Best pilot in the know Galaxy!
Is what he keeps telling himself as he tries not to have a panic attack in the situation he finds himself in. But he is more so a knowledgeable mechanic with dreams of flight who is now very out of his league and possibly in trouble.
Appearance/Weapons:
As a Ruuthian and Ibie'Shan mix Qep generally just looks like a thicker Ruuthian with a stubbier beak and slightly shorter hair spines. To several Humans he meets they see this as something very weird but most Kig-Yar just see him as another Kig who just had some explorative parents. He as dull yellow skin, orange spines, and dull red Ibie'Shan style eyes.
For clothing he wears an old style of flight jacket with a light metal chest covering over that with mounting points for a breathing system should he be working in low atmosphere on the back, and several pockets in the front. A thick tool belt that is often full of various tools, and thick work pants, and just coverings for the top of his feed round out his appearance.
He has a compact dart pistol for protection in a holster on his thigh with a combat knife attached to it, but carries a suspiciously small amount of ammo for it. Likely do to his lack of general funds. His hul tool often kept in a pocket on his jacket.
Skills:
- He does actually know how to fly in theory, but in practice he is not good at adjusting to different crafts.
- Knows a lot about ship systems and so can talk about ships as he knows them well, he uses this to get jobs and move around. Also means he can repair most systems - but he really wants to fly.
- Has a very mechanically focused mind and is good at repairing most things if he has time to figure out how it works.
Suckages:
- Panics easily, which is not good when flying a new craft or in combat.
- Not generally skilled at combat either.
- Tends to boast more than he can actually back up.
Personality:
A boastful kind of Kig who often has panic attacks when alone as he tries to figure out what hes going to do. So far from home and people that would really help him with (what he thinks) are useless skills because he can't really fly. Uses boasts to cover his fear and otherwise tries to run from his problems.
Basic History:
- Born into Hul to a Ruuthian father and Ibie'Shan mother who were both water craft mechanics, had a normal early life and education.
- Choose to enter the space ship secondary school instead of water ships - mother did not support but father did.
- Did very well in the first year of schooling which cover ship systems and basic repair, but was always infatuated with actually being at the helm.
- Unfortunately did poorly in the last year practical tests and failed the practical part of the full Hul academy degree. But was able to get a competency degree due to the good early year.
- Qep was devastated that he would now not be able to get a flying job with any of the Eayn companies, and his mother was even more angry with him that he had failed. Enough to tell him to leave and never come back.
- His father was able to save him from working a labor job from one of his friends in the sea trade who knew someone in a far distance space shipping company. Getting Qep a job in mainteince.
- Taking the job mainly to get away from Mama Qep has done his best to keep upbeat and goal focused but the fact he was back in the engines room and now the bridge always weighed on him.
- Left the ship after its second drop off and nearly fell to depression and drink before a T'vaoan rushed through the station shouting for a pilot now! Qep managed to scramble to him first and claimed he was a Hul certified pilot! The supply run needed to be made quick and it was a bumpy fight to be sure, and part of the bulkhead on the vessel was damaged by the time it arrived at its destination. But Qep was able to explain away it as a mechanical issue with the Engine manifolds and connections. Some of his pay was docked but Qep didn't care. He had completed a successful flight! He was on top of the world!
- Until he realized that he now didn't know where he was, with people now thinking he was a good pilot, with very low funds.
