((I dunno how many of you are stalker fans, but I got to writing some and thought it might be cool to share and see what you guys think. I will be adding more of course.))
"Rez. Rez! Come on, we need to get going," Viktor shook him awake.
Reznikova sat in his sleeping bag, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. The sun itself was only just waking from it's slumber. It painted only a portion of the sky baby blue, the rest remaining dark except for the twinkling of stars. It was beautiful, but the morning wind still chilled him. He quickly threw on his kevlar vest and the autumn fatigues he chose to wear.
While Rez began packing his things, Viktor had already begun making breakfast; sausage and beans, heated on the fire.
"Another day in the Zone, ahh?" Viktor said apprehensively.
"It always baffles me how you can be so excited to get shot at," Rez replied dryly, still only half awake.
"Oh, don't be so glum! If we find this Morning Star, we will be set for life!"
Viktor had a point, although he was exaggerating. Barkeep promised them 4000 credits for the artifact, enough to supply the two of them with food and ammo for weeks. There was one problem, however: the artifact was supposedly located at the end of a valley, a valley that a posse of bandits had decided to make their base.
Rez removed himself from his thoughts as Viktor handed him a plate. Viktor hadn't cooked the food long though, but Rez knew he was excited to get going. Even then, Rez preferred it over the cold meals they often ate on the move.
After they had finished their meals, they rose and gathered their things. They followed the trail, marching to their destination.
