I think this is how this is supposed to go, apologies if not.
Backstory;
After a less than stellar mission 8, in addition to many issues that have recently surfaced, AND the kidnapping of her only surviving Child - Kael is desperate. As such she had decided to leave the Covenant, perhaps forever, as she tries to re-forge the bonds in her family. First by going to see her Mama and sort things out with her, and then going to find Roh...no matter where he is.
- What:
A trip back to home (Gel lands on Eayn) to try and cleanse the demons of the past and forge a bond for the future.
- Who:
Mainly thinking it would be Kael and her Entourage as well as Mag and his crew of Kigs. Others could enter if they wished however.
- When:
Pretty much just after M8 ends.
- Where:
Probably mostly aboard Mag's vessel, but could be a Covenant/Kig-Yar station later in the thread. It would most likely end with arrival on Eayn and disembarking. As the Kael/Zaat talk would probably be better served in story format.
- Why:
Kael has become extremely disenfranchised with the Covenant after Roh, her only surviving Child, was captured by ONI. Add onto this how she was nearly crushed to death by Garatus, in front of Til, on the Prophet of Pitys' orders - and shes done. And so is trying to get home to talk with her Mama, neither having spoken face to face for years, and try to mend the bridge between the two of them before going out to find Roh.
- How
I think mostly taken care of in Why. But after seeing first hand how little the San 'Shyuum and the Sangheili see of herself and the position she has worked so hard to attain Kael has decided that they clearly don't need her, and left. Her recent inner demons helped with this decision but being beaten down to the floor certainly helped.
Content/basic plan:
Would probably start on Mag's ship, with Kael getting distraught as she start to think of all the things she has done wrong in her life with her family. Perhaps Mag would try and help her focus on how shes going to fix things. If others join they could help/hinder if they wished. Fights may break out. A station may be visited for more people to hop aboard if wanted. And finally arriving at Eayn for likely a different, probably solo, thread for me to have Kael and Zaat talk.
Size:
Generally small, probably no more than five. Other people that would reasonably fit into the mission could be Covenant officials (Til, Kubar, and the like) calling about Kael leaving before her's contract is up, to shout at her, or even perhaps to wish her well. Any other Covenant that may also be along for the ride could show up. And if the thread continues for awhile Mag may have to stop by a Covenant/Kig-Yar station for some fuel, and more characters could show up then.
But I am fine it being just BetaW and myself for some fun character growth.
