(Ok, so. here's the basic idea of this thread. The idea is that you would use your normal RP characters, but they would likely not be as angry at other characters as this is supposed to be a happy time of story telling and item exchange. That's the basic idea at least, so hopefully people will like it at least a little and I'll try to answer any questions about this made up Kig-Yar holiday. Though I think it would be funny for a Spartan to show up and give gifts out like a robot Santa equivalent P:)
Nek breathed in the purposefully chilled air of the large asteroid deep as he smiled and adjusted his jacket, leaving the atmospheric control room as the other Kig-Yar nodded back to him. He had sent out the invites to nearly everyone he knew and was sure they could put aside their differences to partake in this little slice of Kig-Yar culture. He had even taken the time to explain the situation the invitees would find when they arrived, if they cared enough to read that far that is.
The asteroid would be very cold on the inside, not enough to be a danger to health as long as you had some good clothes on or insulated armor, but it was to create the right situation of what it was like back on Eayn where this tradition took place. When large sections of the ocean would freeze, trapping Kig-Yar clans on land or unfortunately out at sea for normally two months of time. With no-where to go the clans instead took to the land and met up with other clans across the land, and rather than fight in the icy landscape they decided that during these cold months where may of them were doomed to death if left alone, they would band together and light great fires to ward off the deathly cold. These locations soon became gathering places in those months, open to any clan that wasn't directly at war with another, constructions specifically build to hold the large fires as the Kig-Yar gathered around. It soon became a time to talk with the other clans, share stories, meet with the other clans for Mates or general trade, and with time soon became the main barter time of the year. With clans arriving from across continents to sell the fruits of their pirating the year before or items they had made. When the Kig-Yar had taken to the stars in their system the tradition waned, as it was more difficult to meet up, so instead the tradition lived on in the individual asteroids and ships of their race when they could - though occasionally they would have larger meet-ups on large asteroids.
Nek had included a little history in the rather long invites as well, but he and most other Kig-Yar on the asteroid would gladly explain the history to any who had questions as Nek moved through the asteroid slowly. In the large main room a similar construction had been set up similar to the ones back on Eayn, and it was about to be lit. Nek shielding his eyes a little as he gave a thumbs-up to the Kig-Yar near it. With a loud whoosh the main bonfire erupted into life, and the temperature in this room at least rapidly heated up. This was intentional, as the warmth would draw creatures in that didn't like the cold and hopefully make them more interested to talk or trade with the others that had been invited. Though Nek had had several smaller fires set up in hallways and smaller rooms in case they were too worried or just wanted to meet up with a smaller group of possible their own.
Rolling up his jacket sleeves a little he moved over to the large window looking out into space, a tiny black spec against the massive ball of light behind him as the light shone out into space. A good indication that this was the asteroid he had mentioned in the invite as he waited for people to show up - his stories ready and his gifts hidden away until more arrived.
