Captain Jason Bowers 120th MEU // 12th Reconnaissance Company // Call Sign: Viper Actual LZ Laketown, Fanning out Esperanza II, Panis Eterni System, 2551
"Ten seconds!"
Bowers heard the crew chief of the Pelican he was riding down to the surface, scream over the commotion his marines were making and also the extremely loud noise of the engines slowing the Pelican down. Bowers lowered his head and lost himself in his thoughts. He thought about his child. Amelia, and her long dirty blonde hair that he'd tie into lousy pig tails. He'd think of her cute little laugh and the way he made her push milk out her noise by tickling her so much. He though about his wife, who he was slowly loosing due to rumours of him and a Lieutenant in his Company. He thought about how much he loved her and wanted to show that to her. He did not know however that she would be participating in the current campaign on Esperanza II. Bowers snapped back to reality when he saw one of his Sergeants yelling in his face.
"Let's go Sir!" The man yelled before piling out of the Pelican along with most of Second Platoon. Jason looked around and half of the Pelican had already piled out and begun scattering all over the open square trying to find cover by nearby trash cans and park benches but there was almost nothing. Even though there was currently no combat to be seen it didn't hurt to take a knee behind something solid.
Jason smashed his hand against the harness release of his crash-seat belt and stood up letting it slide out from around him as he moved. He gripped the pistol grip of his MA5C which was strapped to his chest and then hauled ass out of the Pelican. He was the last one out and the Pelican took off shortly after he jumped out. He looked to the sky and watched as that Pelican and another like it took to the sky's once more. One of the tail gunners of a Pelican begun to shoot out to the east of town before closing the hatch. Jason looked back down and then around the empty square. So far it was just him, all of Second Platoon and, his Company Sergeant and remnants of Echo Company on the ground. Jason looked around, surely the CO of Echo had to be on the ground. Jason ran over to his CFS and tapped her on the shoulder.
"Pearson, huddle second Platoon at the far east side of the square, I'll meet you's there." Jason looked around the square, using his HUD to identify nearby marines. As most of Echo companies marines were sheltered in buildings by now he couldn't see much. Though due to being a CO at a company level his HUD was modified and had much of a tactical use in combat than a traditional enlistee's HUD. He was capable of zeroing on Captain Sorelson's location in a nearby building to the South West.
---------------------------
Bowers had jogged over to the building and begun looking for the Captain. Indoors he considered removing his helmet but still within minutes of the first boots on the ground he decided better of it. Walking at a brisk pace he made his way to the second floor where he stumbled upon the ageing Captain. He stood at afar and admired the man for a moment. He wasn't sure if the Captain would remember but Bowers served briefly under him as a squad leader when the majority of the 120th MEU was known as the Seventh Marines. Bowers had been with the Seventh Marines since their formation and was actually a member of the infamous Task Force 77 back in the day too. Clearing his throat he stepped up to the Captain who was overlooking the main quad within the town which had now become the main LZ for Laketown.
"Captain Sorelson." Jason offered a firm, respectful but very quick combat salute. "Captain Bowers. Twelfth Recon, MEU Attached." He decided to introduce himself verbally despite the fact that Sorelson's HUD would have already identified Jason. Whether the man recognised him or the name or not, Jason stepped forth and began pointing out over the quad. "I've got a Platoon strength of boots on the ground... I just wanted to let you know in person I will be breaking my Company off from the main drop and heading further into Laketown, down East 9th street. I saw a Pelican gunner open fire in that direction and it is to my knowledge from studying the 'sand tables' that there is a hospital in that direction and possibly a police station, too. I'd place a fair wager there's still people trapped inside both of those buildings and I'd rather not delay on their evacuation." Jason would politely wait for whatever the Captain had to say before leaving to rejoin his men.
"You'll have access to my company COMM's I'll be on call if you need any support Sir." Some of the men around Jason looked at him awkwardly as a Captain called another Captain Sir. But it wasn't weird for Jason, he knew Mark's reputation very well and respected the man an extreme amount, and that's what it was to him, a title of respect.
---------------------------
Bowers regrouped with the men and women of second platoon who had taken cover in a coffee shop on the far East side of the LZ and quad. By this time first, third and even fourth Platoon had made it on the ground and had begun regrouping on to Jason. Opening the company wide COMM's Jason addressed his men.
"Viper actual to all call-signs... We're going to split off from the main force and head East into Laketown, it is to my knowledge that there is a hospital and police station in that general direction, I each Platoon spread over four blocks as we make our advance, that's a Platoon a street, Viper actual, out."
Jason watched as the men and women of Second platoon scampered to their feet and begun to follow their CO First Lieutenant Clair Hunt out of the Coffee shop and down East 8th Street. Jason pointed to First Sergeant Rachel Pearson and gestured for her to follow him before exiting the shop and attaching himself to Fourth Platoon lead by Second Lieutenant David Cooper. It was his first combat drop and Jason wanted to see how the man handled himself first hand. Cooper took Jason and his men down East 10th Street. As the Platoon exited the quad and made their way into the side street the Platoon spread out over fifty or so meters in a long staggered column with half the Platoon on the left hand sidewalk and the other half on the right hand sidewalk. They walked at an ordinary pace with each soldiers gun shouldered and on a constant swivel, looking for something to fire at. The general atmosphere of the street was somewhat eerie. It was quiet aside from the distant sound of automatic weapons and plasma fire. There were cars loitered all over the street, abandoned, some where even running still. There were also personal possessions littered all over the streets and side walks, anything from a mobile phone to a suitcase full of clothes. Forgotten.

[Inner Colonies: System: Panis Eterni Sector: Esperanza II: Current Location: Surface: Lake Town: Town Square/Quad: Community Center: Direction: Southwest: Second Floor: Captain Mark Seamus ‘Spade‘ Sorelson]
“Captain Sorelson,” he‘d heard a newcomer, Captain Jason Bowers of the 12th Reconnaissance Company call out before offering a firm and respectful quick salute. The younger marine had not only managed to make it to the surface, but had managed to make it to the second floor of the Community Center in relative safety and relatively unharmed. “Captain Bowers. Twelfth Recon, MEU Attached,”
“An honor, Captain,” Mark replied, not returning a salute as the area had been a contested region. “Don‘t salute on the field. We‘re in a hot-zone. The gesture is appreciated, though. I remember you. You’ve served with distinction, as you do now and as when you were a squad leader in both the Seventh Marines and Task Force Seventy-Seven. I’m impressed, deeply so that you’ve climbed through the ranks,”
“I’ve got a Platoon strength of boots on the ground…I just wanted to let you know in person I will be breaking my Company off from the main drop and heading further into Lake Town, down East 9th Street. I saw a Pelican gunner open fire in that direction and it is to my knowledge from studying the ’sand tables’ that there is a hospital in that direction and possibly a police station, too. I’d place a fair wager there’s still people trapped inside both of those buildings and I’d rather not delay on their evacuation,” Captain Jason Bowers explained his game plan.
“You’ve made your decision,” Mark said. “I can’t promise armor support, at least not yet. When we do have armor on the ground and if the path is cleared, I’ll send something your way or if you want to risk it on foot that’s up to you. We’ll provide what cover we can, but as far as air-cover goes the incoming pelicans might be the best bet for now. Who knows, if there’s anyone left alive in that police station you might be able to either commandeer or talk one of them into using one of their armored cars or armored vans to be of some use. As for the hospital, well…most hospitals tend to have medical airlift pelicans waiting on the rooftops. You might be able to use one of those, if one’s available,”
“You’ll have access to my Company’s COMMs. I’ll be on call if you need any support, Sir,” Jason replied followed by a few awkward looks from the surrounding marines that had decided to hole up on that floor. Mark knew exactly why, since one Captain to another rarely called each other ’Sir’ with the sole exception of respect. If he’d been the kind of marine to have allowed vanity to have gone to his head, the aging marine wouldn’t have been the type of officer Echo Company or for that matter anyone would have wanted. He’d watched as the younger Captain turned and headed off to rejoin his marines leaving Mark and the handful of marines on the second floor to resume work on their own improvised defenses to their own thoughts.

Staff Sergeant Maximilian "Drake" Fields120th MEU, ECo./2/15, 1PLT Sergeant Lake Town LZ, Esperanza II "Boi's, we gonna be serving lawful justice in a new kind of way." Drake never did like pelican rides, his early career as a marine was plagued with pelican deployments gone wrong, causing him to zone out on something he could keep his hands on. Which like always, was his MA5C rifle sitting in his lap. So, as everyone else chatted away on the pelican, Drake found himself slipping into his ritual of running through his rifle and pistol, gritting his teeth during the stratospheric transition, and finally slamming a mag in his rifle and piling out of the pelican beside the Captain. “Echo Actual to available Echo Call-signs ground-side. First order of business, find good cover with a good field of fire. I want this quad covered high and low,” buzzed into one ear, as the words physically entered the other. "1st Platoon, Staggered Curve covering the 7 to 10 o'clock of the blood tray, let's move." Drake quickly took up a position with the rest of 1st Platoon, a noticeable issue with the platoon's command structure, was that another rookie Lt. had been assigned to the unit. 2nd Lt. Felix Romero is what his IFF tag read though how it really should read is Fresh out of Officer Boot Green Horn with a Fancy College Education. Highcomm started pushing all the Greenhorn officers they've been rushing out on experienced platoon sergeants like Drake, forcing the platoon sergeants to take the role of CO at times. Drake approached the young officer on his left side, putting a hand on his shoulder and applying some pressure before saying, "Lt. Romero, I recommend taking a Knee or going prone unless you want a space chicken to take your head off. We don't know what kind of zone we are in yet." 24 is my guess, the kid can't be any older than that. "Thank you Sergeant Fields." A small chirp from a now annoyed greenhorn officer, which meant Drake was really gonna have to step it up today. “Echo Actual to all Echo Call-signs, expect for this position to be hit hard. We are to hold this ground,” a spilt second pause followed, Drake assumed he had missed the break that would of indicated the pause, “Dig in, boys and girls. We’re in this for the long haul. Use anything and everything you can. I want MG crews in the corners of those buildings or wherever you can get a good concealment, and I want marksmen where you have the best angles…”
The first thing to cross Drake's mind was the courthouse that was elevated on a large slab of concrete, with pillars providing solid cover and concealment for MG positions. "3rd Squad on me, We're setting up MG positions on the courthouse staircase, in-between the pillars. break" Drake paused to look around, spotting a gas station with an incorporated autoshop in one corner of the Hub as well. "2nd Squad, Secure that gas station, that extra fuel could be useful later on, and having access to that autoshop is gonna prove vital for maintaining our warthogs. 1st squad, follow the captain and dig in with him, make sure he doesn't go down." Drake looked over at the 2nd Lt., whose mouth was hanging wide open and his eyes beaming with confusion as Drake addressed him. "Listen kid, I've been fighting in this dam war for too long, just trust in my orders for right now as I get our men set up. You're still in charge, I'm just doing my job as XO and organizing the platoon, I recommend you stay by the Captain, he'll be able to help you direct the squad from the community center. I'm gonna be making sure we have MGs covering the Hub." A simple nod for the man was all he needed before running off with 3rd Squad. Captain Kelvin Duncan 120th MEU, 53rd Combat Engineers Company Attachment CO Laketown LZ, Esperanza II What the F*** kind of landing zone is this?
Duncan's eyes panned over the blood tray of the Albatross, taking in the change of attitude among his men. When the company lost about 1/3 of it's men on Protector, it shook the company hard, and affected them on every deployment since. Now Duncan's veterans didn't want to talk, and the new kids seemed scared out of their minds to be deploying into a hotzone. This is not how my company operates dammit, and I will not tolerate it any longer.
"30 Seconds until we reach the LZ, prepare for possible engagements at the LZ, AO is hot." Seeped into the room through a slightly static PA system, as Duncan unfastened his harness and rose to his feet catching the attention of the new blood. "Listen up marines, I understand many of you sitting here today, were part of the deployment on Protector," He paused for a second, as some men adverted their gaze, and others involuntarily cringed at the mere mention of the planet. "We lost good men that day, and I understand it still bothers many of you, as it does me. We cannot however let it stop us from bringing the living home alive, if we loose our conviction to fight, and our will to press on, Hawkins and the other's deaths will have been in vain. I'll admit, this speech is a few years late, but I had to through the same emotions you all felt as well, and it took me a long time to shake it off. We're Reapers though, We welcome our enemies into the realm of hell, that is our brothers in arms." "Bay opening in 5 seconds, prepare to pile out marines!" Cried out from the shadows of the Albatross, "You heard the pilot marines, weapons hot, and get your asses ready to move. We're dropping into a civilian area, so I want the MG and sharpshooter nests reinforced with whatever sandbags you can set up." The men rushed out of the Albatross as the bay door opened, the site of a park filled with all kinds of objects that prevented a mass landing area bombard Duncan's view. "What the fuck kind of Landing zone is this?" "Third Platoon, Clear the park of obstructions, we need an actual landing zone if we're gonna get our Aardvarks and tanks down here." Duncan finally switched off the company comm line as his men raced to positions to either fortify or clear them. "Guardian Actual, Reaper Actual, We've touched down and are moving to reinforce positions and clear out the LZ of obstructions, how copy?" Private First Class Joseph Sherman 120th MEU /12th Reconnaissance Company Attachment/ Sniper LZ Laketown Esperanza II Covering the advance Sherman didn't really say much during the pelican trip down, or well they were even on the ship. Lost in another day dream, the sniper just remained lost in thought until the violent shaking of the pelican shook him out of it. His focus shifted to his spotter sitting across from him. She was focused on her BR55, checking the chamber, making sure her optics were properly secured onto the rail. Most people saw a soldier handling a BR55, Sherman however, couldn't help but admit he had a slight thing for his spotter. "Hey Savannah how do you think this AO is gonna look?" A sigh escaped her lips as she looked up at him, "You zoned out again during briefing didn't you, the A.O. is a small urban town Sherman, pay attention next time instead of daydreaming will ya?" Sherman instantly noted that something was bugging his spotter, but decided to not pursue it at the moment. "Touchdown in 10 marines, Give them hell." The pilot called over the PA system, as the bay door opened up to reveal the LZ. "Let's go Savannah, we gotta find some good high ground." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sherman zero'd his scope out as he lied on top of the department store that overlooked the majority of the street that one of the Force Recon platoons moved down. "Shit Savannah, Captain Bowers is on our street, gotta keep our eyes open." "You got to not daydream Sherman." Sherman decided that now would be a better time to press the issue. "Something up Savannah, you're normally not this hostile during ops?" "Nothing's up Sherman, just pay attention alright." Sherman decided not to press the issue anymore, he didn't wanna get a fist to the face. "Viper Actual, Viper Five, I have eyes on your advance, out." ------ Pyrex-Catching a ride down with his Hawk in an Albatross to the LZ

[Inner Colonies: System: Panis Eterni Sector: Esperanza II: Current Location: Surface: Lake Town: Town Square/Quad: Community Center: Direction: Southwest: Second Floor: Captain Mark Seamus ‘Spade‘ Sorelson]
“Echo Actual to all Lake Town PD Call-signs, this net. If you are able and are receiving this transmission, make your way to the town quad…square or if you are unable hunker down and remain where you are. We will come get you. Say again, if you are able make your way to the town square or remain where you are. Break,” Mark relayed over the encrypted Lake Town PD frequency he’d been given in the briefing prior to the drop. He’d made several attempts to contact any surviving Lake Town PD officers for that matter, but his efforts had mostly been met with static or the echo of automatic weapons fire. At times, he‘d even heard the cries of the dying over the comms.
“Echo Actual to Guardian Actual, the main LZ is in the process of being secured and cleared. Echo, Twelfth Recon, and the Fifty-Third Combat Engineers are on the ground. Twelfth Recon has gone forward east of the Square to make contact with survivors. Echo Actual, out,” he said, having switched over to an encrypted frequency for the 120th MEU.
A young Second Lieutenant rushed out of the stairwell onto the second floor of the Community Center, and it hadn’t taken more than a moment for Mark to know the marine had been fresh from OCS when he’d heard the marine barking orders by the book at other marines stationed within the building to do one task or another. The aging Captain knew a marine wound that tightly could pose a risk to every marine around them, and while a novice marine hadn’t been a particularly bad thing where you teach them through experience what to expect a marine wound tightly that probably slept with the field manual tightly held to their chest had been the opposite. Checking the solidarity of the make-shift defenses surrounding his own position, Mark grabbed his rifle and approached the younger marine. The rubber soled combat boots squeaked a little on the speckled tiled floors marking the passage of the aging Captain, and while tile wouldn’t have been his first choice in a combat zone the choice reflected the more passive civilian nature the architect had intended to channel.
“You know, they would be able to work faster and see to their own breastworks if you let them,” Mark said having approached the younger marine whose back had been turned towards him.
“That’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it, but I’m the one with the bars around here…” Second Lieutenant Felix Romero began before turning on a heel to face the aging Captain and quickly stood at attention before delivering a salute.
“Stop that. Don’t salute an officer in the field. You know that,” Mark interrupted before changing to a tone of a mentor. “Listen. Relax, and give yourself a chance to breath. It’s not often we have non-recycled air. Another thing, Lieutenant Romero, give the marines a chance to do what they’ve been trained to do. There isn’t any need to be barking orders by the book to them, especially the new kids. Give them a chance to surprise you,”
“I’ll take that into advisement, Sir. If we can’t use the book, how can we expect the marines in this outfit to do what they’re told?” Felix asked, moving into a more relaxed stance.
“The field manual is one thing, and issuing orders by the book is another. Being in the field and having to improvise is quite another, and that’s a skill you’re going to experience very shortly I’d imagine. Out here, surgical corners on a bunk isn’t a necessity. When you’ve been slogging around in the mud and grit for days or even weeks on some god-forsaken gnat-infested mudball, you’ll look forward to clean sheets and a roof over your head to three warm squares a day. If you can take a warm shower, it’s a bonus,” Mark explained. “I know you’re fresh from OCS. Your gills are still wet. Listen to your marines. Let them do what they came here to do,”
“I’ll follow those orders…advice, Sir,” the younger Lieutenant replied when the single bronze bar on both epaulettes of the Lieutenant‘s uniform caught his attention.
“One more thing, remove those bars. Covenant snipers have a thing for taking out officers if they can find them, and you‘ve presented yourself as a target. In the field, never wear your rank where its visible,” Mark added.
“Aye, Sir,” the young Lieutenant said.
“Good. Now, why don‘t you go through the doors behind you and down the hall to see if the Corpsmen have set up a med-station in the basketball court,” Mark said watching the younger marine nod before removing the bars from his epaulettes. With the bars placed in a uniform pocket, the younger marine headed through the doors to check on the Corpsmen‘s progress.
“Corporal,” Mark said, managing to catch the attention of a younger marine that had passed by him. The young Corporal had been on his way back from the head, or rather the working restrooms within the Community Center and had come to a stop near the aging Captain.
“Yes, Sir?” the Corporal, a young man appearing to be in his early twenties asked. “What’s your name, son?” Mark asked, having been in the habit of knowing the names of every marine that had been in his command in the past and that had been currently under his command. His HUD identified the man including his first name, but Mark had been of the old guard and had wanted to have heard the man personally. “What, Sir?” the Corporal asked. “What’s your name, son? I like to know the names of my marines, and where they’re from,” Mark replied. “Luke, Sir. Corporal Luke Darvis, Sir,” the young man said, introducing himself. “It’s an honor, Luke,” Mark said. “It’s an honor, Sir,” Luke replied. “Luke, I have a little favor to ask. You can relax. It’s not one of life or death, and I won’t be putting you in danger either,” the aging Captain began. “What were you doing at the moment?” “I was…uh…coming back from using the head, Sir,” the Corporal replied. “I’m glad you at least washed your hands,” Mark said. “Are you a good runner, Luke?” “I played soccer in college, Sir,” Luke said. “You did some running though, right? I need you to track down Staff Sergeant Akiwara, and to have him report here. You can go about your duties then, and return to your squad mates,” Mark ordered, knowing Shinji had exhibited signs of nausea aboard the Pelican drop earlier and hadn’t been certain whether the meds the Senior Airman had given him had worked. “Is that all, Sir?” the Corporal asked, resting his right arm on the butt of his MA5C strapped to his ballistics chest plate. “It is. You’re to find the Staff Sergeant, and have him report here,” the Seattle-born Captain reiterated. “Aye, Sir,” the Corporal said, not even bothering with a salute given what he’d been told in basic about not saluting an officer or giving a salute period in the field especially in a hot zone. Before long, Mark had watched the young Corporal head downstairs and out of the Community Center to find the Staff Sergeant.

LT. CMDR Moretti, Michelangelo N. ONI Tactical Field Officer Aboard UNSCS Prowler Silent Sanguine // Loading Bay Inner Colonies // Panis Eterni System // Esperanza II's Orbit 2551 Departure. Tag(s): Faclan , MrKill , edtosivaree After changing out of his officer uniform and into his field uniform and combat armor and gear, he headed into the Loading Bay to fly to the surface in the shuttle that was prepping for take-off. While he was checking his weapons, he waited for Agent Chris Hyde and the other two Operators who were on standby to meet him down here. The third one, Petty Officer Second Class Taylor Koval, was already down here; finishing up her weapons check. She walked over to the table he was standing at as he finished prepping for departure, and saluted him. He glanced up at her, and quietly gave her a nod before looking back down at his DMR he was checking. “Koval,” he said, “Long time no see. It's been a while since we last worked together on a mission.” “It certainly has,” Koval replied, “Just finished a long mission a few weeks ago.” Then added, “I'm ready to go, sir.” She was always so excited, he remembered, but he also had to remind her to only take out the guards the HVT has. “Koval,” he explained, “Just so I am clear. You are not to engage the HVT. The HVT has a UNSC-issued DATA-PAD on them, and we will use it's signal to identify them. In doing so, they will be marked as green on your HUD, and not red, like the rest of them. I know how much you despise aliens, and want to shoot every one of them on sight. So, use some of that trigger discipline during your assignment this time, Petty Officer.” Koval's excitement for going on a mission dealing with an HVT quickly dropped, but she nodded as she stood in attention. “Understood, sir.” “Good,” he shouldered his DMR, holstered his sidearm, and started to head toward the shuttle. “At ease. Departure is in five minutes.” Once he was on the shuttle, he stood, leaning against the doorway as he waited for the others to join him. He looked down at his TAC-PAD, and decided to send a message to Colonel Killinger.
By the time he finished writing it and sending it to the recipient, he glanced up as the other two field operators finally boarded the shuttle, with Hyde close behind them. “Good, you three finally showed,” he grunted mockingly, “What? Wanted to take your sweet ass time, and wait until the very last minute? Should have been down here ten minutes ago.” He closed the shuttle's door, which closed with a hiss, and headed over to inform the pilot they were all accounted for and ready to leave before sitting down in his seat with the other three operators. Soon, the shuttle lifted off, and started flying toward the planet below. While they waited, Moretti sent the information about their mission to each of their TAC-PADs. “I've sent you three Operators the information you need for this assignment. Remember, the HVT is to not be engaged; meaning, please don't kill it. We're here to capture it – Alive. It's going to surrender to us as well. I know! Surprise, surprise, but it is. Truly. We will be linking up with the UNSC Marines at a secured area, and where I will be speaking privately to Colonel Killinger who is down there before we locate the HVT.” While adding, "As for you, Agent Hyde. You will be given 'need to know information'. All you will need to know right now is that we're going after an HVT for capture, and we might need your expertise on alien languages for said capture..." He trailed off, grinning. "Just...don't get yourself captured by the enemy this time, mate...we might not be able to rescue you again, like last time." He tilted his head a little, and let out a quiet scoff. "Then again, Hyde. I bet you would want to get captured by the Covenant on purpose. You try to talk to them in an ill attempt at making friends. But...before you know it, they will severely torture and kill you, no matter how much you tell them you love them." “If either of you have any questions concerning your assignment, now is the time to ask them before we arrive in twenty minutes.”

(OOC: Time skipping to the landing zone thingy)
Staff Sergeant Shinji Akiwara 120th MEU, Echo Company, 4th Platoon Lake town LZ Ahhh crap....
"You okay shin?" Shinji barely heard Sam say, as he vomits out another chuck of his meal.
"Yeah.... just give a...." his speech interrupted by another round of yellow liquid pouring out from his mouth "...minute"
"This must have been your worst" Sam piqued
"No thanks to that freckin pilot!" Shinji yelled.
'Here..." he heard another male voice pique him, it was Corporal Aronski Valkin . Former ODST who got RTU'd to the squad a few years ago. "Drink down some water, otherwise you'll get dehydrated." he said as he handed Shinji a canteen.
Shinji quickly took the canteen and carefully drank the contents down. "Any news from the Lt yet?" he asked before taking down another slurp.
"Not yet" Sam replied. "Second squad got stuck back on the Iowa. The pelican they were suppose to board on had a malfunctioning engine so they had to wait."
"And 3rd and 4th squads?"
"En route as we speak. ETA 15 minutes."
"Feeling better now Shin?" piqued Amber, she sounded worried.
"Barely" he replied. "Still feeling a bit sick"
"Had the meds worked?"
Shinji shook his head as he took down the last slurp from Aronski's canteen.
"Thanks for the water Aron, sorry I had to take it all" Shinji said as he handed the now empty canteen back to Aronski
"It's ok Staff, I can always refill it"
Shinji just nodded in acknowledgement as he reached towards his backpack and opened up an energy bar. He had been vomiting non-stop for the last 30 minutes and it left him feeling exhausted and in need of energy.
"Staff Sergeant Akiwara???" an unfamiliar voice piqued up from behind the squad.
"Yeah that's me" Shinji replied as he looked up from his half-eaten energy bar to see a Corporal standing there.
"Captain Sorelson wants to see you Sarge"
"What for?"
"Didn't say"
"Right I'll be with you in a few moments Corporal"
The Corporal just nodded as he wandered around a bit as Shinji gathered up his gear and completely covered the pool of yellow vomit that he created with dirt and sand. Once done, he picked up his DMR and ran towards the Corporal.
"How did you managed to find me?" he asked as they walked towards the Community Center.
"Easy, I just followed the smell"
Shinji grumbled as he walked upstairs and found the captain.
"Thanks Corporal"
The Corporal just nodded as he walked off to join with the rest of his squad.
Shinji then walked up to the CO.
"Captain Sorelson? Staff Sergeant Shinji Akiwara reporting in as ordered sir" he said, careful not to salute.

Col. John Killinger 120th MEU Laketown LZ "Are you nervous, Sergeant?" John asked when he noticed one of the NCO's chewing his gum faster and louder than he had before. "Just anxious, sir. I mean no offence, but I thought we'd be doing more than this. I feel as if I am babysitting you." The Sergeant replied. John could appreciate the man wanting to join the search for the Covenant 'platoon' within the town. The Marines had been on the ground long enough to establish themselves at the landing zone; logistics were running and the mobile command centres were operational with everything they needed. Captain Sorelson and Captain Bowers had their Marines working at securing the town, alongside other infantry companies in the MEU, but the majority of the Marines were still being ferried to the surface or failed to deploy in time when the Iowa passed over the planet. Between 900-980 Marines had made it to the ground and reinforcements weren't possible until the UNSC Navy secured a position in orbit. The Iowa was long gone by now and the Marine dropships didn't have a prayer in catching up with the speeding cruiser. "Then go join your original company, Sergeant." The Colonel replied. The Sergeant nodded respectfully and hastily left, squad in tow, to regroup with his unit. John watch for a moment as the Sergeant navigated the LZ, dodging and weaving through Marines and dropships until he was out of sight. "Babysitting?" John mumbled. "I was a father of three by the time you were even a thought." "Captain," John called down to one his staff officers managing the units on the ground. "What is the status of our boys?" "Well, sir, we're pushing into the town at a healthy rate. No casualties through combat, six unrelated injuries through the deployment. A broken finger and a sprained ankle during the orbital decent being the most severe. Sum it up... we're looking good, sir. We should have the town within the next hour or two." John nodded. Satisfactory progress, but not good enough. "How many Marines landed from our battalion landing team?" "Uh," The Captain replied. "About 600, sir." At least 400 of them were securing the town. "Captain's Bower and Sorelson have the town already, I want the third to secure our flanks." "Aye, sir." John let his officer do his job. "Guardian Actual to Reaper Actual, good work on clearing those obstructions, our tanks are moving into the town. I've got a new task for you though, we need to get those H-Barriers up and around the LZ to protect ourselves better. Stop what ever you're doing and make that a priority, Guardian Actual out." John ordered, relaying the message through the encrypted company command channel. When the H-Barriers went up the Marines didn't have to worry about ground fire hitting them from all sides. "Guardian Actual to Viper and Echo actual, requesting sit-rep: How are you boys doing out there?" John couldn't wait for a reply, he had to get his troops moving on the ground. *Bloop bloop* "Huh?" John mumbled, producing his data-pad. It was from Lieutenant Commander Moretti. John remembered the ONI officer from a family restaurant back on Reach and recalled he had a bad day with a Marine who thought it would be fun to mess up the spooks face... or something like that. John remembered the blood and remembered explaining why Marines didn't like ONI, but it was a long time ago and both of them had moved on with their lives. He read the message and sent his own reply on the encrypted channel.

[Inner Colonies: System: Panis Eterni Sector: Esperanza II: Current Location: Surface: Lake Town: Town Square/Quad: Community Center: Direction: Southwest: Second Floor: Captain Mark Seamus ‘Spade‘ Sorelson]
“Captain Sorelson? Staff Sergeant Shinji Akiwara reporting in as ordered, Sir,” Shinji called out, and as he’d noted had been careful to have refrained from saluting.
After having sent the Corporal off as a runner, Mark had taken the time to find some much needed coffee although finding a serviceable coffee machine in the Community Center‘s upstairs cafeteria had resulted in one of the two being completely out of order with something to do with busted lines and the other hadn't had the caked in residue from past pots of coffee washed out. He‘d managed to make it back to the section of hallway he‘d set up shop in, and along the way had even tried a coffee vending machine only for it to spit out hot boiling water before dropping the cup. Once he‘d managed to make it back to his station with the erected breastworks consisting of an overturned end-table and a few sandbags, Mark had decided to check his own rucksack for coffee rations. When he‘d heard the familiar boots on the staircase and on the speckled tiled floor leading down the hallway, the aging Captain had looked up to set his rucksack aside carefully.
“At ease, Sergeant,” he said. “I apologize for interrupting anything you and your squad were doing, but I remember you were nauseas on the flight down. I know the Senior Airman gave you a bottle of pills, and from the gaunt look on your face to your skin which by the way is starting to regain color those pills didn’t work. Please, have a seat,” he’d gestured to a nearby chair knowing the young Staff Sergeant had most likely still been feeling a bit weak in the knees. “I know you must be feeling worse than horse shit right now, and I don’t blame you. I have a proposition for you, one that I’m hoping will help settle that stomach. We have a Med-station on this level set up in the basketball court. I want you to find the nearest Corpsman stationed there, and let him know I sent you. I want my marines to be at their best, but I don’t blame them for being airsick or space-sick as the case may be. Stay there as long as you need to, Shinji, and I hope you start to get better,”

Captain Jason Bowers 120th MEU // 12th Reconnaissance Company // Call Sign: Viper Actual East 10th Street, En;route to Hospital Laketown, Esperanza II, Panis Eterni System, 2551
Jason walked at a steady pace down the left hand side of East 10th Street with his companies fourth platoon. Lead by Second Lieutenant David Cooper, the Junior CO had never seen combat before never the less lead men into combat and Jason wanted to keep a steady eye on him. Cooper knew this and as such had taken up a position at the very front of the staggered file, half of the platoon on one sidewalk and the other across the street on the other with two meter gaps between each marine. Jason kept head on a swivel and looked up toward the roof tops rather than checking what was around him. Roof tops was something most of the inexperienced marines often forgot to check but Jason made it a habit from Day 0 on his first deployment. Jason looked over his shoulder briefly to see his company First Sergeant trailing steadily behind. Jason however stopped quickly and jerked his head to the left to look down a narrow and very dark alley way in which he heard some scampering noises coming from. With a quick flick of his thumb he turned on his MA5C's under barrel mounted flash light and illuminated the dark alley way. Two male figures appeared in the light, they were looting a couple of dead bodies, but as soon as the light hit them they made a break for it into a nearby building.
"Should we pursue." Jason head Rachel mention, obviously she had seen them to.
"Negative, stick to the objective at hand, I'll alert Sorelson." As Jason said this he worked at opening up a connection between him and the ageing Captain.
"Echo Actual this is Viper Actual, be advised. Looters have been spotted within East Laketown." That's all Jason had to say but he kept the channel open in the event the Captain wanted to respond. Shortly after speaking however, his helmet speakers blared with the voice of an unknown soldier.
"Viper Actual, this is Viper Five, I have eyes on your advance, out." The soldier spoke. Jason looked over his shoulder and down the street, he couldn't see anything other than a small blip which signified the soldiers position trough his HUD.
"Don't miss." Jason simply replied before turning back around and keeping on course to the hospital. The further they happened to walk to the East the quieter the gun shots and plasma fire became, which was a good sign, wasn't it?

Tags: Llau , SPARTAN-A120 , SuperCommando Chris Hyde - ONI Beard Now apparently en Route Y u heff 2 b mud?Relaxing in the comfy chair as he waited to see if Chen's team got his message Hyde tried to forget the attitude that Mike was giving him lately. But it kept coming back. It could have just been his way of coping with Sage being...taken - but it was lasting so much longer than it should be. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong with his former friend. Somthing huge had changed in him and it seemed to only be getting worse as time went on. Who know what ONI had done to mak He was taken out of his doom n gloom musings when his datapad beeped at him, several times in fact. Indicating a priority message. Quickly scooping it back up to read it he ugggggh-ed when he saw that he was to report to the hanger immediately for a mission. With none other than Mike as their leader. So he was going to ground - that was something to be sure. Hyde quickly bringing up his datapad to send another message to Chen and his team. "Chen, Mike is leaving the prowler to head down to the planet, I am ordered to go with. I think there is somthing important that has to be destroyed or grabbed. Stay safe, may not be able to give updates. Good luck."Putting it away and unplugging himself from the wall chargers Hyde quickly packed up his bag and then headed back to his cabin to get ready. Finally arriving in the hanger suited up, as much as he could with the armor he had been provided by ONI, Hyde was sure easy to pick out. Kitted out in cargo pants, thick boots, a long sleeved shirt and an armored vest over that. He was sure less equipped than Mike and the other Agents but it was what he had. Plus a backpack to carry his communication equipment, a ratio pack, and some extra ammo as well as rope in case it was needed. He looked more like some kid of hiker than just threw an armored vest on. But whatreyagonado? He stayed quiet as he was told to mount up and just nodded at everyone around; There was Mike of course, but also madwomen Taylor, as well as what seemed like two extra muscle for this operation. Another female named Laura, who was a mountain of a women with a large machete on her thigh - and then Thomas. A smaller guy but one who seemed to just be festooned with grenades and a odd looking rifle. Hyde knew they were 'less lethal' grenades and an air rifle for firing darts but it was still pretty intimidating. It really looked like a hostage kind of situation. That was a shocker. Mike going after multiple things to bring back alive. He would have to tell Chen if he got the chance. Especially after it was confirmed that it was indeed a HVT pickup. Hyde glancing down at his pad to see it was a Sangheili...interesting. That would explain why he was bring brought along. He glanced at Thomas's pad and saw there was load more information on it compared to him but he tried not to stare. But then the ridicule started. He did his best to just keep a straight face as he was reminded of his former time with the terrorists. He didn't respond that it was aliens that saved him with Mike just being there as an extra and just nodded with a 'yes sir' when it was finished. Strapping himself in and preparing for the trip. He would have to try and message Chen some more info when Mike wasn't paying attention. Thomas and Laura moving in behind Hyde and sitting down across from him, both of them looking as sick of having to babysit the nerd as Mike did. But they both seemed focused on the mission and not sassing him off. At least for now.

[Inner Colonies: System: Panis Eterni Sector: Esperanza II: Current Location: Surface: Lake Town: Town Square/Quad: Community Center: Direction: Southwest: Second Floor: Captain Mark Seamus ‘Spade‘ Sorelson]
“Guardian Actual to Viper and Echo Actual, requesting sit-rep: How are you boys doing out there?” came over the encrypted company-wide frequency from Guardian Actual and his long-time friend Col. John Killinger.
“Echo Actual to Guardian Actual, we‘re doing fine. From the second floor of the Community Center facing the Southwest of the Quad, the boys and girls perched here have a good line of sight and a good line of fire along the streets southwest leading into the Quad. The rest of Echo Company are spread in defensive positions throughout the Square, and I haven't had anything other than reports in the clear from them. I‘ve tapped into, and have multiple times attempted to reach any Lake Town PD Call-sign on the assigned frequency with no luck. I‘ve either received death cries, or static. I‘ve set an encrypted request for any able bodied Lake Town PD to head for this Quad or if they‘re unable to hunker down at their location. I haven‘t had any response yet. Hold, Guardian Actual. Break,” Mark replied back over John‘s encrypted channel as he received word from Viper Actual…from Captain Bower‘s group of the 12th Recon of looters spotted in East Lake Town. “Guardian Actual, be advised. Viper Actual has reported spotting looters in East Lake Town. Say again, spotted looters. If there are a few looters already, there‘s bound to be more of them. I‘ll send word along the Echo Company-wide frequency to be aware of looters and possible attempts for them to break our lines…”
As he‘d been about to continue his reports to the Colonel, several panels in the ceiling above him gave way allowing two civilians…one female and the other male to have swung out from a crawlspace concealed within the ceiling onto the marine captain. The female had wrapped her legs around Mark‘s head and neck in an attempt to topple him as her male partner attempted to disarm the marine, but Mark‘s grip on his rifle slackened enough for the Seattle-born marine to have brought his right knee up against the man‘s crotch. With a sickening crunch as the titanium prosthetic covered in marine battle-dress met with flesh coupled with a loud groan sent the male civilian into a fetal position while Mark attempted to dislodge his other attacker. With each squeeze of her legs, the woman attempted to squeeze the marine‘s airways as her fingers tried to find purchase beneath Mark‘s helmet. Four marines that had been nearby had heard the commotion and with several other marines following double-timed it to the Captain‘s position to find a young male civilian doubled-over in a fetal position on the floor near the older marine as he tried to fight off the blind fury of young woman resting on his shoulders. Two of the marines had reached into their rucksacks to draw collapsible stun batons and raced to their commander‘s aid, and as Mark had gone to a knee with two sharp jolts the young woman became limp only to fall backwards onto the floor unconscious but alive. “Thanks,” Mark tried to say, catching his breath and tried to regain his composure. “Bind these two and send them to the holding cells in the police station here in the Square. I need a runner to find the Colonel, and inform him we may have looters in the perimeter. I want teams to check the crawlspaces in the ceilings, floors and walls…wherever you can find them. Check every closet, every stall, every…you get the idea. Just get those two out of my sight,” Loosening his collar a little, Mark coughed a few times before his breath returned. “What did you kick me with?!” the young man cried, holding himself. “Never mess with a marine, son. I doubt you‘ll forget the feeling of a prosthetic,” the aging Captain said. “Now, get up. You attacked a marine during wartime. You and your girlfriend are under arrest, and you will be held in custody. I said, get up!” The young man tried several times to get up before his legs gave out, and two marines that had followed the others took hold of the man‘s arms. As per Mark‘s orders, the two civilians were slapped in irons and under the guard of four marines were taken out of the Community Center to the police station within the town square. The Town had been laid out with only one original police station located within the square, but as it had expanded other police stations and precincts had been formed in the various sectors of the town leaving the one in the square as the oldest and the most historical. Once there, the two were taken to two separate holding cells within the police station and the doors were locked. The marines stood outside knowing or rather hoping they‘d be relieved by others to retake their places in the defense of the town square, and hadn‘t pitied either of the two looters. Back at the Community Center, a Corpsman raced out of the med-station on hearing of an attack on the Captain and carefully checked if the marine hadn‘t suffered any lingering effects.

Staff Sergeant Maximilian "Drake" Fields 120th MEU, ECo./2/15, 1PLT Sergeant
Lake Town LZ, Esperanza II Checking out the CourthouseDrake watched as the marines of 3rd squad scrambled to set up sandbags around the sides of the pillars on the top of the courthouse steps. The elevated angle gave them a clear view of the square, and all the activities going on, including what looked like a company size element heading out away from the LZ. "Probably those Recon boys moving out." He muttered to himself as his attention turned to a marine who fell on his face well carrying a sandbag. "God dammit marine, this isn't fucken daycare funday," He reached down and lifted the marine up by his armpit, looking him in the marine's bloody face, "Dammit boy, go get yourself to medical, and send some marine over from 1st squad to take your place here." "Yes..Yes Staff Sergeant." The sound of running faded fast, and left Drake's attention when he heard a commotion behind him. His head spun on a swivel and his rifle came up as his attention focused on the glass doors of the courthouse. "3rd Squad report in, anyone inside the courthouse?" "Negative Staff Sergeant, my men are all out here." Cried out the voice of Sergeant Clandestine, who came rushing up to Drake. "Reports of looters though have been going around, should we check it out?" "I'll check it out, get these MG positions reinforced. Carmichael; Jackson on me. We're going to clear out the courthouse, Sergeant send a runner to the Captain, let him know we have looters in the LZ." "Wilco Sergeant." was the reply Drake heard before he motioned to Pvt 1st Class Jackson to open the glass door allowing them into the building. Captain Kelvin Duncan 120th MEU, 53rd Combat Engineer Company Attachment CO Laketown LZ, Esperanza II Changing Roles"Hurry about and clear out the rest of this junk, we can't get anything set up if our supplies can't properly land!" Duncan was proud of his marines, they had cleared out most of the junk interfering with the landing pretty quickly, helping assets get to the ground even faster, which meant they could set up proper defenses even faster. "Why hasn't that Albatross unloaded it's cargo yet?" Duncan called out to a sergeant. "We got to remove an obstruction sir, it's unloading a Sparrowhawk and it's pilot, there's another one right beside it waiting to unload the other one." "Tell your boys to hurry up and clear the obstruction than-" A voice came blasting over the comm line as Duncan issued that order. "Guardian Actual to Reaper Actual, good work on clearing those obstructions, our tanks are moving into the town. I've got a new task for you though, we need to get those H-Barriers up and around the LZ to protect ourselves better. Stop what ever you're doing and make that a priority, Guardian Actual out." The channel closed before Duncan could even respond, "Of course he closes the fucken channel before I can respond. 1st platoon, 2nd platoon, look for where they dropped off our equipment and set up the H-barriers, 3rd platoon, clear out whatever is preventing those Albatrosses from unloading those Sparrowhawks. Reaper Actual out." "Dammit Colonel, can never give my men a break" he muttered to himself as he went to go find Captain Sorelson, typically the Colonel also found his way to him. 2nd Lieutenant Darren 'Pyrex' Cariker 120th MEU, 9th Marine Attack Squadron LZ Laketown, Esperanza II Stuck in an Albatross"God dammit, hurry up and unload my bird already, I need to be in the air, not standing here on the ground." Pyrex had already classified this as one of the worst ops he'd been on yet. Which would probably be trumped by the next shitty start to an op. "We can't yet Lieutenant, there's still crap in the way that would damage your Sparrowhawk on take off, the combat engineers are rushing to clear it, should be done in a couple of minutes." Pyrex hopped out of his hawk, motioned for them to open the hatch. "I at least want to get some fresh air, worst than a morgue in here with the air quality." Pyrex decided he was gonna go motivate the combat engineers to hurry their asses. ------------------ "Come on there's enough room now for my bird to get off, we can taxi it away from this Debris so I can take off!" He yelled at the combat engineers who were busy tearing down what was life of the small playground that had been there. "Orders are to finish tearing this down so you can unload the sparrowhawk." the marine replied, looking at him with a confused look. "I can unload it, knucklehead, now get out of the way so we can unload and I can get in the air." Pyrex's arms abruptly rising about his head as he shewed them away. "Alright boys start unloading my bird!" Could be heard from a distance as he ran up into the albatross to start unloading the Sparrowhawk." -------------------- Sherman is still providing sniper coverage for Wax™Note: Air Support is now available starting next post ^>^

Captain Malcom Walker OC, G Coy, Btn. Landing Team "Misfit Actual"
Golf Company was part of the second wave to deploy. While many young Marines in his unit would have preferred being in the first wave, experienced (ex-) Non-Commissioned Officers like himself knew better. The ones who went first usually had the highest casualty rates. Especially when storming a prepared position. Fortunately, this planet wasn't that. Going off the take of his tacpad, the enemy was still miles away from them. Too far to even begin to threaten the landing just yet.
Then the Pelican touched down, and the Captain walked down the ramp, being the first in his Company. Of course, even with the troop pod, a single Pelican couldn't carry an entire Platoon, much less a Company. So, everyone had been divided over the frames. Though he had taken care to at least try to keep platoons mostly together.
After everyone was off, and the pelicans lifted again, Walker got on command comms. "Guardian Actual, Misfit. We are all present, requesting directions" he said. Then he switched to talk on Company comms. "Six, this is Five, get 'em ready to move." he commanded the Lieutenant that was the Executive Officer of his Company. A man Walker had once been assigned, but now fully trusted to take care of 'his' boys and girls if he kicked the bucket.

LT. CMDR Moretti, Michelangelo N. ONI Tactical Field Officer Aboard UNSCS Prowler Silent Sanguine's Transport Shuttle Inner Colonies // Panis Eterni System // Esperanza II 2551 To the Surface Tag(s): Faclan , MrKill He ended up becoming antsy the more he sat in his seat, and eventually stood up to pace around the shuttle before standing against the wall of the doorway that would lead to where the pilot was. He fixed his attention down to his TAC-PAD, and began reading reports from the Prowler as the AI gathered real-time data from the ground and space combat, while the shuttle continued its descent toward the surface. One thing was, he couldn't forget the expression Hyde had on his face when he arrived at the shuttle. He kept glancing over at him indifferently, but inwardly, he was starting to fume. He knew he was trying not to smile at him when he was talking to him about that one mission that happened not too long ago. Though, this wasn't the time, nor the place to argue with the scientist about anything that wasn't pertaining to the mission. He really wanted to, obviously, but he just ended up looking grumpy standing there. Several minutes or so passed after he sent that message through the encrypted channel, when he finally heard a quiet 'beep' tone from his TAC-PAD. He peered down and read it, and then started laughing to himself. He always found it amusing when some of these marines think that everyone at ONI are pencil-pushing shady nerds, who think of terrible things to do while sitting behind a desk all day...and then those same marines seem flabbergasted when someone like him show up, armed and ready for combat if the situation needed it. Though, he met the Colonel years ago when the man was a Captain, and he seemed alright, but that was back then. Then again, to him, Killinger seemed to be a smart ass. Problem was, so was Moretti.
After he finished typing his message and sent it, he looked up with a grin on his face. “I know that face...” Koval asked quietly, “What did you do now?” “Just having a friendly conversation with the Colonel.” She looked at him in disbelief. “Friendly?” A nod. “One that is filled with kindness and understanding,” He smirked. “I'm sure it was, sir,” Koval didn't believe him. She knew him better than anyone else in here, besides Hyde. Moretti shrugged, and changed the subject by saying, ““Not too much longer now until we arrive at the LZ.” He then went back to read the reports, and then took the time to study the battlefield before exiting out of the map. He then decided to finally sit down next to Koval across from Hyde and the other two operators with his arms crossed as he continued to wait. He stared at nothing in particular; though, the operators and Hyde were still within his field-of-vision.

Edto slowly grew bored of waiting, turning on her heel. "I will take it you are busy, however, I have taken command of the force that is set to siege the humans. If you would like to stop me... Well... Let's just assume you won't. Find the Heretic and end him. The Human Warband indicated they are looking for him as well. He cannot fall into their hands" She explained, wanting to throw focus of the Chieftain off her actions. Taking over the command would likely be a load off his shoulders, despite how broad they were.
She was quick to set up the attack. She had studied the humans ground tactics, and how they dealt with situations on the ground. She was not an officer who ignored her homework, regardless how little it mattered to her own job. However, she wanted some... Extra support. She pulled out her Datapad and hailed the Shadow of Retribution, quickly receiving an answer.
"Yes Shipmistress... What is required of me?" The voice of Nadra asked, setting Edto at ease.
"I have give you the coordinates of the City I am about to attack. I want all remaining forces aboard my Warband to drop in on it when I give the signal. Is that understood?" She asked simply, looking to the horizon. The Legion of soldiers behind her preparing to attack. She was meticulous in her thrown together plan. Wraiths, both Mortan and Anti Air were set up to bombard the City with Plasma, while the AA protected them. She had called in a few cretches of Banshees to keep the enemy air support busy as well. Shadows would bring in the first few waves while the Banshee's occupied the Air Support, then Seraphs would do the rest. She wanted fast... and she was about to have it.
Pulling out the Human Datapad, she sent a single message to Ombra.
J>>> Let the Games beging Ombra... I hope you survive...
With that done, she gave the command to attack, and the only thing the humans would know would be the rai of plasma burning their hides in the glorious field of battle. They would die with honour... At least she hoped they would.

[OOC: After careful discussion, and permission from Llau, here is the sequences of events that will transpire with the ordered attack above.] The first wave is already on the way. Lieutenant Commander Moretti, Hyde and everyone aboard the ONI transport can see them as they deploy to the surface. From a Covenant warship in high orbit it simply appears as bees leaving a hive. Hundreds of Banshees, Seraphs, Phantoms, Spirits and drop pods leave the vessel. The first wave the Marines will encounter, which will arrive immediately, is the sixty four Sangheili (Elite) warriors that were dispatched from the Covenant warship. These pods are scattered around Lake Town, some around the perimeter, others landing right next to buildings or even crashing through them. The second wave is already on the way, and like above, very much visible from approaching ships entering orbit. There are roughly two squadrons, one Seraph squadron - vastly superior to anything the Marines have on the ground - and another in the form of the lighter armed and armoured Banshee interceptors (which pelicans can deal with). These aircraft are supporting the deployment of wave one and wave three and are only temporary. Knowing the Marines have AAA defences, this wave will break off to repair and resupply if required, but will rejoin the battle with wave 4. Like above, this wave is also visible from orbit, however they are waiting until the first two waves have distracted the ground forces. The dropships will circle in high atmosphere and deploy when safe enough. The drop-ships will deploy troops all over the place, from the outer perimeter to roofs and within Lake Town itself. Marines will have to counter the drop ships immediately if they are going to survive wave four. Enemy vehicles will also be deployed; Wraiths, Ghosts, Spectres and other Covenant vehicles will make combat appearances against the Marines, but the Marines have a greater mechanised asset pool to counter with. Though it looks like a few hundred kilometres separate this legion from the Marine landing zone make no mistake: elements of that unit are already on their way. This unit is mobilising during the events of the first three waves. One thousand three hundred ground troops, including artillery and mechanised support. The Marines will likely not survive this assault of the UNSC Navy doesn't deploy reinforcements before it arrived. Over sixty wraiths, a hundred ghosts and other mechanised assets; the surviving banshees, seraphs, spirits and phantoms from the last waves; the legions own air support. It will be tough.

[Inner Colonies: System: Panis Eterni Sector: Esperanza II: Current Location: Surface: Lake Town: Town Square/Quad: Community Center: Direction: Southwest: Second Floor: Captain Mark Seamus ‘Spade‘ Sorelson]
“I’m fine,” Mark said, trying to get the Corpsman to stop checking him although he had appreciated it. He had no doubts the Corpsman had known he’d been needed more in the med-station than in checking on the older marine, and Mark hoped the man knew that.
“Are you sure? You fought off two looters, one of which tried to asphyxiate you…” the Corpsman began.
“I said, I’m fine. It’ll take more than being nearly choked to take this marine down, and I know my limits,” Mark interrupted.
“Alright,” the Corpsman said. “If you start feeling light-headed come see me,” As the aging Captain nodded, he witnessed the Corpsman packing up his med-kit and rifle before heading back to the basketball court repurposed as a med-station for the use of the marines.
With a respectful nod, Mark went back to his duties in fortifying his position and in getting each of the marine teams to report in before receiving multiple reports from various marines of looters encountered and dealt with. Movement caught his attention, a darkened blur before a tremor passed through the building, and a section of the semi-bulbous nose-cone of a drop pod passed by. The pod had clipped the roof of the Community Center at such an angle the pod had been sent clear of the building itself towards a construction truck garbed in yellow and white carrying a payload of steel reinforced rebar in the bed at the far end of the street heading towards the southwest from the Town’s square, and following a rather loud crash came to an abrupt eerie stop. A result of the pod's immense velocity and the combined weight of both the pod and the Elite aboard, the rebar had shot through the nose cone and the seat before having become lodged in the Elite. A brief trail had been carved out of the asphalt behind it while smoke bled off of the pod’s exterior, and while Mark had expected a panel to have been blown clear a panel facing skyward had been blown clear except he hadn’t been able to detect any movement from it.
“Echo Actual to Guardian Actual, we have company,” Mark relayed over the encrypted frequency he’d known John had been monitoring. “Echo Actual to all Echo Call-signs, prepare to repel and immediate action. Pods are dropping all over the place. Hostiles reported. Weapons hot, boys and girls. Break,” he said, switching over to the Company-Wide encrypted frequency. “Echo Actual to Viper Actual, we have company. Repeat, we have company. Be advised, Elites are dropping on the town,” he’d said having switched over to the encrypted frequency for the 12th Recon before switching back to the one for Echo Company. He’d kept the lines open for both Guardian and Viper Actual in addition to that of Echo Company.
Taking aim at one of the Pods that had impacted near another building, Mark had lined his cross-hairs on the Elite in blue armor stepping out of the pod and slowly squeezed the trigger back in controlled bursts. Marines around him on the second floor raced to their own positions if they hadn’t been manning them, and opened fire in controlled bursts on other Elites hopping out of their pods. The sounds of automatic weapons fire mixed with the screeching of plasma fire and other weaponry filled the square and emanated outwards into the rest of the town from the marines in their defensive positions.

ODST Sgt Octavia Alexandria and ODST Cpl Taylor Timperley, Lake Town, F.O.B
"Yeah, I get it. There are all sorts of aliens out and about. What's the point when we know they are eventually going to attack? Look, we aren't on watch right now, so let's just get something to eat, and move on from there alright?" The Sergeant said to the mute Corporal. They were both standing in wait t get food and some rest after a long day scanning the horizon. They deserved a break. The two eventually did get their food and ducked out to find somewhere nice to rest ad relax til their next shift.
"Yeah... It is a nice planet. Hopefully, we can save it this time. From what I hear we have two Carrier groups up there against two warbands, a carrier, and a heavy corvette. We might actually win this one honestly. Would that be a nice change?" She asked, looking to the sky. She was silent as she just enjoyed her time with her spotter when Taylor pointed at something in the sky. Octavia squinted her eyes to look at the lines of flames, pulling out her rifle to try and get a lock in on the object to identify it.
She really wouldn't need too, as the side of the building they were in exploded after a Covenant drop pod used it to slow down. The Sergeant took the brunt of the "blast", having shielded the smaller ODST. This gave Taylor the time to pick up her M392 to greet the Sangheili Major who was just starting to emerge from the Pod that came to a halt in the streets below. Octavia, on the other hand, was dealing with an eyebleed, trying to staunch it. Nothing lethal, but it was hard to shoot when blood was pouring into your eye.
"We need to reconnect with the others! Let's go!" Octavia shouted, hand to her brow and other picking up their gear. She threw Taylor her Helmet, putting her own helmet on to be greeted with the cacophony of radio chatter. Being force multipliers, they weren't exactly held down to a unit. "This is Sergeant Alexandria! Angel Six is ready and available to support units in the AO! We are in the church! I repeat, we are in the church!" She shouted over the line. "We are open and-" She started before she watched a phantom dropping troops down into the streets below them. "Oh, fuck me..." She said over the line, before setting up to defend the position as well as they could...

Captain Jason Bowers 120th MEU // 12th Reconnaissance Company // Call Sign: Viper Actual East 10th Street, En;route to Hospital Laketown, Esperanza II, Panis Eterni System, 2551Tags: Cabel, Cat, KillJason continued to walk down the small road that lead the Laketown's hospital. However it changed from a single carriage way to a dual carriage way as East 9th street met up with East 10th street. Which meant that Second Lieutenant Jake Winters' platoon had met up with that of Second Lieutenant David Cooper's. Winters had positioned his platoon behind that of Cooper's and progressively jogged up the ranks until he was walking side by side with Jason. Winters had a rather relaxed stance with his BR55 resting idly against his lap. Winters had a hold of it by the rear stock and the end of the barrel. Jason looked and took note. "Shoulder your weapon Lieutenant." Jason said quietly between the pair. Winters didn't say anything and just followed the command. "The hospitals one hundred meters up ahead." Winters said, shortly after he spoke Lieutenant Hunt the leader of second platoon began speaking over the company-wide encrypted frequency. "Viper Two to Viper Actual... Viper Three's street has converged onto mine and we are currently at the rear end of the hospital, how copy, over?" "Viper Two this is Five, solid copy. Hold position, spread out and await further instruction, over." "Yes sir, Two, out." Jason sighed to himself before breaking out into a light jog to catch up with Cooper. "Double time it." He said to the young Lieutenant as he passed by, Cooper looked back to his platoon and waved a hand. The entire platoon and the platoon behind then broke out into a steady jog as they proceeded to close the one hundred meter gap between them and the hospital quicker. About halfway however the sky cracked and popped over head, causing Jason and his marines to stop and dive for cover. However soon enough they realised they weren't under immediate attack. "Viper Two to Five! Look at the sky!" Jason heard Clair yell over the radio. Jason looked up to the sky and watched as about sixty or so Covenant orbital drop pods fell from the sky followed by squadrons of Banshee's and Seraphs. Jason heard one young Private scream out that the Covenant had Seraphs as if it wasn't already obvious, shortly after the arrival of the Covenant presence Jason was hailed by the Captain of Echo Company. "Echo Actual to Viper Actual, we have company. Repeat, we have company. Be advised, Elites are dropping on the town." Jason cursed under his breath before speaking over his own Company wide COMM's. "Viper Five to all call-signs... I want the marines of first and second Platoon to take up position around the buildings surrounding the hospital, whilst third and forth platoon take up positions at all the entrances, exits and strategic locations upon the ground floor and first couple of floors of the hospital. DMR operators are to go straight to the second floor, out." Jason then called out to all the marines in proximity to himself. "Double time it marines! I want to see some hustle!" " Private Sherman!" Jason opened up a channel with the Sniper/Spotter pair covering his advance. "I want you and your partner to double time it to the hospital and set up on the roof right now! How copy?" As Jason sprinted at full speed toward the hospital a fire-team sized group of armed men came running out of the entrance to the hospital towards Jason and the large hundred or so marines sprinting down the street. Although they had their hands raised towards Jason and the marines his first instinct was to seize them in case they were Insurrectionists. Although as he got closer he could easily distinct their LTPD uniforms. Jason began to slow down from a sprint to a steady jog and soon enough to a steady walk as he got closer. As did the rest of the marines behind him, although they had their orders and continued to walk or sprint past the police officers. "Boy, you're a sight for saw eye's son." An ageing police Sergeant addressed Jason. "UNSC Marine Captain Jason Bowers, 120th MEU, 12th Recon... We're here to help and evacuate this hospital, what's the status of it's contents, Sergeant." "All ICU patients have been evacuated to a safe zone outside of Laketown, but I haven't heard from my boys evacuating them for the past half hour, we still have at least a hundred maybe even two hundred injured civilians inside, including uniforms Sir." "Alright, what's the operational status of your men Sergeant." "I've got twenty guys, ten SWAT officers in full kit and the rest of us are just front line duty officers, but we can hold our own." "I don't doubt it Sergeant, but I'll have you and your men staying inside the hospital with my second and third Platoon protecting the patients whilst we figure out how to get these people out of here." "We have a LTPD Bird on the roof but the pilots in no state to fly it, also we have a few Ambulance Paramedics here." "I'll keep that in mind Sergeant, head inside. I'll need to relay this information to my CO." By this time the majority of Jason's two hundred marines were in position around the Hospital in squad sized pockets. Whilst the minority were still getting themselves set up. Jason walked into the entrance of the hospital which looked like a scene out of a retro zombie apocalypse movie. There was blood hand prints smeared all over the walls by the entrance. The entrance was barricaded with tipped over hospital beds and as Jason walked into the large reception room in the centre of the ground floor. There was dozens upon dozens of civilians sitting in chairs or on the floor or on hospital beds, some looked like patients who had already been here whilst a decent amount looked like walking wounded from the initial Covenant attack. There was a lot more people here than the Sergeant said he saw and Jason felt sick to his stomach. He was now the person in charge of all these people. All this civilian life. He could deal with leading two hundred marines into battle but protecting two hundred civilians was another story entirely. Jason looked down to see a small child by his feet, she looked at least seven years old. Tears welling from her eyes with a blood soaked bandage around her head and arms. Jason picked her up and sat her on his waist as he walked around the waiting room. The civilians looked at Jason and his marines as they walked through speechless. "Sir, permission to." Two corpsmen ran up to Jason. "Yes, go." They both nodded and ran off to help the injured civilians or aid the doctors and nurses working their hardest. Jason walked over to a nearby empty chair and sat the little girl down before opening up a COMM's channel between the Colonel and Captain Sorelson. "Viper five to Guardian Actual and Echo Five... My Company has landed at the Hospital, I have two platoons stretched around the perimeter post Captain Sorelson's warning to myself, with two platoons manning the inside, break. I have made contact with local law enforcement, identified manpower at this time is twenty souls, break. Report: Injured civilians and uniforms in the local hospital, LTPD Sergeant estimates at minimum two hundred civilians on site with a wide spectrum of injuries, currently digging in with the remnants of my Company, will require immediate evac when possible, how copy, over?"

Octavia swore as plasma shot through the window, reloading her SRS as fast as she could. When she heard the order to move it to the Hospital, she tried to move position closer to Taylor who was taking potshots out the window. "That is a negative on the hospital! Negative, on, the hospital! We are currently engaged and cut off from viable exit points! Classic Damsiles in Distre-" She said, as she watched a familiar blue orb fly into the window. The Grenade landed on the other side of the room, and Octavia only had a moment to push Taylor over and cover her before the thing went off.
Thankfully, it was far enough away to not kill her. Not so good news, it hurt like a bitch! She rolled over, trying to get the melted Pantleg of her BDU off, the boot was charred but usable. She hissed, clutching her leg. Taylor, on the other hand, was panicking a little. She needed to get help! She looked around, then decided to take a risk.
"Hide... I'm getting help" The quite girl whispered, shocking Octavia into a stupor as the Cpl bolted for a window ad jumped out.
"Fuck..." The awed sgt said, looking around. Her rifle was totaled, she could see the scope was slagged, but she still had an alternative. She heard the roar of an Elite and plasma fire that her partner was drawing. She could hear the chase, but wasn't going to ignore the suggestion to hide. She grabbed the rifle Taylor had left behind and pulled herself towards the doors to the steeple stairwell.
"Angel Six to Hospital, you've got an ODST with a whole lot of fire on her ass coming your way... Makes sure she makes it for me..." She sent over the coms, the pain in her voice obvious. "I'm grounded... Try to get me to if you can" She added as an after-thought.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Taylor didn't take the time to look over her shoulder as she drew way more plasma fire than she expected. It seemed the Covenant liked the chase! Well, she hoped she didn't disappoint. She ran past cars, post boxes, anything to throw the plasma off but it kept coming. She was really starting to regret her decision to run, now thinking about everything that could happen to Octavia if she didn't succeed. It drove her to run faster, not exactly sure how she was able to maintain the speed through her chest burning and legs screaming.
However, the hospital was close! She just needed to make it a little closer to be able to get in sight! She pushed harder, head down, gunning for a straight sprint. Started to curve the bend, and she could see the soldiers she was there for! Just a hundred or so more meters....
She wouldn't make it, though. Just as the Covenant turned the corner, one of the Elites took aim and fired at her, a bolt landing square in her back. Being thrown off balance, she flew, landing face first into the ground and sliding across the concrete a few meters before finally coming to a halt, her uniform smoking visibly. Maybe forty meters away from the hospital steps, she remained still as the small group came around the corner fully. Perfect for whatever Bowers had prepared to fire on...
Col. John Killinger 120th MEU Laketown LZ "Sir, we've got reports of looters in the AO. How do you want us to proceed?" One of John's staff officers asked. John hadn't anticipated malicious civilian actions in a time like this; there was still a Covenant platoon somewhere inside the town, as far as he knew anyway. He had honestly thought people would be trying to hide from the Covenant platoon strength unit, but it had appeared he was misinformed. Perhaps the 'creche' had already left by the time the Marines had made it to the town; a lengthy deployment from the Iowa could be blamed but John wanted to know for sure if any Covenant forces were in his AO. So far there was only evidence that supported the Covenant had left. "If they are unarmed, arrest them." John stated. "But if they're armed, use caution and try to detain them, but deadly force is authorised." John added after a brief pause. The Captain looked at him briefly before issuing the orders. "All call signs this net, this is C2, be advised: Lethal force is authorised to bring down armed insurgents only. Orders from actual are to attempt to disarm them if safe to do so, C2 out." John took notice of how the Captain called the armed looters 'insurgents'. "Captain, they're not insurgents, they're just armed civilians." John corrected. "But what if they fire at our devil dogs, sir?" The Captain asked. John thought for a moment. "It makes them stupid, but not insurgents." He could see the Captain's face turn into embarrassment. "I understand, sir." bloop bloop "You're new to this, Captain, it'll come to you. Just relax and let your training lead the way for now." The Captain nodded and proceeded to monitor the holographic table he had been working on, taking notes and issuing minor adjustments to units he was in control of; meanwhile, John had read the message he received on this tactical pad.
John smirked a little. He had barely known the man, but he had already decided that he would going to fuck with the ONI Spooks mind a little bit. He carefully read the message, and while he understood it entire, he was going to use the 'special' quote to make his own rebuttal. It seemed like the ONI officer had a similar personality anyway, something John could appreciate. He had decided to play it stupid before he had even composed of the message.
John knew fully well what the icon was, he had a wife and four kids, it was a common emoticon that Beth and him used every once and a while. As he finished composing the message he couldn't help but start to laugh at himself, catching the Captain by surprise, as his stomach-produced bellows echo'd in the now empty command albatross. By the time he finished he noticed the Captain staring at him with a smirk. "Uh." John started to explain. "Just something I said." "Right..." The Captain joked back. "What's your opinion on ONI?" John asked quickly. "Sir?" "Go ahead. Between you and me anyway." The Captain paused for a moment so he could think. "Well I suppose I like them. They're mysterious, but in my opinion... the less I know the better." John could understand where the younger officer was coming from. Enough information to do his job right, but if he had gotten more information than he needed, it could effect his judgement negatively. The atmosphere changed in an instant, however, when a message came through the MEU's command channel. "Echo Actual to Guardian Actual," Captain Sorelson said. "We've got company." "What?" John muttered. Another call had came over an emergency channel. "This is Sergeant Alexandria! Angel Six is ready and available to support units in the AO! We are in the church! I repeat, we are in the church!" "Mark that on the map." John commanded to the Captain, but the channel had already been cut off as another emergency radio call had come through by local marines. "Eyes in the skies, Marines, incoming pods!" A Marine called out. "Stay on your encrypted channels!" Replied another. With all the commotion going on, John decided to take a glance out the canopy window, and he noticed what had been falling on them. Elite versions of the ODST HEV; they were deployed from orbit, accelerated through the atmosphere and slammed into the area of operation with such a force that it send a concussive waive through the air briefly (if they didn't decelerate). John watched in disbelief as dozens of pods nailed into the ground, sending an unfortunate Marine flying through the air with their impact. John continued to watch as another pod decimated a pelican trying to take off. Its thrusters flared, kicking up dirt and dust, and rose a dozen meters into the air before the pod had struck the spine of the drop-ship. The pod crashed through the Pelican, remaining intact, while the Marine bird disintegrated in the air. An engine pylon fell off, the tail snapped and crashed into the dirt, while the main body spun out of control and came skidding to a stop a few hundred meters away before exploding in a fire-y ball. Despite what it had hit, the pod ejected its occupant. Less than fifty meters from the command albatross, no less. The Elite sprayed down a Lance Corporal who was trying to dash towards a pelican equipped with a rear facing machine gun; the man was at full sprint when he died so the smouldering body rolled in the dirt as his body rag rolled after hid death. The elite laughed in victory before his shields begun to flair when rounds from other Marines begun to counter the arrogant laugh. John produced his M6D at this point, ran out of the Albatross as best he could, and wielded around the cumbersome dropship... but the Elite was gone. Marines poked at it with the barrels of their rifles, thinking it was dead, but the Elite had the last laugh as he shot an unsuspecting Marine in the groin with his plasma rifle. John winched physically, turned away as the mans screams died down, and looked back when it was all over. The faces on the other marines were of disappointment. A good old fashioned coup 'de grace always ensured the Covenant fucker was dead, and because they didn't do it, a friend of theirs just died the most painful way any man could imagine dying. John's radio erupted over a command channel. It was Captain Bowers. "Viper five to Guardian Actual and Echo Five... My Company has landed at the Hospital, I have two platoons stretched around the perimeter post Captain Sorelson's warning to myself, with two platoons manning the inside, break. I have made contact with local law enforcement, identified manpower at this time is twenty souls, break. Report: Injured civilians and uniforms in the local hospital, LTPD Sergeant estimates at minimum two hundred civilians on site with a wide spectrum of injuries, currently digging in with the remnants of my Company, will require immediate evac when possible, how copy, over?" "Look up!" The Captain from the Albatross shouted. The sky was full of black dots screaming down towards them. John didn't have the time to respond as another pod came crashing down near the Marines at the LZ; the Colonel had to rally his troops before they were too disorganised to launch a counter offensive on the real threat that was coming down on them. " All callsigns this net," John begun, calmly. He had done this before, and it certainly wouldn't be the last time. "This is Guardian Actual. Orders to follow: Repel and engage the enemy in the AO, protect the civilians, and continue to secure the town, break. All able Warthogs with a M41 or Gauss rifle are to engage enemy air units when they're in range, break. All armoured assets are to push into the town and secure the hospital, all units at the hospital are to set up a casualty collection point, break. Good luck, Marines, Guardian Actual out." "Fuck." John groaned after he cut the line off. "Sir, you need to get back into the Albatross!" The Captain called. John simply gave the man a smirk. "What kind of officer would I be if I couldn't see what's going on. Stay safe, Captain." Before the younger officer could respond John had already moved passed him to collect his BR55, chest rig and rucksack. "I'll be fine, Captain. I don't fight them alone." "Yes sir." The Captain replied. John nodded and left the Albatross again, radio'd a transport Warthog to pick him up, and ordered the driver to book it towards the hospital when the bodies of deceased Marines were respectfully placed in the troop bay in the back. Courage. Duty. Honour! The eagle, he flies high above us; the eagle, he makes our spirit soar! John thought in song rhythm, a song from an ancient movie called 'Star Ship Troopers 3' or something like that. He gives me the strength to carry on, to fight, and win this war!
Chris Hyde - ONI Beard Floating down to mission time Weeeeeh war.
Asshole Mike was soon glaring at him again so Hyde just averted his eyes and sulked. Eventually pulling out his pad just like one of those damn kids on the bus and plinking away at it. First of all sending a message to Chen along the lines of 'HVT, Sangheili, GL grab yrs' just a quick one so it would take the least amount of time and then switching over to a game so it didn't look like he was typing out a big message of secret sharing badness!
Quiet beeps and bloops would soon be heard from his pad as he played a simple tapping game on it. Just something to try and keep his mind off the lives they were probably going to ruin soon and the real danger of baddies down there...But he kept getting distracted by the thought of those unaffiliated Covenant down there. He knew there already was some of course - from the Kig-Yar that saved him in that mission. But to now know there were some groups of the Covenant Host Races who openly fought against the Covenant was fascinating. If only they knew a way to contact them...they could maybe work out a deal. Supply them to better fight. Make the Covenant waste time trying to take them out and give ONI more time to alert and save Human lives...Ugh what an ONI thought.
Laura meanwhile was spending the time stretching, standing near a grab rail but otherwise stood up and doing toe touching and holding her position. Impressive with all the armor she had on as she did her own pre mission rituals. Thomas also doing his as he checked the various needles form a small box on his belt, each full with clear liquid. Before checking his SMG that he kept for actual work on his thigh. Double and triple checking his stuff in prep.
But all of them stopped for a moment to look out the windows as several Covenant drop pods streaked past them...heading for the city. So the battle was to begin soon. Hyde just groaning at that as the other two sub agents chuckled. Which only grew when Mike revealed that he had been talking to Colonel KillJoy and making a right fool of him to be sure. Mike was ONI after all, making fools of the jar heads was part of the job!
Cad - Ruutian Radio Operator (wave 4) Heading toward the city Lookat that big rain.
It was a slow marching process out to where the vehicles would slowly be landing to pick them up so they could approach the city. They had been told that it would be quite the battle to clear out the Humans, to distract them. To kill them and keep them penned in. On the whole Cad didn't like it, as he read over the orders again on his datapad so he wouldn't forget, not at all. So many troops thrown at the enemy they weren't even here to fight in the hope that it would distract the Humans. Wouldn't it have been better to send a smaller force with more ranged effectiveness to pepper at them? Or did the leaders feel like if it wasn't big the Humans wouldn't focus on it? From what Cad remembered the Humans were always busy trying to get all the none green ones out of places like this. It wasn't like they would stop caring about that all of a sudden.
At least he thought so, but lately he couldn't really trust his thoughts and memory that much. At least he could still move and fight - and he even got more accurate after he head bashing. There was something at least.
Checking the radio on his back with carbine attached Cad made sure it was still receiving and mainly just went back to moving. It was a slow march to the landing zone and they would not be mounting up for awhile. But he picked up the speaker from his shoulder and held it up as he heard the click of an incoming message. The Covenant around him quieting down as a broadcast reached them.
"The first wave has begun their assault! Glory to the Covenant! Scorch the Heretics from this world!" In both senses! The Humans and the unholy scum! Cad cheering with the others as they looked skyward to see the tiny dots plummet toward the earth of the Sangheili warriors who would distract the Humans before the Seraphs, following behind the dots, struck!
Sect Commander Orna Il’ Taghraee Observing the New Assault
From an elevated perch, the Ultra watched the beautiful flood of Covenant warcraft spill from the sky while one of his Kig-yar looked ahead through her monoscope. A raspy hiss of approval - and exhale from the burning town behind them - passed her maw. “It seems our objective is being dealt with.” Orna observed verbally. “The Humans will be surely crushed under the weight of our forces.”
“Commander.” A gruntled voice spoke through his comlink, giving a quick answer, “What is it, Major?”
“Everything is accounted for, all life have been extinguished here.” “Good, we march to our objective still. Taking your lances for flanking maneuvers, we will continue forward with the Jiralhanae.” Orna relays. “As you command, Commander. May the Gods grant you glory in the battle.” The Major said, causing a quiet chuckle from the higher-rated Sangheili.
“You as well.” He replies before broadening communications to several lances in at the same of time to address the gathering troops, “We march. The Glory of the Covenant and our Honor calls!” Behind, the assembled warriors of Sangheili, Jiralhanae, Kig-yar, and Unggoy roared in union with their small number of Wraiths going first as first armor into what would be known as the Third Wave.
Reticent Zealot Til Je'at Ze'at ‘Muramai Aboard the Reticent Silence
“What is she doing?” The frigate commander questioned with a clamp of his mandibles, his eyes swishing and making reviews of logs and battle data. The Communications officer working diligently in keeping the high frequency of the battlenet from escaping the system, denying the Heretics from calling out while catching anything useful along the way.
“What I expected, Commander. Are we in position?” Til’s voice growled in his comms with the answer being, “Yes, Honorable Zealot. We are over the objective.”
“Drop and keep communications on minimal. Update on situation and keep eyes upon all.”
“Aye, Zealot.” The silver-armored officer replies, nodding to his Operations controller. By the press of a glyph, the invisible ship spilled out a number of flickering orbital pods spearing through the stratosphere and a Phantom falling after them, making an arcing redirection of another location. While the Field Marshal have long accepted not all of strategy would fall into his vision, he was keen on taking advantage on unexpected opportunity and right now, his blade was poised to thrust upon his target. No more waiting. The Heretics - all of them - will be his in due time.
LT. CMDR Moretti, Michelangelo N. ONI Tactical Field Officer Aboard Shuttle Inner Colonies // Panis Eterni System // Esperanza II 2551 Tag(s): Faclan , MrKill , edtosivaree They entered the planets atmosphere not too long ago; which Moretti had already started to stand up and pace around a bit before holding onto a railing to look out the window as he stood behind the pilot seat of the shuttle. He was looking around, but when he heard the familiar message alert sound on his TAC-PAD, he sighed quietly to look down and read it. It was a message from 'J'.
His eyebrows furrowed as he stared at the message a moment longer before looking up to gaze out the window again when the pilot got his attention. He was now staring at the Covenant Warship as it unleashed many Banshees, Seraphs, Phantoms, Spirits and drop pods. It was obvious that the drop pods will get to where ever they were heading down to. “Fuck...” Moretti muttered as he continued to stare out the window. J's warning certainly made sense. He grunted a little as he replied.
He smiled, mostly in annoyance as he sent his reply to the Sangheili Shipmaster, and then continued to watch as the 'games' started. “Fucking cunt...” Moretti grumbled. “What, sir?” questioned the pilot. “Nothing...” “Looks like those enemy drop pods are heading toward the LZ, Lieutenant Commander,” the pilot mentioned. “Yes, yes...I know that,” the Italian muttered. “If you can find a safe place, then do so. I rather not fucking get hit by those damn things on our way to that town.” The pilot nodded, and Moretti let out an aspirated sigh. His TAC-PAD beeped, and expecting another reply from the Sangheili, he rolled his eyes and looked down at the screen to select the message, but it was from the Colonel instead.
He blinked after reading it, but eventually started laughing and forgetting about the Shipmaster for a moment. “Cheeky bugger...” He shook his head, smirking as he replied.
He turned around on his heel after sending it, and looked toward the back where the others were sitting. “Looks like we're going to have a rough landing,” he explained, “LZ is hot...obviously. So be on guard, and be prepared for a fight. There was a lot of those drop pods coming out of that Covenant Warship. Once we can help clear the area, then we will make a B-line to the Colonel so we can finish this shit.” He walked passed Hyde. “That's why we fucking prep first before leaving, Agent Hyde,” he then ordered, “take your seat and buckle up. Unless you want to personally see and feel what happens when we have a rough landing.” He sat down and buckled into the harness, and stared at him until the man was sitting back down. It wasn't long until the shuttle started shaking until it exited out of the atmosphere. The pilot had to run some evasive maneuvers, but then headed down toward Lake Town. Moretti and the other field operators under his command were pretty calm on the outside, but each of their adrenaline was rising the closer they were to the LZ. Eventually, the shuttle landed, and Moretti quickly unbuckled his harness, jumped up, DMR drawn, and pointed at Thomas to quickly take point, with him following after, and then Hyde, with Laura and Koval watching their six. While Thomas opened the shuttle door, he cautiously stood there waiting for it to fully open before walking out. Moretti took a moment to speak quietly into his headset. “Unit One is on the ground,” He informed the AI, and those on the Prowler, as well as the other team who was going after the Heretic. “LZ is hot. Under attack by enemy forces. Anansi. Send all intel of the attack to my TAC-PAD.” He patted Thomas's shoulder to silently inform him to continue to move out.
Staff Sergeant Shinji Akiwara
120th MEU, Echo Company, 4th Platoon
Lake town LZ Med stationWhy......Shinji woke up to the sound of automatic gun fire off to the distance. What the fuck? Shinji thought to himself as he gathered his thoughts. He was in a bed in the make shift med-station and had been there for the past half an hour after Captain Sorelson had told him to report here. He then found a corpsman who then proceeded to give Shinji some meds to prevent any more vomiting and then told him to get some rest, which he did. "Corpsman" he called out "What's happening?" "Covenant got the drop on us sarge. We're engaging now as we speak" the corpsman replied in his heavily accented British. "Your gear is beneath your bed if you want to join the fun" "Thanks" Shinji replied before gathering up his gear and began to put on his BDU. "Hey Shin!" he heard a familiar voice call out. "You awake yet?" "Yes I am awake thank you very much Sam" he replied, still putting on his BDU "Status report" "Covie drop pods are dropping all over the damn place. One dropped near the Community Center, Captain Sorelson and the marines there are engaging it as we speak. More are incoming though" Shinji just nodded as he put the last piece of his BDU in place "Wheres the rest of the platoon?" "2nd squad didn't make it out of the Iowa in time. 3rd and 4th squads have just landed thank gods" Shinji thought about what his friend said for a while. Lieutenant Allen was to ride down with 2nd squad, which means that he too is still stuck aboard the ship, which means that he is in command of the platoon for the time being. "Ok" he finally said, putting on his helmet "Have the men rally at the community center, lets see if we can give the Captain a hand" Before Sam could relay the order however, a female voice blared over the MEU wide frequency " This is Sergeant Alexandria! Angel Six is ready and available to support units in the AO! We are in the church! I repeat, we are in the church!" a brief pause ensued followed by " Oh, fuck me..." Both Shinji and Sam looked at each other awkwardly for a few seconds before Shinji broke the silence "Forget about what I said earlier." he said "That sounds like someone's in trouble. Tell the men that we're gonna make a run towards the church, have them rendezvous with us somewhere along the way" he finished before picking up his DMR and running out of the tent. ----------------------------------------------------------- (A few minutes later.......) "How many are there?" Shinji heard Sam whisper to a private.
"Hard to tell sarge" he replied "I count no less than 20... and that's just outside"
Shinji, and the members of 4th platoon echo company, minus the Lt and second squad, were now on a corner just beyond the Church where Sergeant Alexandria reported in her last transmission.
"So," Sam said, now addressing Shinji "What's the plan?"
Shinji thought about this for a minute before actually answering "We need a distraction. 3rd and 4th squads will stay here and lure the Covies out. 1st squad will then sneak around the back and enter the Church from behind. If all goes well we should be able to get to our guy. Questions?"
A corporal from 3rd squad raised his hand "Staff, how do you propose we get the bastard's attention?"
"I don't know, shoot them"
Another hand shot up "Staff, what happens if this fails?"
"Then we RV at a defensible position. I'll tell you where later. Any more?"
There were none
"Good" he replied "Move out marines"
"Don't distract them until you hear the all clear" Sam added before picking up his MA5C and started off towards the back alleys. "I'll be right with you Sam" Shinji called out. Typically, he would have stayed with the 2 squads, but he had faith that they will succeed with their task. He also wanted to make sure that 1st squad was truly ready before the action began. "Good luck" he said to his marines before moving out to join Sam and his squad. --------------------------------- (another few minutes later) " Echo 4-3, echo 4 sierra how's it going?" Shinji said into his mic. " Echo 4 sierra, echo 4-3 we're awaiting your word over" Shinji took a look towards Sam, he nodded his head, that was all Shinji needed. " Echo 4-3, light em up!" Instantly, the clatter of automatic weapons roared as 24 marines suddenly opened up on the Covenant in front of the Church. " Echo 4 sierra I think we have their attention now!" someone sounding frantic over the comm had shouted. " Copy that we're moving in" Shinji said before clicking off his mic. "Go" Aronski then opened the back door to the church and rolled in a flash bang inside. He then quickly closed it as a white flash emanated from inside. MA5 at the ready, he charged right in taking position on the left while another Private took his right. They both fired their rifles. Jackal squawks can be heard before silence took over. "CLEAR!" Aron called out before the rest of the squad moved inside. Shinji then took the lead and double timed it to the still standing stairs thank gods. "Everyone up!" he called. Before starting the ascend up the stairs to the second floor. As he reached the top, he saw a human clad in black armor lying still on the floor. No doubt the ODST who sent the earlier transmission. Oh god no..... Shinji thought to himself before rushing up to the guy to check on him. As he got closer, he could see that the ODST had her BDU melted off on her back side, no doubt from a plasma grenade. As he took off the ODST helmet to check for vitals, Shinji could clearly see the ODST was bleeding out from her eye. He then pressed his fingers on her neck. Thank the gods that she still has a pulse! He then quickly opened his canteen and poured down some water on her face in an attempt to bring her back to consciousness. " This is Echo 4 Sierra to all call signs. I have an ODST down at the church, requesting immediate evac over!" Shinji keyed his mike. "Aron take care of her for the while" he suddenly turned to address the former ODST. "HEY SHIN!" he heard amber yell. "WE HAVE COMPANY!" Shinji rushed towards the window to see what amber had meant. You have got to be kidding me..... he thought to himself as he readied his DMR and took aim down the street. The Covenant forces that had been distracted by 3rd and 4th squads had now turned around and are now charging back towards the church. From the other direction, he could see fresh Covenant reinforcements making their way to reinforce the 'retreating' covenant forces. Both forces are about to merge at the church. "Don't fire yet" Shinji said as calmly as he possibly could. His heart was pounding extremely fast now, and he is having trouble steadying his weapon. Shinji did a quick estimate of the enemy's forces. Approximately 40 covenant troops of various ranks about to converge on his and 1st squad's position. He took a quick glance around. All members of first squad had their weapons trained on the covenant forces. In the distance, 3rd and 4th squads are trying to make their way towards the church, in an attempt to attack the enemy from behind and possibly support first squad. A young private that had took position near him had his finger on the trigger already. He was shaking. Shinji then reached over and steadied the marine. "Hold your fire marine, wait until I say so" But he was either too high on adrenaline that he didn't hear the command, or he was plain idiotic, because instantly after Shinji had told him to hold his fire, leaned outwards from the window and shouted "YOU WANT SOME OF THIS YA FUCKING BASTARDS? " and sporadically fired his MA5C on full auto. Moments later, the Covenant forces charged. (OOC: the 2 covenant forces converging happened at the early minutes of phase 3. Please for the love of god come and support Shinji)
Corporal Connor Lawton, 153rd ODST, 2nd Platoon, 2nd Division, November Squad, Fireteam Krieg, Lake Town.
Connor sat covering the street with his MA5K scanning for any signs of covenant, and thought 'Where are those bastards?' He keyed his comm then said, "Anything on your side Xander?"
Xander replied with, "Nada Connor."
"Keep your eyes peele-" Connor stopped as he heard the message from the church and the bit at the end, "Shit team grab your gear we are leaving, we are headed to the church you have two minutes to meet me by the back door." He scrambles grabbing his helmet and pack and rushing to the back door where Sara is already waiting with her kit, not soon after, Xander and James rush down all their gear on with them ready to move. "Let's go." Is the final thing said as the push out back and move towards the church. As they pushed out into alleyway clearing the corners they slowly moved up to check the street to make sure nothing is visible. So they continued pushing in the direction of the church, passing burnt out and abandoned cars as they move along towards the church, though a covenant squad notices them and a firefight ensues.
As they are spotted, they immediately take fire their position being showered by plasma. Connor pushes back further into the alleyway and kicks in a side door, after several tries, to get into the building for better cover as they approach the windows to take up firing positions in its windows, and thus the return fire ensues quickly killing one of the grunts before they fully got into cover and figured out where the ODSTs were at. The bullets that hit the elites shields bounced off and only seemed to piss it off to which it launched a plasma grenade at the building.
Xander the first one to react shouted, "Grenade!" and the rest were diving for cover when it blew a hole in the wall. James was knocked completely backward by the shockwave as pieces of brick and plaster rained down in the room. Sara was the first one up and firing and Connor moved over to check on James and found that he was little more than stunned by the blast and his head bouncing off the cement floor. Xander was up next and firing his three round bursts towards the covenant and making sure that they were accurate and on target, though they continue to bounce off the elite's shield, James finally managed to shake himself out of his stupor patting himself down and finding no serious wounds is back up and firing as was Connor now focusing down a Jackals shield then drowning it in an ocean of bullets.
Connor pulls a frag grenade priming it, then tossing it out the hole towards the Covenant squad where it detonated taking a car and an Unggoy with it. And popping the Jackal's shield, to which it fell under a shower of bullets dying in a horrible scream and fired an overcharged plasma shot towards the ODSTs. The Elite's shield severely weakened flared brilliantly under the bullets as the ODST team continued to receive fire from it and another plasma grenade which surprisingly fell short and detonated on top of an abandoned car destroying the car and a nearby fire hydrant, unfortunately for him, Elite was brought down by a hail of gunfire, though not before he got a lucky shot and grazed Xander who cursed clutching his wound and, now extremely inaccurately, firing his weapon with one hand. Xander slides down and removes the shoulder pauldron he had on so that way he could coach James through on how to put biofoam on and then wrap a bandage around it the correct way, though James insisted he knew what he was doing.
Connor looked to James next and said, "You alright you were closest to the explosion?"
To which James responds with, "A few cuts and bruises, little singed, but otherwise fine."
Connor nods and says, "Good let's go, we need to get to that church and help them out." And thus after checking each other for wounds and then checking ammo they continue on their way towards the church.
First Lieutenant Alexei -Titan- Krevchenkov Angel 2 Actual 153rd ODSTs
Titan lowered his shotgun as he shredded a Grunt that had gotten a little too close when he got the call that an ODST had fallen.
"We've got to go and reinforce the church!" He yelled back to his squad and any other ODST in his platoon.
"Echo 4 Sierra, this is Angel 2 Actual, hold fast, we're moving to reinforce you as fast as we can, I say again, we are moving to reinforce you, hold on boys and girls." Titan calmly called through his inbuilt radio.
"Second Platoon! Let's save us some Marines!" He yelled to his men as he began running at a steady pace so that he would be battle ready when they arrived at the church.
Staff Sergeant Maximilian "Drake" Fields 120th MEU, Echo Company, 1st Platoon, Platoon Sergeant Laketown LZ, Esperanza II Are you F*cking Kidding me
"Clear!" Surprising this courthouse wasn't as massive as the outside made it out to be, One main room and three side rooms, and the three side rooms were dead empty. "You two clear out the main room, I'm gonna radio in for order-" The sound of crashing broke through the Courthouse though, followed by a massive explosion from outside. "Belay that order, double time it outside now!"
Rubbing meeting tile filled his ears as he rushed back through the glass doorway and onto the steps, the site of a burning pelican off to one side of the LZ, meanwhile Elites climbing out of their dam drop pods spotted the LZ. Drake looked at the sergeant who ran up to him, "Covvies are hot dropping on our AO, reports are coming in that enemy air is rushing our position as well, orders Staff Sergeant?"
Drake couldn't prevent himself from giving the sergeant a 'You just ran straight passed retarded to potato look'. "What do you think sergeant, get those machine guns to open up on these bastards as they climb out of their pods." Drake spotted two sparrowhawks as their engines started to fire up. "Cover those Hawks, those birds need to take off ASAP. Don't allow anything other than a human touch those sergeant."
The sound of machine gun fire filled the steps as the two machine gun nests they had set up started 'Talking' to each other, as the gunners like to call it. Drake hopped into one of the nests and listened in as a MEU wide message went out, basically telling them to blast any covvies they see. Perfect, let's get after it.
2nd Lt. Darren "Pyrex" Cariker 120th MEU, 9th Marine Attack Squadron
LZ Laketown, Esperanza II F*ck F*ck F*ck F*ck F*ck
Darren ploped down into his seat, excitement ran through his system as he prepped all the systems for takeoff. Up in 30 seconds, let's go boy. "Sidewinder 2-1 Radio check, you read 2-2?"
"God dam this bookworm makes me miss Deacon." Pyrex stated under his breath as he answered the radio check. "Bookworm, Pyrex, I read ya buddy."
"Dammit Pyrex, I told ya not to call me that."
"Too late buddy, once a nickname is earned, it's earned. Let's hurry up and get into the air before-"
Darren watched as a drop pod came crashing down through a pelican that was taking off. "Motherfucker" as he let go of the yoke, taking in the site for a few seconds.
"Shit, Pyrex we need to get off the ground now!"
Pyrex shook his head around and fumbled with the last of the switches, his hands scrambling as his mind processed what was going down. "The motherfuckers pulled an ODST drop on us, the motherfuckers used our own tactics bookworm, what the fuck." The metal click of his straps rang against the glass for a split second before the engines fired, drowning out all other noise.
"Sidewinder 2-2, Taking off."
"Sidewinder 2-1, Taking off."
They didn't wait for an all clear sign, if they waited they knew they were dead. "Bookworm, Radar is picking up fast flyers coming in, let's give them a warm welcome." The gauss cannon on the noise of his Hawk glowed as he unloaded some rounds into an elite who happened to step out of a pod in front of him. "That's for Deacon you motherfuckers." he muttered to himself as he brought his Hawk around, bringing it into a sideways strafe to avoid the Seraph Joust towards his position. "2-2 Engaging."
Captain Jason Bowers 120th MEU // 12th Reconnaissance Company // Call Sign: Viper Actual LZ Laketown, Fanning out Esperanza II, Panis Eterni System, 2551
"Soldier! Can you spare some bandages I need it for a patient!" A Nurse said hurriedly rushing toward Jason's side. Unbeknown that Jason was in fact a Captain due to the fact that he wasn't displaying his rank with his silver bars. "Yes of course ma'am, here." He said, he reached around and gripped onto his medical bag, unlacing it from his webbing and handing the entire item over. "Take it all."
"Thank you!" The young Nurse replied before rushing off to attend to an wounded civilian.
Jason had probably walked the length of the waiting room or main lobby of the Laketown Memorial Hospital about several times now as he continued to make plans and issued orders to his troops. He regretted the fact that none of his two hundred marines were carrying their rucksacks with them to hold extra ammo, medical supplied and even MRE's for the wounded and just generally terrified and hungry civilians. But at the same time he didn't regret it, he and his men were Reconnaissance marines and there for they worked light, less gear weighing them down the better. In fact about fifty percent of his marines if not more actually weren't wearing their full PPE. Many of them were wearing military baseball caps, boonies or even watch caps so as to keep themselves a little lighter. Other marines were only wearing their chest plates for protection and Jason had actually spotted one soldier who was only wearing his protective chest piece and knee guards for protection. However, with this relaxed fighting style that most of the veteran and senior marines adopted including Jason himself. The majority of the green marines still wore their entire PPE and BDU uniforms.
"Viper Actual, this is One... First platoon is set up around the perimeter of the hospital from the North side spreading around to the East then finishing at the South end, where Hunt's Platoon begins, rotating around to the West side before linking back up with us back at the North Side... We have a perfect perimeter around the hospital Sir." Lieutenant Winters reported in.
"Excellent news Winters, any Covenant sightings as of yet?"
"Negative Sir, I don't think we were spotted by the descending squadrons of Covenant as we rushed into position."
"Alright, good work. We want to keep it that way, we have two hundred civilians now under our protection and I don't want that number dropping a single digit."
"Yes sir."
"Keep my up to date on what is going on out there, understood."
"Yes Sir. Two, out."
Jason closed the channel between him and his Lieutenant before his COMM's erupted with the sound of plasma fire and what sounded like an injured marine.
"Angel Six to Hospital, you've got an ODST with a whole lot of fire on her ass coming your way... Makes sure she makes it for me..." There was a break within the transmission before the apparent ODST begun to talk once more. "I'm grounded... Try to get me to if you can"
"Who is this?" Jason replied but before he could get any sort of response the channel went cold.
Jason cocked his head to the side and began to walk to the main entrance to the hospital. He pulled back the cocking mechanism of his MA5C and shouldered the weapon. Many of the civilians saw this action and immediately begun to get quite anxious but for the most part remained silent. Jason jerked his head at a passing Sergeant. "Your squad with me Sergeant." The man nodded and quickly gathered the fire teams under his command before following Jason out of the hospital. Down the main steps and into the middle of the street. It was quite, aside from the distant sound of plasma and automatic weapons fire. But soon enough the almost eerie but tranquil scene of an abandoned street came to an abrupt as an ODST came swivelling around a corner a hundred meters down the street.
"This way marines!" Jason and the squad-sized unit of Recon Marines began to steadily jog towards the inbound full sprinting ODST. Though as she was but forty meters away a Covenant plasma bolt came out of nowhere and pegged the ODST in the back, sending her to the floor in what looked like an absolutely magnificent face plant.
"Shit..." He looked up and watched as the Elite who took the ODST down laughed before being joined by a group of seven more Covenant soldiers, another elite and six Grunts. "SUPPRESSION FIRE!"
The Sergeant and his marines spread out along the dual carriage way of the ordinarily busy main road that leads along the hospital. Taking cover behind multiple abandoned cars and other objects the marines begun to open fire at the Covenant soldiers. Jason however begun to run towards the downed ODST at full sprint. Only slowing down to occasionally shoulder his weapon and fire off a few covering rounds. Or to take cover himself. However with the downed ODST only forty meters away it didn't take him too long to close in. As he did this, his marines also slowly moved up to his position, to prevent the Covenant from advancing. Once Jason made it to the ODST he dropped onto his knees and slid to a halt by her side. Spotting no immediate weapon in her surrounds he shook his head before identifying her as a Corporal Taylor Timperly. Jason would grip onto the Corporals right shoulder and pull her onto her back, despite that being on her wound. He'd grip onto either side of her helmet and work at getting it off. Once he had he'd clip it to his webbing and lean down to listen for breathing and feel for a pulse. Both were there which was good. He'd then stand up, grip the Corporals arms and haul her onto his back.
"COVERING FIRE!" He'd scream out to his Marines before jogging as fast as he could with at best calculation, a hundred kilos of dead weight on his back. Jason would continue at this pace for as long as he could. Soon enough he found himself passing the Sergeant he had gestured to follow him. "Dispatch of those Covenant soldiers Sergeant! I don't want them knowing we're at this Hospital."
"Yes Sir." The man replied before yelling again. "Push forward marines!"
Jason continued to jog the ODST to the hospital and made it there surprisingly without getting hit. He jogged up the stairs and through the front doors before throwing the ODST down on one of the few medical beds that weren't turned over for cover, he then began wheeling her into the hospital.
"I need a medic here now!" He yelled through the lobby. At that, about fifty percent of the civilians began to panic and lose their shit.
"I want all these civilians moved to the higher floors now!" As that order was barked, any marine not guarding the perimeter began ushering the civilians to the higher levels along with the doctors and nurses. One nurse and a corpsman rushed over to Jason's side to look at the ODST.
"Where's she hit?" The Corpsman asked.
"Help me turn her over..." He said, grabbing hold. "Three, two, one... Go." The three and a nearby marine turned the ODST over so she was laying face down.
"Take her further in." Jason said before making his way back to the entrance of the Hospital.
As Jason exited the hospital he took cover by a small car which had mounted the curb and crashed into a marble wall at the base of the hospital steps. He watched his small squad of marines as they fought in the distance. It had looked like they were joined my remnants of First and Second Platoon to help mop up whatever was left. Jason stood up and was ready to rejoin them when a transmission from the Colonel came over the COMM's.
"All callsigns this net," There was a slight break in the transmission. "This is Guardian Actual. Orders to follow: Repel and engage the enemy in the AO, protect the civilians, and continue to secure the town, break. All able Warthogs with a M41 or Gauss rifle are to engage enemy air units when they're in range, break. All armoured assets are to push into the town and secure the hospital, all units at the hospital are to set up a casualty collection point, break. Good luck, Marines, Guardian Actual out." Jason let out a sigh of relief to hear that armoured assets, when available would be pushing to the location of the hospital. But not so relieved to hear that the hospital would become a casualty collection point. Although it was fully fitted for it, it was filled with civilians and with more and more marines present, it would simply become a bigger target.
"Spears, Cooper." Bowers addressed the leaders of Third and Fourth Platoon over the company COMM's. "I trust you two heard that?"
"Yes Sir we did."
"Alright... I want you to help transfer ALL civilians to the second and third floors... Then I want as much of the chairs and items in the waiting room and main lobby on the ground floor removed and ready for incoming casualties... And set the first floor up for wounded who need immediate taking care of."
"Yes Sir... Will do." The pair sounded off before the channel closed down.
Staff Sergeant Shinji Akiwara 120th MEU, Echo Company, 4th Platoon Lake town Church FUCK!
"FIRE AT WILL!!!" Shinji screamed at the top of his lungs as the Covenant forces charged towards him and first squad.
Instantly 12 rifles echoed through out what was left of the church as Shinji and members of 1st squad, minus Corporal Aronski Valkin who was still tending to Sergeant Alexandria, opened fire simultaneously.
"THEY'RE GOING FOR THE DOOR!" Shinji heard someone yell.
"James, Henderson" he heard Sam call his squad members "Get down there and barricade it!"
Footsteps can be heard going down the stairs as Shinji took aim at the aliens. He lined up a shot on a jackel that took cover behind a wrecked car, it's head just poking above the hood, and fired. He was soon rewarded with a splash of purple blood. Shinji then shifted aim to a group of 3 grunts that were heading to the door. 3 shots, 3 dead grunts. He then angled back behind a wall as he saw an Elite took aim at him with a plasma rifle out of the corner of his eye. Plasma splashed at the area where he was just seconds ago.
He then angled around and prepared to take some pot shots at the elite, only to be forced back to cover by a grunt who suppressed him with splashes of green plasma bolts. He then moved positions to the front window where a private just took a hit in the arm by a needler round. The round penetrated the marine's armor and was stuck inside the arm when it exploded. The man had now dropped his weapon and was on the ground, clutching his wound as Aron went in and applied biofoam to the wound.
Shinji then took up position in the now vacant slot and proceeded to cut down another grunt and fired at a jackel....... only to see that the chicken had deployed its energy shield in time as the round bounced off the shield harmlessly. Shinji cursed at this before taking careful aim again. Jackel shields were big yes, but they don't cover the entirety of the alien's body, there were weak spots, especially at the foot. Shinji then fired another round at the jackel.... this time aiming for the foot, only to be bewildered as the jackel somehow anticipated this and lowered his shield just as the round was almost at its foot.
He then took cover behind a wall as another group of grunts fired a barrage of green plasma, suppressing him. Another marine screamed. Another unlucky hit. It was the private who fired prematurely earlier. He had taken a few plasma shots right in the left shoulder and arm. Again, Aronski was on it. 2 men out of the fight already.
Suddenly, he heard an all to familiar screech in the air. "BANSHEES!" he yelled. "EVERYONE GET DOWN!"
Sure enough, 3, no make that 4 enemy banshees approached from high up and released their pay load. 4 rounds of plasma bombs came shooting straight at them. 1 fell short, 1 overshot them, 2 however had hit their mark.
One, had hit the wall, sending debris flying everywhere. But one, had managed to hit another private square on the back as he was running towards cover. No time for mourning.
The banshees came around for another pass, this time for a strafing run. Shinji ran over to move Sergeant Alexandria to a safe location, with the help of another Corporal. But they weren't fast enough.
The banshees came in high and fast, and fired a barrage of plasma bolts at the church. Shinji quickly hit the deck, but the Corporal was just a second too late. 3 to 4 plasma bolts had hit him squarely on the chest. His lifeless body did what he should have done a second sooner and dropped to the floor. 4 down, 2 KIA. Not good.
"WE CAN'T KEEP THIS UP SHIN!" He heard Aronski yell. "WE NEED TO MOVE!"
"SARGE!" he heard someone yell from downstairs. It was either James or Henderson. "COVIES HAVE ENTERED THE CHURCH!. REPEAT! COVIES HAVE ENTERED THE CHURCH!."
"FUCK!" Shinji heard Sam swear as he ran down the stairs to assist the 2.
Shinji angled around the hole that the banshees had made. He could see that they were getting ready for another pass. He angled around the opening and shot down an elite right through the head who was moving up to the church's back side. Snapping off a few more rounds before angling back to reload, he saw a familiar blue ball sailing through the air and hitting a private's helmet.
"TAKE IT OFF!" Shinji yelled before rushing in to assist. Now the private is panicking hard as the blue ball got brighter, but shinji managed to remove the private's helmet and tossed it high into the air..... right in the path of a returning banshee.
The banshee's wing clipped off as the plasma grenade exploded just as the helmet sailed past. The now single-winged banshee nosed down and crashed into a building opposite to the street.
However, shinji realized to his horror, that the banshees going for another run on the church, but rather on 3rd and 4th squads that have been pinned down by Covenant forces.
"Echo 4-3 you have banshees incoming!" Shinji frantically yelled into his mic.
"What? OH SHIT! TAKE COVER!" came the reply.
Shinji watched helplessly as the 3 remaining banshees did attack run after attack run on the 2 squads.
"FUCK!" he heard someone swear over the comms.
"MAN DOWN MAN DOWN!" he heard another voice came through.
"SHIT THE BASTARDS ARE COMING RIGHT AT US!" another voice came up.
"MARINES!" he heard the 3rd squad sergeant yell "STAND FAST!"
In the distance Shinji saw what remained of the 2 squads took cover. But as soon as they did, the banshees swooped in and unleashed their bombs.
"ECHO 4 SIERRA WE HAVE TO PULL BACK, SORRY STAFF!" the 3rd squad sergeant replied. "WE'LL TRY TO GET TO YOU!"
"THATS A NEGATIVE 4-3" Shinji replied, knowing full well that the 2 squads were so depleted that they won't be able to do much "PULL YOUR MEN OUT! YOU CANT DO ANYTHING ANYMORE!"
At that point, what remained of the 2 squads, broke whatever formation they were in previously, and ran back to the FOB. While the Covenant force that had attacked them, suddenly turned around and slowly advanced up the street to Shinji's position. If they don't get help soon. They're gonners.
"Echo 4 Sierra, this is Angel 2 Actual" he heard a voice coming through the comms. "Hold fast, we're moving to reinforce you as fast as we can, I say again, we are moving to reinforce you, hold on boys and girls"
"Angel 2 Actual" Shinji replied "Glad to hear your voice. But if you don't hurry you're asses up. There's gonna be no one for you to save here. Over" Shinji said before keying off his mic and readying for the inevitable attack.
