Hey guys.
Another community vote, with a topic that might interest some. This time around it's on the topic of main missions. For as long as I can remember the staff have been creating main missions for the members to enjoy, but the results of these missions vary from bad to excellent. A good example would be the pre-reset M6 on the two moons compared to the now deleted M3.
The pre-reset M6 only had a dozen posts in the span of a month, meanwhile the M3 I remember had over 500 replies and 10, 000 views and contained exciting elements people enjoyed like a MAC strike, tornado, rain and other effects that made the mission a breath of fresh air despite being a 'defend the city until it's evacuated' type of mission.
There were heroics, there was a great PvP battle and generally the members at the time enjoyed it judging by the number of replies.
So, Llau and I are here to ask you this:
Should we allow member generated main missions?
M/MM, an abbreviation for member main mission, are missions that are proposed by the members in the form of an interest check posted in the canon RP permissions. This area of the forum will undergo an extensive remake to accompany the new RP mission system you guys voted for in the past. We hope to simplify the process of creating a mission with that redo, but that's for another time, not this thread...
Now, member generated missions don't automatically become a M/MM. They need the staffs endorsement, and in order to get that, there needs to be sufficient interest. Almost like getting a sponsor for a tier six profile. Don't worry, the template to making a M/MM will guide you through including the unit missions. Remember, a main mission is merely the plot behind the unit missions now, in accordance to the previous community vote about that topic.
Main missions, most of the time, will be assigned an objective by superior officers in character regardless, so you don't have to worry to much about that.
Just a disclaimer: member main missions will not grant you the power to moderate it like it does with member side missions, it also doesn't give you the power to change the mission on a whim. The staff will control the main mission, the elements like power outages, severe weather, updates and responsibilities similar to that. They will also maintain that there is no god-modding and power playing.
The reason for M/MM's is to include the member base in the path of the in character role-plays we're RPing along.
If you vote yes you are voting to allow members to create their own mission content, plots, objectives and other mission related topics. This removes the staffs responsibility in creating a main mission for the members and transfers that responsibility into a joint responsibility with the entire member base.
If you vote no you are voting to trust the staff and guardians with delivering main missions for the members as part of their responsibilities for being on the staff and guardian team.
