Yappa's The Walking Dead

So, I remember a few years back before my hiatus, we got a good ol' zombie apocalypse rp going. I wanted to see if anyone would be down for that.

Personally, I think a good "zombie world" to use for it would be to base it around The Walking Dead comics and tv show; zombies are slow, everyone is infected and turns when they die, a bite kills and turns you, etc. We could maybe depart from the Atlanta/road to DC area and go to a different city, maybe Phoenix or Nashville.

What do you guys think?

I'm down to RP the walking dead, I already have a series of characters from past rps that could be used. I would vote for a midwest City, like Cleveland, but that's just me. Great idea and I'll def. be joining.

Cleveland was also one I was considering, along with Detroit and Chicago. We can hash out specifics like that once more people sign up, I think.

Even if it's just something you and I do, I would like to flesh out a story--we could have people start in different groups. I have about 15-25 characters, some NPCs/stock characters that could be used.

Personally, you hear about places like Atlanta enough in the movies and comics that it sort of dried itself out.

Go some place exotic or somewhere that is attractive to tourists, maybe Vegas or New York.

I figure before we proceed we should hammer out the finer details.

I agree with starting in the winter after the Outbreak.

As for the city-Cleveland, Chicago, or Detroit? If everyone could cast one vote that would be good. Personally, my vote is for Detroit.

Finally, for our group of survivors, we need to decide whether we're already together at this point, or if we want to play out the initial meetings. Of course, there's also the third option that some characters will know each other already, and we'll have two-three groups or individuals run into each other. I think the best option is to have everyone initially separate (maybe with a few NPC's to your character, if you want) and then run into each other--for example, there's a seemingly untouched warehouse or grocery store which all the characters stumble upon at roughly the same time. The confrontation between them (whether it's friendly or not) is interrupted when the warehouse turns out not to be so untouched.

So, just in summary--vote for a city (Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland or other) and a starting situation (separate, together, or a hybrid), then I'll put up a formal OOC thread.

Curious, could we possibly do zombies akin to Dying Light? The slow, lumbering zombies are little... disinteresting. Dying Light zombies would be substantially harder and a larger threat. Not only that but the varying Zombie types would add to the zombies threat. UV sensitive, terrifying to deal with, and while many will claim "Numbers" the Haran Virus Zombies would be admittedly a little more fun to play.

I personally prefer the walking dead/romero askew zombies that walk, since the story should be about the characters and their struggles with the rest of humanity, not about the zombies all themselves. And Detroit is a fine place to start, I'll probably have my characters meet you guys on the road.

Yeah guys, go ahead and put characters in the character creation/OOC thread. Sorry, I should have added a post here clarifying that.

I'll plan to put up the IC thread Friday afternoon/night, so let's try to get our characters put together by then (I'm guilty of needing to finish my own). The convenient thing is that by the nature of this setting, it'll be really easy to introduce new characters at pretty much any time.
