Recently i was going through some old Rps I was in. Up until recently i had been making characters which resembled canon based on their face claim.
One of the admins had even noticed and had made the comment, I can't deny the character is original, but it definetly replicates the actual canonical character. So my question is, is it truly possible to make a canon/OC hybrid?

I'm inclined to say no. It is not possible.
For example, if you made an original ODST character and put a picture of Buck in the profile, that doesn't mean he IS Buck, or even has anything remotely to do with Buck. It just means that's how you picture your character's appearance in your own mind. (It also means you don't have much imagination. No offense, just never been a fan of face claim). That doesn't make the character a "hybrid" or anything though.
But if you made an "original" character using Buck's picture AND included characteristics that resembled Buck's behavior, personality, or background, then that's just plagiarizing and not actually being original.
So no matter what, there is no in between. Conclusion: Canon/OC hybrid is not a thing.
More important than "is it possible?", however, is "why would you even want to?"
Isn't the point of creating fictional characters (especially for RP purposes), supposed to be all about creativity and originality and imagination? It's one thing to be inspired by another character, but to actually take elements or features of another character and put them on your own just doesn't make sense to me.

Commando has a good point on this. The whole point of making a character is that its unique and original to you. While playing as a Canonical character is cool (Having done so as the Master Chief) It doesn't really compare with building your own legend with an original character.
So the answer is no. But great question however!
