Guardian Applications

As promised, We are opening up Applications for Guardians on the site. 

Your duties will be as follows:

- Grading lower tier profiles

- Helping with Story Missions

- Assisting New members where applicable.

Other duties will be assigned as determined by staff.

You will be required to be active 4/7 days. By active we mean being on the site, either grading profiles and/or contributing to discussions, etc.

People with less than 3 months on the website will be considered last.

Why you feel you should be a guardian (Two paragraph minimum.):

Yappas is something that has been in my life since High School, it's gotten me through rough times and has always been a place that I find myself coming back to--no matter how long I go away. The site has had its ups and downs with drama and activity, yet it continues to stand against the odds. This site has a complex story that is rich full of lore and tales that have been told throughout the years, and I would like to continue that tradition. 

As a guardian I want to help bring that enthusiasm to help new members. With my experience in profile grading and knowledge of the UNSC side of things I would like to help bring new members into the fold and get them involved in the community as soon as possible. I would accomplish this through interacting and adding more stories for people to participate in and feel involved. Overall, I simply want to help keep and retain new members and that would be my focus.

In all honesty, I'm not even sure where to begin with this, I could go into how Yappa's has been a home for me to have some laughs and get away from the struggles of RL or how it's helped me mature immensely over the last couple of years. I've seen some of the best that it's had to offer in recent years, and some of the worse it's had to offer in recent years, from drama and infighting, to beautifully crafted pieces of literature.

I know, last year around this time the staff team took a shot in the dark and promoted me from a member to a moderator. It was a big change for me, I'd essentially became a leader in my home, and I wanted to do everything I could to protect my home. I know I didn't do the best job I could in that position, and it still bugs me. Now I'm just a vet member, which brings on it's own responsibilities in itself, but I can't really help my friends who are taking on the roles of our site leaders as a veteran member. So I want to help my friends who have taken on the roles of staff members and the stress that comes along with it. I could care less about the title, I just want to be able to actually help.

This site is a place of release, it has brought peace and happiness in a house of chaos. Between abusive fathers, piles of homework, and raging siblings, this site has been one of my pillars of normalcy, and I wish to see it at it's best, for our sake. I have seen what happens when a good forum gets bad posters (Spacebattles) and I wish to stop that form spreading here. I am resourceful, between balancing angry and near-homicidal male adult parental units, insane siblings, hours of housework and homework, I always find a way to get on at one point or another, even if it is only for a minute.

My knowledge of Halo could use some work, but the helpful people here and the Internet are vast resources of both knowledge and support, my preferred position would be in the Covenant, as I enjoy their interesting nuances and internal turmoil. As a GM in many RPGs, I have the creative streak for the Mission planning, I know how to make an interesting story with many branches for possible PC interactions, and it helps to leave some spots vague until one gets there, then I know how to narrate with flourish. On another note, PCs are another ballgame entirely, as I said I would need help with lore, but I know how to give very constructive criticism to those who are doing something wrong in there, once I know what I'm doing. I hope you take me into consideration and will gladly wait for your response.
