Welcome one and all to Yappas Halo RPG: Deadliest Warrior. Here, we feature two groups from the Halo Universe to battle to the death for your enjoyment! We will analyze their weapons and see who has the edge, eventually getting to the wondrous battle!
Now, let’s get started:
Today’s brawl will be between the lowest caste of Covenant members: Grunts and Jackals. The Grunts serve as the standard infantry for the Covenant Army, and are often used as cannon fodder. The Jackals serve a similar role, being used in Phalanx operations. However, the Kig-Yar’s keen senses also give them a placement in the Covenant’s marksmen and snipers.
Each group will be given an arsenal of four different weapons.
Let’s start with the grunts:
Plasma Pistol: The primary weapon to be used by Unggoy in the field of battle is the Plasma Pistol. This weapon shoots superheated plasma that can boil and burn an enemy’s skin. It can also be charged up for a greater effect, or it can EMP vehicles and battery powered weapons. The pistol is extremely effective when coming to depleting shield systems.
Needler: The close range weapon for Unggoy is the Needler. This weapon is the Grunt machine gun, firing automatic rounds of pink shards of crystal, that can stab into an enemy, and after a certain amount of time explode, in either a small or large explosion. It has a massive magazine and can reload in less than a second.
Fuel Rod Gun: The fuel rod gun is a rocket launcher that is rarely put in Unggoy hands. It is seen being used by the capable Unggoy Heavy only, and can deliver dangerous hits. The fuel rod has five shots that fire at a semi automatic pace, being able to bounce off of walls if times right.
Plasma Grenade: These are signature for Grunts to use. They are the frag grenades of the Covenant, used by many species. The grenades have a large area of explosion, and have the ability to stick to targets. When all else fails for an Unggoy, they may take these out and charge, suicidal.
------
Onto the Jackal race:
Plasma Pistol: A weapon seen in Kig-Yar hands as well, the plasma pistol is deadly in all the same ways as with the Unggoy. The only difference is the Jackals eyesight giving them an edge in accuracy.
Energy Cutlass: This weapon is rare for the Kig-Yar to use, but has been seen in Jackal hands before. It is similar to the energy sword, while being exceptionally weaker. It can boil through targets, but has a very low battery power and will deactivate after a few swings.
Energy Gauntlet: This gauntlet is the signature Jackal piece of equipment. It is similar to the Elite shield systems, but much more noticeable. The gauntlet activates a circular shield with a small nook indented on the left side for the user to fire out of. The shield will deactivate after taking too much hits. They come in two different strengths. The Jackal Minors wield weak blue shields, while Majors use hot red, stronger shields.
Needle Rifle: Similar to the needler in terms of rounds, the needle rifle is a semi automatic marksman weapon. It has a much more accurate, longer range, and fires faster needles than its slower moving SMG counterpart. This is only seen in the hands of Jackal Marksmen.
Time to decide the edges!
Plasma Pistol versus Plasma Pistol
Same weapon, just depends on how they use it. The Kig-Yar are more accurate, but at the same time, an Unggoy’s fear could prove to his advantage, firing quick, almost automatic rounds.
Edge: Tie
Needler versus Energy Cutlass
The cutlass would be much more deadly in a combat situation. One swip could cut a Grunt in a clean half easily. But, the Needler has many rounds, an almost instant reload, and can prove effective at close and mid range.
Edge: Grunts
Needle Rifle versus Fuel Rod Gun
The Fuel Rod gun is very effective. It fires five rounds of massive green plasma, that explode and can tear off limbs, or decimate someone completely if hit directly. Although, a Jackal sniper’s amazing senses and eyesight, given a weapon like the Needle Rifle, could kill many many things on the battlefield, likely more than a Grunt heavy could ever do.
Edge: Jackals
Energy Gauntlet versus Plasma Grenade
These are two totally different weapons, so judging is a bit awkward. If I had to pick one in this aprticular battle though, I’d go with the gauntlet. That shield of energy would be able to fend off the needle and plasma rounds from Unggoy shots, as well as possibly absorb some of the explosion from the Grenades.
Edge: Jackals
Alright, the stats are in:
Jackals: 2 Edges
Grunts: 1 Edge
We will have the battle and this matches results up tonight.
Time to place bets, Yappas.
