For You To Reference
According to the staff this wasn't warranting of a Cannon Proposal so I was told to put it here instead;
The following is a piece of equipment made by the Kig-Yar but one that they will happily sell to other species for some money or items. Feel free to mention your specific group having one if they had some trading done with Kigs in the past .
------------------
Name: B&B Box(Breach and Board), Defense Box, Box of fun, Captains Luggage, Crews boom box, and several other names that have been applied to the box over the many years of ship (both land and space) travel by the Kig-Yar
Picture:
The panels themselves; (For a Standard Box)
How they fit together;
Description: A type of sales pitch if you will.
It would be apparent to an observer looking at an installed box or one that has been removed from its station for use or demonstration that these are built to last. Built to last and also not easy to miss as the normal size for these boxes is 5x5x5 feet. Originally made of just simple wood panels fastened into a box shape nearly all the ones currently ready for us, in these days of Galactic conflict, are made of six metal panels. The way the boxes open vary depending on how expensive it was to get; with the cheapest models just having the labeled front being able to be opened and the premium models able to be unfolded and completely laid out flat so the equipment inside is easy to retrieve and pass out. If you get a good model the equipment will also all be in its slot where you left it, where as if its cheap you may open the box to find everything all in a pile, hopefully with the fragile parts still working and the explosives not set off or about to be in your cheap face.
They are often seen at the airlocks on Kig-Yar vessels so as to outfit a crew that is leaving. On the bridge as well as outside it. Most crewwomen will have a sidearm and knife with them while on duty but its often better to have proper weapons with them when possible or at least in reach. Most are recessed into the walls as to not get in the way but its also possible to just secure them to the ground and just look where you are going to not trip over them. It is often asked why the boxes don't contain any kind of body armor, but I would just tell you to go look at body armor and see how much space it takes up. I've heard of some Boxes being used just for armor but trying to fit armor and weapons into one box would be extremely tricky. You also don't want things hanging in the box as ships move around a lot and you want items to be solid in their holders. It also helps to keep weight down.
However, the large boxes have some advantages over basic Human lockers and just racks of equipment on the walls of a ship; for example even if a box is installed in a wall it wouldn't take long to to remove it entirely, set it on rollers, and moved out the ship to perhaps be moved to a base outside or or another trouble spot. The panels could then be disconnected from each other and set up on a wall or another location to act as equipment racks in the new base. Several small nest compounds on other worlds began like this, with the boxes serving as their weapon stores to defend their building zone from the creatures of the planet. In combat a box is still made of metal and several back-to-the-wall Captains have emptied the boxes, filled them with sand and dirt, and used them as very effective cover for their crews. As the boxes may be hollow but two sides of metal with that much tightly packed material will stop bullets no problem, and plasma will have to be applied in large quantities to get through it. Its more than just a simple equipment box you see, as if you have the ingenuity for it it can save your life or provide the building blocks for your future.
It is, unfortunately, very hard to give a comprehensive guide to what can be contained in these boxes of many things. Each Captain can fill them with what they want after they get the box itself, or put in a custom order when its being constructed. But some boxes have been known to contain instead of weapons tools for farming, repair tools for the ship, torture tools, and less than lethal items for taking slaves and prisoners. Lots of nice things come in boxes. But I'll explain two of the more common specific types that can be procured for a price. Keep in mind a box, if its for use in combat, is normally expected to outfit a team of five fighters.
* 'Standard' box: As seen in the picture (hopefully)
Panel 1: One C-10 and three other long arms (B-R4/R5) OR five medium sized long arms (B-R4/R5)
Panel 2: The sidearm's to accompany the long arms, the ammo is often loaded onto his panel as well.
Panel 3: Communications equipment for the squad. Either in the form of headsets or pads to keep in contact with the crew and the Captain.
Panel 4: Melee weapons, the number depending on what's loaded into it - but again its supposed to be enough for five.
Panel 5: A few packs of explosives for bulkhead breaching. May have extra space.
Panel 6: Five breathing masks in case of weak atmosphere or slow hull breach.
* Plasma box;
Panel 1: One Plasma Launcher and three plasma rifles/repeaters OR five plasma rifles/repeaters.
Panel 2: Plasma pistols or Needle Pistols, as most Covenant arms can't have ammo loaded into them the extra space is often used to store wrist shields.
Panel 3: Same as the standard with communications equipment.
Panel 4: Crystal Sabers, Jiralhanae combat Knives, or other assorted Melee weapons. Even energy swords if the buyer/outfitter is very well connected.
Panel 5: Several plasma grenades and other blasting charges. May have extra space.
Panel 6: Possibly breathing masks or anything else that would be loaded up prior.
