training and preparation could not prepare her for the first true battle she would have to fight for her very life and those of her brothers in arms.
The day the when the very Covenant Rha'na served was sundered by the betrayal of Jiralhanae and the Prophets in what became to be know as the Great Schism. That coupled with the catastrophic loss of the city of High Charity to the parasite known as the Flood struck a great blow against her in many ways. With her faith in the Prophets and the gods they spoke for was wounded, her devotions had been betrayed, the blood of those she served an even come to respect were cut down. Among the numbers that had fallen was her blood brother So'dri was slain by the brutes only later to have his corpse be consumed by the Parasite which she herself killed and burned before narrowly escaping with her life. In less than a week everything that she had devoted her life to had been destroyed and her ever determined spirit that allowed her to persevere was too broken.
Thus those events marked the beginning of a dark turn in Rha'na Soran's life. She became withdrawn and withdrawn. The pain of her grief in time became like a fire in her blood that burned hot. Whatever fears that once gripped her when she was still young were burned away and was replaced with hare and reckless abandon. By the end of the Great the once hopeful, reserved scout had become like a fierce predator with a thirst for the blood of her enemies as she hunted them down. Even in the years following the dissolution of the Covenant and the rise of Jul 'Mdama and the civil war that would consume her home of Sangheilios she had turned away from. Only once she had realized what she had become Rha'na had been sullying the memory of her uncle and brother using her skills for slaughter rather than upholding the oaths she'd taken to protect and serve. Having had her fill of bloodshed Rha'na Soran cast off everything that tied her to her home and family.
After that she came into a life of wandering the galaxy while trying to put other conflicts behind her. She became a spacer looking for a new reason to live and a means to survive in an ever changing galaxy. Never settling in one place for to long if she could manage Ra'na would become restless living in poor conditions. The Sangheili eventually found work as a mercenary and a gun for hire. Whether it had been menial work or the occasional contract that required taking the life of some scum, it didn't matter. Rha'na Soran had found something she do to keep herself busy even if it sometimes meant doing something most found unpleasant. Turned out it was something she was good at as well and the pay was decent enough. Never would she return to a life of begging for her supper or fighting if it didn't come at the right price.
