Title basically says it all.
I enjoy contests, and not even from a competitive standpoint really. I honestly place much greater value in how holding a contest brings people together for a special event and to have fun celebrating each other's skills.
I also like being the host. I've run the Halloween Contest six years in a row, I've experimented with unique special events like my Continuum Aegis OCT, and even in regular RPGs I prefer the role of GM. I've also been brainstorming a new project lately that I hope to reveal at some point, but at the same time I've been thinking that I don't always want to be the host either.
With the conclusion of our most recent Halloween Contest, I've been thinking about how much fun that was and that I'd like to participate in something like that, preferably sooner rather than later. So to restate the question in the title, I'd like to ask the Yappa's community:
Would anybody like to put together a writing contest?
It could be simple like the Halloween contest where people just post one story about a certain theme, or it could be your own version of an original character tournament, or perhaps create something entirely new and exciting. If anyone's up for it putting something together I'd totally give it a try. I don't particularly care about winning either, I just think it would be cool to actually be a participant for a change instead of the provider.
On a related note, I think it would be awesome if we could do more contests and similar events on this site just in general. Not always for special occasions either, but sometimes just because.
So yeah, anyone up for getting together for a random writing contest?
