Mission 8 OOC

Sorry to have to bring this up or go to this stage but I'm going to announce here that I'm pulling out of this mission. All the fun and excitement I had for it is now gone and so I'm just going to bow out of it.

I'm sure peeps could hazard a guess as to why but I won't be saying specifics here, less this post get moved or deleted because of its content. If you want to know the specific reason you can always shoot me a PM about it and I'll happily discuss it with you there.

Don't think this means I won't be posting in the other boards, just not this mission - so if you want to post with me elsewhere will do, always up for that

This mission was supposed to be entirely user controlled, something we've never experimented with. Unfortunately it's creating a ton of confusing, but I'll do my best to clear stuff up. Just ask questions, please, so I can answer individually. I know some questions have been asked, but let's clear up the confusion entirely this time.

It's not a lack of detail because the detail was supposed to be provided by the members this time around, which was something a lot of people agreed on before the mission started. Fortunately, this can be resolved. Unfortunatly this new system required everyone to read every post to get as much details as possible, not just skimming through looking for a yellow reference to you. This system clearly doesn't work for us, so we'll be reverting back to our original system where the staff create the entire mission - including the details - unless this mission improves.

I think there are bigger problems than just how the mission is designed. It seems like the past several missions haven't garnered any attention. Something to look at.

People expect more than what the Halo Universe is, in my opinion. It's hard to create intricit plot elements when the Human - Covenant war's focus was humanities survival, the SPARTANs, them being pushed back but having a resilient defense [or at least they try]. Other avenues really haven't been explored. :/

I'm not really sure you can say that either of you when the Halo-verse is just that, a Universe. A massive space with lots of locations and situations that I'm sure aren't all war. Like for example the most recent(last two I think) Escalation comics; where we are told the story of a little outpost of Humans who survived a glassing (I think) and live in a mining location with ten or less people. They work to try and survive but some Kiggy scavengers, not Covenant affiliated(Both Ruutians and Ibie'shans), show up and start hunting in the frozen place. But they don't seem to know bout the Humans till oh no one of the Humans escapes and tells them because of rage and crazyness. Theres something different. Something that was caused or affected by the war, as a lot of things would be I agree, but not the war itself. Doing one type of thing all the time gets stale no matter how awesome it is, war or eating ice cream every day.

And even if somehow other parts of the universe weren't explored by the books or comics or games why can't we explore them ourselves? Why can't we have threads like Flight of Faith where the species of the galaxy have to just try and survive in the massive war through things other than firepower?

Yeah, but the thing is when people think of the human - covenant war they don't think about recent comics and novels set post-war. They don't think about ONI trying to keep the Sangheili Civil War going, or Locke finding a piece of Installation 04 drifting in space. What they think about, during the human - covenant war, is why is depicted on the novels and games set in that area.

Unfortunately the two things those all have in common - lots of killing each other and completing set objectives - is what is naturally going to be thought about for the human - covenant war era on this website and in the canonical universe. Every book, every game, references or displays how humanity is trying to survive through comments like 'smashed what was left of the home fleet', 'one of only twenty cruisers left in the fleet', 'Reach was humanities military HQ'.

It's hard to create elements of the Halo Universe without seemingly breaking something from canon. This explains why, when the main missions have no killing going on, posts are slower and less consistent. As soon as the killing starts though it seems interest is picked up and posts are more frequent. Read the last missions, look at the post dates. I'm positive, if you read every post and waited until combat started, the posting would be more frequent rather than the social aspects of the main missions - which tend to be slower and what not.

I have to disagree, it seems like every mission is the same, just a different background. Go to objective A kill blank enemies, fall back, rinse and repeat. It's repetitive and boring to be honest.

We've tried to change it up, though. New settings, new scenarios, and it still is 'boring'.

I'm just going to wait honestly till post war is brought up, whether it's a couple weeks or years, I feel that there would be a lot more room for creativity and exploration during those time periods.

You'll be part of Huka's Field Marshal' reinforcements heading toward the Titanium Mines from the North via Phantoms (check my map posted above) OR you are heading to the FOB to prepare to invade the planet after the FOB had been refitted for Covenant purposes.
