Use this thread for any OOC (out-of-character) commentary or questions you have regarding the current Main Mission.
Hey guys, just so we're all clear on this, people CAN NOT see through the Neo Haven domes. They are not transparent, they are not rip-offs of Covenant energy shield technology. They are actual, physical domes constructed with multiple layers of sophisticated hardware. In other words, solid walls. They have artificial sunlight and atmosphere regulation in there, all kinds of machines and stuff that totally block all outside view.
I've seen some misunderstanding in recent posts regarding this already, so again just to clarify for all before this spreads any further...
YOU CANNOT SEE THROUGH THE DOMES.
Thank you.

Woop, I was misled. I hereby defer all responsibility for mistakes or canon violations incurred within the context of the M7 roleplay onto user 913.
Translation: Tracker did it.

It seems like there is a dust weed rolling across M7. As in it's pretty inactive right now.

Due to the high casualties suffered from the UNSC Fleet, all non-army personnel are grouped into the 'MARINES' objective. ODSTs are not deploying in their pods, combat engineers will do what they do best underneath the airfield and the Marines will complete their objective as a collective.

I thought Protector has a "thin" atmosphere, and not a "very thin" atmosphere...

It's just supposed to be thin. Has very thin been mentioned, if I have mentioned it I'll correct myself.

Since i forgot to specify in my post (Like a bafoon) the packages being deployed in the tunnels by my combat engineers are strong enough to cause disarray in the tunnels and cause enough damage to covvie forces to slow their advance down slightly, and cause minor damage to the tunnels themselves. (So if u wanted amounted of C-12 used it would be a small amount like 1/16th of a lb, since we all know how destructive C-12 is)

Heyo, I was just wondering what the 'underground' actually looks like. An underground city? The inside of a ship? A base? I'm not sure if it was specified so I decided to ask it here.

Referring to the series of tunnels underneath the domes that connect them to each other and the airfields. Think traffic tunnels.

Being that there are only 30 ODSTs, are we spread out between every area or bunched up?

Pelicans to the airfields, I believe. Alpha airfield, to be precise. Although, if you wanted, you could land on Beta Airfield...

Question with the recent massive earthquake since the short explanation left some questions;
Are Til, Kael, Kill, and Kill's daughter all dead now? Because to my knowledge all of us had taken an elevator or were down in the underground to begin with? If so then I'm going to be pretty annoyed that Kael was killed without warning and I couldn't do anything about it. My guys on the surface I can sort of posts with but not really the water plant, as explained lower. (I could say what happened underground, but that would be power playing Huka, you Kill, and Lax since your all down with me.)
If its not collapsed in that section then I would imagine at least that the elevator broke and plummeted down to the ground, likely crushing the Covies under it and badly injuring/killing the covies that were still on it. If that's the case and the Humans were not crushed then Kael, Til, maybe a Hunter and most of the first wave are now surrounded by Humans and a tank.
Cant really post at the moment.
But heres two other questions; 1. With the massive earthquake are the water pipelines now broke? So water is now overflooding the ground and the water plant? (I could say something happened, but that would be me power playing Cable and the other Marines there.) 2. With the shield domes down in places, can the Covies now bombard them and just pull the troops out?

No, these mission updates do not kill playable characters off (Unless you want to, in the case of Goody's KIA Marine) so you're safe there. If you can explain it even in the slightest way you're okay. It's not a total collapse, but it was major. The entire tunnel, for example, wasn't destroyed - it's more like sections have crumbled into each other but are mostly still intact - meaning people are trapped in sections (If they wanted).
As for the elevator thing, I'm pretty sure they're strong enough in the 26th century to withstand earthquakes if they're powerful enough to withstand a city around them being glassed. Just my opinion, so I think you'd be fine in an elevator. Scared beyond any hope, maybe, but alive.
As for the water pipes they are most definitely broken in some areas, but quite a few of them would have only been bent/damaged and still intact. Maybe leaking in a few places, so water pressure would drop in the Alpha and Beta domes. The areas of heavy damage is where it wasn't solid ground beneath what was shaking.
Airfields, for example. The tunnels, and what not.
On the cities there could be some surface cracks, but it mostly just collapsed buildings and destroyed sections of the domes.
As for the cities, If I were the Covenant I'd want to know how the UNSC has a shield that can withstand plasma torpedoes (With the thought they have used forerunner technology? Maybe there's an artifact to be found?)

Ok well you did say the underground network was destroyed so I wanted to clarify what you meant by that, maybe edit the post you made? Though I have doubts tunnels could withstand 11.5 if what we've seen on Earth is any indication (See lower) - all depends on where it started. Though with how big it apparently was I think it could have happened on the other side of the planet and we would all still be completely screwed. I also highly doubt the elevator could withstand an 11.5 quake since the largest one we have on record right now was 9.5 and it pretty much destroyed Chile (Even though it started in the sea) and made huge waves(pun intended) in Hawaii, Japan, and western USA ( earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/world/events/1960_05_22.php ). Especially since it was probably weakened by the glassing before hand. Water pipes are an eh as it depends how far reaching this quake was. If the quake was centered on the domes however I don't know if it would just be small damage as the shifting and up and down motions on all parts of the base of the dome would likely shatter all of it. Its just hard to try and post with the little info we have. Unless you are intending for us to set the scene for everyone else in our sections. I don't mean this to be accusatory but its info we need to know to be able to have good posts.

The goal is for people to set the scenes for themselves and the sections they are in. Creative freedom was the major goal with the backdrop of a city slowly falling apart. The quakes epicenter, the origin, was at least a couple miles away along the costs of the content.
Five hundred years into the future and I'm positive the materials, strength, flexibility and damage resistance has vastly improved. If a city can take a glassing beam and a building stand for a couple of minutes while molten liquid melts its superstructure it's got to be pretty strong. I know they work differently from the kinetic force caused by earthquakes but I'm sure the elevators would be able to withstand an earthquake.
It's hard to predict when (I don't think) it's not happened in canon. If I remember correctly elevators in the Halo Universe aren't even operated on cables anymore, but I could be wrong. I think they have a different principle of vertical movement. xD So, for the sake of RP, I'd just go with the elevator being fine. Maybe damaged, but fine.

I'm not in the mission but question: with the space mission basically dead, why not end it?
