Any questions relating to the Hecatomb should be posted here and I shall respond to them accordingly.

My god Beta, I've been waiting for so long for somebody other than me to make a contest/community event! Thank you so much for stepping up, this is awesome! I'll totally join this. I don't really care if I win either (although I'll certainly try), I just want to support ideas like this so that more people try coming up with fun stuff. I know that I'm already committing a lot to my D&D campaign and M9 is coming out soon on top of that, so I don't want to bite off more than I can chew, but it sounds like you'll need as many people as you can get so like I said, I'll give it a shot. I'm thinking of going with a Skirmisher Commando (because "commando", get it? ). Would that work?

Would Human slaves be acceptable? I am interested and I know you said aliens, I plan on being a Skirmy, but I ask because someone else probably will.

I was going to recommend Kael but I think she would do better serving as an observer, as gladiatorial entertainment like this would be something very normal for her (as a Gel). I can imagine her just sipping fine teas as she watches some Human be pulled apart by a Jiralhanae, nodding a bit with every limb removed ;D Probably sitting in the best Commodore seats.
But sounds like fun, shall try to get a few characters up shortly, but my big question is what time period shall we expect? I assume it is post war but just wanted to be sure as it would influence some of my character ideas.

I've got some questions too.
Do we use only the equipment provided, or would characters have some of their own equipment as well? For example would Elites have their regular armor and energy shielding, and would Jackals/Skirmishers have their energy shield gauntlets? Stuff like that.
And this next part is more of a suggestion, but I think it would be awesome if there were multiple arenas. Imagine the whole facility like a bookshelf, where every shelf is a separate arena and the viewing area raises and lowers like an elevator in front of whatever arena has a fight going on. That way people can fight in a variety of environments, each with different deadly gimmicks and such.

That way people can fight in a variety of environments, each with different deadly gimmicks and such. Thank you for the support SC, I'm glad you like the idea! A Skirmisher would be perfectly acceptable! All combatants are basically stripped down to their skivvies and provided equipment from there, and it's basic stuff like metal and leather armor so it sort of gets an ancient gladiator vibe garb-wise. Depending on the progress of the Pit Fighter's they will get progressively better equipment, so like a Pit Fight in first week will be unarmored, second week will be basic stuff like a set of leather pauldrons or a mail vest, third week will get steel gauntlets, ect. Same goes for the quality of the weapons, those will steadily improve too. I really like this idea about multiple arenas though, the bookshelf thing actually fits in really well with a bit of background stuff I'd been working on for it. The Pit Fighters are kept in tiered cell blocks, the problem? There are no toilets and the bottom of each cell is a grate, so they are literally getting shit upon by their superiors. So the better they do in the Pits, the higher up they get in the Cells, with more overhead coverage from fecal assault. So the tiered shelf concept with multiple arenas fits really well with it, and spices it up a lot! Thanks SC, this is awesome! Would Human slaves be acceptable? I am interested and I know you said aliens, I plan on being a Skirmy, but I ask because someone else probably will. I'm going to go ahead and say yes since it technically isn't against Covenant rules as long as the Human gets dead without gaining anything, and they are shady Kig-Yar running it after all so they probably wouldn't care anyway. I'll throw in a Sangheili should you need one Awesomeness! I appreciate this. I assume it is post war but just wanted to be sure as it would influence some of my character ideas. When this was being designed it was made with the idea it was set during the Human Covenant War. I should've mentioned this before, but Covenant PCs can be in the crowd and post in threads as spectators!

The first place I've ever heard of where being the underdog climbing the ladder means you could literally get shit on by the competition.
Is there a variety of ways that one can win a fight besides killing the other opponent? Like some sort of submission system or forfeiting, but the catch being if you do you are penalized in some sort of fashion. I'd imagine in quite a cruel way. And what would be the ultimate reward of winning so many times?

And what would be the ultimate reward of winning so many times? Isn't it obvious? "Freedom". And of course by "freedom", they mean the kind where they tell you they're taking you out back to the "ship" that'll send you "home". ... "Permanently..."
