Out of pure curiosity, is it possible for a character to be promoted in a RP like for example: Admiral Forze slid a small hand-sized box over to Lieutenant Watts. Watts slowly opened the box, in it contains a shiny insignia of a commander. "Congratulations, Commander." he said. Putting an emphasis on the word commander. "You deserved it" "Th- thank you sir" Watts barely managed to put the words out. -------- Yeah, can we do that in an actual role-play, or that it has to be approved from a staff member for the promotion be official?
*Note: The characters mentioned above does not exist.*

Yes it is possible. In fact my Rear Admiral started off as Commander and has been promoted to captain and then Rear Admiral in an RP thread. So yes .

Promotions take place in a RP thread, however they need to be approved by a staff member. There are a few reasons for this:
The most important reason promotions are staff approved is because having a profile promoted - depending on the rank you're being promoted too - increases the tier that profile is... without having to redo the profile from scratch to match the rank. While you don't get away scotch free, as you have to meet the requirements of your new tier, it'll be significantly easier because you've already got the profile approved; and it'll be easy to write the history of your character since the events between promotions in your biography. There's been various systems on how to get promoted, but this is the current one.
If you'd like your character promoted, you contact the staff team.
The second reason promotions are staff approved is limitations to the organization. Since both the Covenant and UNSC Military's have a chain of command, we can't have 'X number of' a certain rank running around in the RP. For example, we can't have four Colonel's running around in the Marines because - organizationally - we only have one Marine Expeditionary Unit. Likewise for the Covenant organization, we can't have too many Field Marshals running around.
