So, I recently had an idea to create an RP that is oriented around the Drow and/or Vashar of Dungeons and Dragons. Basically, we get to unleash our inner psychopath--of course, if Kenny joins, he'll just be acting normally. It will be a standard (YHRPG-style) Role-Play, not an online D&D thing like Lurker and SC were doing. Anyway, I don't have anything thought up for a storyline as of yet, but I'm sure I can come up with something eventually. If you have any ideas of your own about things in the plot, feel free to chime in. ((If you don't know what a Drow or Vashar is, or simply want to refresh your memory of them, go here for Drow, and here for Vashar.)) Name: Gender: Race: Age: Height: Weight: Appearance:
Standard Equipment:
Class: Alignment: Current Residence: Languages
Strengths: Weaknesses:
History: ((My character will not be the one making any large decisions, so this enables me to RP without mucking up the story a lot.)) Name: Valik Nar'Urszan Gender: Male Race: Drow Age: 97 Height: 5' 5" Weight: 141 lbs Appearance: Valik has short cropped bone-white hair, pitch black skin, and odd dark-sapphire eyes. He has a slender but muscular build. He is considered fairly handsome, even for a Drow, and his features are slightly exotic looking. He wears tough dark leather armor that covers vital areas on his body (a la Ezio's armor, being lightweight and flexible but protects decently). The armor is reinforced by thin but durable adamantine plates. Standard Equipment: ~Greater Piwafwi~Bracers of Armor ~Specialized Leather Armor ~Boots of Elvenkind ~Ring of Protection ~Darkwood Quarterstaff ~Hand Crossbow & Bolts ~Vial of Drow Poison ~Suitable amount of gold ~Survival Gear Class: Monk (Hungry Ghost) Alignment: Neutral Evil Current Residence: Ched Nasad Languages:~Drow ~Drow Sign Language ~Undercommon ~Goblin (smattering) ~Orc (smattering) ~Abyssal (smattering) ~Elvish ~Dark Speech (roughly 5-10 words) Strengths: ~Physically more strong and agile than an average Drow. ~Superb in melee. ~Excellent climbing skills. ~Fairly good at stealth. Weaknesses: ~Rather uncharismatic. ~Is utter crap at diplomacy. ~Tends to "lone wolf" at times. History:Many years ago, a renegade Drow from House Naezar Dierheszyurkahn, also know as House Nar'Urszan, rejected Lolth and fled to the surface. There, he managed to find a small community of like-minded Drow. It was not until several years later that the Nar'Urszan hunting party tracked the renegade to the surface. There, they slaughtered the small village, taking special pleasure in torturing the renegade to death. As they were leaving, one of the leaders of the unit found a half-breed child, a daughter of the renegade and a Moon Elf who had recently been living in the village. Out of pure spite for the renegade, the leader brought the child back down to the city of Ched Nasad. Back at the City of Shimmering Webs, the half-breed eventually became a High Priestess of Lolth, having a completely opposite personality bent than her parents. In time, the High Priestess gave birth to a male child, who was called Valik. In time, Valik was chosen to attend Melee Heladir, the school for Drow that would become the fighting backbone of Ched Nasad. During training, Valik chose the quarterstaff as his weapon and learned to use it to great advantage against his opponents. He became one of the top ten in his year, and was subsequently one of the best warriors in his House when he returned. Since then, he has been honing his skill, hoping to eventually become the Weapons Master of Hourse Nar'Urszan.

Interested.
I think sticking to one race would be easier to make a story for, which at this point looks like Drow because people are voting either for just Drow, or for something with Drow in it.
Also, were you thinking of running the RP as a GM (with or without a character of your own, doesn't matter), or would it just be all freestyle?
I can tell you right now that if this can be an RP with a specific storyline to follow with NPCs to interact with and decisions to make, then I'd probably be all over this. It doesn't have to be a long story either. In fact, speaking from experiance, the shorter the better. That way you can always make sequals if the first goes well, but if the first is too long then it will never get finished.

Yeah, I agree. It looks like we'll be going with the Drow on this RP. I'm still debating that, though I was thinking it could be a freestyle-esque story-driven RP. An all freestyle RP is nice and all, but it falls apart quickly because people don't have an overarching plot to move forward. Now, maybe the beginning could be all freestyle to introduce the characters, then move on to a story-driven thread when they are all gathered together. Good idea on the episodic RP's bit. I like it. And I can pretty much guarantee that we will have NPC's to interact with and decisions to make--it's no fun, otherwise.

Ok then man, count me in. What kind of character creation stuff should we have in mind going into this? Just to start planning ahead.

Also, shouldn't this thread have gone in the side interest board? But I'm definitely interested, I love D&D, count me in as well.

@sc: Really anything would be good, except for extremely ridiculous things, of course. I know that Huka's being a Battlemage/Eldritch Knight/Magus. Although, there is one thing: all the characters will start out at roughly the equivalent to level 10 in D&D; they'd be fairly skilled, but not too strong or weak. Of course, if you want to have a weaker character, I won't object. @ninja: I suppose so, but I like the Sandbox.

Alright, here's an update:
I have the main storyline figured out, but I'm still working on how the PC's get together, among other details. Also, even though I don't know how to lock it, the poll it closed--we will be playing a Drow campaign. I will have character outlines written up soon, so start making the basics of your character if you haven't already.

Name: Rizaufein Do’ndar Gender: Male Race: Drow Age: 143 Height: 6' ft Weight: 165 lbs Appearance: A tall and lithe Drow with long arms and legs, his black skin etched with a soft muscle tone, and noticeable wrapped in leather garbs of black and dark red with lightly armored boots. His face hidden under a faceless mask with a spider motif over it, seeming to have no eyeholes for him to see through with the expectation of the motif’s multitude of jeweled eyes.
Standard Equipment: -The Katars of the Spider -The Boots of the Spider -The Mask of the Spider -Vials of Drow poison -Piwafwi
Class: Assassin Alignment: Neutral evil Current Residence: The Glittering Vault Languages (Unable to speak but he understands fluently): -Drow -Drow Sign Language -Undercommon -Goblins -Elvish -Common

Weaknesses: -Seemingly mute -No social skills -Somewhat frail from his long absence -Mentally unsound, being loyal to only Lolth
History: A mysterious figure who emerged from the depths of the darkness, once a well-spoken and faithful servant of the Spider Goddess herself until his House was exterminated by a rival clan while he was away to seek a ancient artifact.
Finding himself shamed and betrayed, the Drow once known as Rizaufein Do’ndar vanished into the shadows and protected an ancient treasure of his House dedicated to his eternal mistress for decades, away from civilization and light. Killing any trespasser that dared to venture near the Glittering Vault, becoming less civilized until he became the twisted and silent guardian that he is now.

Name: Nai’var the Dark Mercenary Gender: Male Race: Drow Age: 131 Height: 5’ 8” Weight: 153 lbs Appearance: Nai’var’s most distinguishing feature is the eyepatch on the left side of his face and the nasty wound there that explains its use. He has very long platinum-silver hair, and allows his bangs to obscure the left side of his face somewhat. He has the black skin, red eye color, and dark exotic allure typical of his race. He usually wears his piwafwi, decorated with a large white flame design, tied around his waist when not in use.
Equipment: - Fancy, high-quality armor consisting mostly of hardened black leather with lightweight silver-colored metal protecting vital areas and joints. - Kusarigama with long chain. The weight at the opposite end is heavy enough to deliver crushing blows, but is also shaped like a hook, which can be used for a variety of non-combat purposes as well. - Greater Piwafwi (fire resistance) - Boots of Elvinkind - Hand crossbow - Masterwork heavy crossbow (with winch) - Satchel of bolts - Vial of Drow poison - Basic survival gear - Lots of gold
Class: Rogue Alignment: Neutral Evil Current Residence: Bench in the corner of a seedy local bar Languages: Drow Drow sign language Undercommon Elvish Abyssal Dragonic (fairly well) Infernal (smattering) Goblin (smattering) Common (smattering)
Strengths: - Charismatic and devious, Nai’var prefers to solve problems with cunning and guile as a first resort. Diplomacy (of several varieties) comes easy to him. - When that doesn’t work, he is also a veteran combatant, utilizing an evasive, high-mobility fighting style honed from battlefield experience. - Good shot with a crossbow. - Multilingual. From a carear of working for (but mostly against) a multitude of other races, Nai'var has developed a talent for communication. Understanding the enemy is the first step toword dominating the enemy.
Weaknesses: -Greedy. Nai’var enjoys the finer things in life, and indulges when a good opportunity presents itself. Easily bribed if the price is high enough. - Selfish. He puts himself above all else. He doesn’t share, and he poorly tolerates those who get in his way. Allies are mere tools for furthering his own goals, and he has no qualms about lying, cheating, stealing, or betraying them if necessary, or if profitable. - Thanks to his missing eye, Nai'var also has a larger than normal blind spot. Where most people can't see behind them, Nai'var can't see behind him or directly to his left. He makes a habit of being extremely aware of this weakness and attempts to compensate by listening hard at all times and by visually checking his left often, but it is still possible for him to miss things despite his vigilance.
History: Once a notorious mercenary, at one point in time Nai’var managed to secure a position of prominence as the Patron of a powerful house matriarch. However, when a rival house offered him great wealth to betray her, he was happy to oblige. He carefully and thoroughly sabotaged his mate’s entire territory and let the rival house's forces in, allowing them to easily slay the matriarch and her followers. It was during this massacre that Nai’var ran afoul one of his former mistress’s giant spider guardians, from which he received a severe wound to his face and lost his left eye. The incident left him with a strong grudge against the creatures.
Among the fortune granted to him in exchange for his cooperation, Nai’var also received his uniquely lightweight yet protective armor, and his fire-resistant piwafwi. He keeps the majority of his treasure hidden away, and has resumed selling his services as a lone mercenary ever since.

Alright, pretty good both of you.
However, there are at least 2 things I saw: you call your family's clans, when they should be Houses--I'm going off what I know, so if you have overriding info on that please correct me. SC, when the Matron Mother chooses a male with whom to mate with, they are called Patrons. Other than that, they look good.
By the way, we are using the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, at least a hundred years before the Legend of Drizzt began, which was in 1297 DR. I would go with Eberron, but I don't know enough about it to provide a truly comprehensive RP, sadly.
EDIT: I have added languages to the character sheet, since that will be needed for later in the game. All Drow know the Drow Language, Drow Sign Language, and Undercommon. Depending on the intelligence of the Drow in question, they may know several languages. Exceptions exist, such as Huka's char, who could understand languages but communicate through the Sign Language.
I have also changed the Magical/Unique Items bit to Standard Equipment. This is obviously what the character has with him almost all the time, and you don't have to include survival gear, since that's a no-brainer. You will all most likely have a piwafwi, Boots of Elvinkind, and a hand crossbow with accompanying poison vial.

She wandered the streets to a different area every night, and over the course of her 101 year life she gained the equipment she needed to survive and fight, and she set out to go somewhere other than Menzoberannzan, somewhere safer.

Alright, looks okay.
Just a couple things: You need to have an Alignment, and you should expand upon your S/W's like a YHRPG character--make it more detailed and beyond just D&D skills. Also, basically every single female in Mezoberannzan is trained to be a cleric.

Name: Sla'der Gender: Male Race: Drow Age: 87 Height: 5' 7'' Weight: 149 pounds Appearance: A smaller, but strong man this Drow may seem like he only seems big in his armor, but even without it you can see he is muscular and very toned. He has a few scars in each major area of his body and a large one next to his mouth making it seem like he has a permanent insane smile. Standard equipment: desmond.imageshack.us/Himg594/scaled.php?server=594&filename=hammer2.jpg&res=landingExcept the 'flames' spikes are actually very sharp and the bottom spike longer making it useful as a spear. 2x baliswords 1x large axe. Can be used as two handed but isn't as large as most two handed weapons. 1x punch dagger 1x rusty dagger Class: Antipaladin Alignment: Chaotic Evil Current Residence: Here and there Languages Drow, Drow sign language, Undercommon, has learned a little of almost every common language through his work but not much. Strengths: -Agile -Strong -Persuasive, in one way or another Weaknesses:-Held back by redemption, even if evil causing him to fight with standards, but not so when slaughtering -Slow -Not very smart History:Once a follower of the Holy path, this Drow has strayed to the path of darkness and evil. He was once a great man and valiant warrior but that changed when he was betrayed. One of the other nearby families had been accused of treason but instead of saying they weren't (which was the truth as far as Sla'der knew) they said it was his family. After returning from fighting the members of said resistance, he found his wife had been raped and murdered and his child killed. Shocked and angry, he immediately went to the town's guard and asked them what happened. Suddenly, they stopped him and they said they needed to arrest him for treason, so the Drow spoke one sentence. "This is for righteousness" With that he took out his ax and killed the guard's leader with a quick slice across the throat. The other four came at him and he returned the first's attack with a dodge and ax to the stomach which he then twisted, killing the man. The next attack caught him off guard and he was knocked off his feet, but not without making a large gash across the chest of the man who had tripped him. He quickly got off his feet while blocking a weaker man's attack and was able to break the guard's arm before chopping it off with his ax. As to have him endure the suffering of his lost limb he kicked the Drow back before coming up into a flurry of slices at the last guard who was killed quickly. Once the fight was over Sla'der went over to the guard with the gash who had attempted to run away and tried to break down one of the doors. Grabbing the excuse of a warrior's neck he threw him next to the other who was gasping like a fish trying to stop the bleeding from his arm. Not needing two men, Sla'der ordered the first to beat the man without the arm to death. Fearing his own life, the shamed guard did as he was told but did it as painlessly as possible. As soon as the task was finished the widower Drow forced the man to answer for why the guard's had slaughtered his family. After he had explained, Sla'der cut the other warrior's throat and headed towards the family who had accused his family's house. The whole time he headed there, all he could think about is what he had done against being a Paladin. He had thought there was unspeakable evil in this world, but always believed it could be cured in by him and others. But this... this was personal. Right? It was righteous to kill these liers and the guards who had butchered his family... under false orders. He cursed the world for what had happened and knew the other family would pay. Upon reaching the door of the betrayer's home he kicked it down and charged in. Charging in Sla'der beat the man and shoved the woman aside. Brandishing his ax they did as told and headed to the bedroom. Upon reaching, Sla'der did the same thing the guards had done to his wife in front of the entire family to not just the wife but both parents. He then slit the woman's throat and beat the man as he tried to resist. He next brutally chopped off the heads of each child before returning to the man who was now weeping and thrashing. Deciding it was time to end it, the Drow slit the other widower's throat slowly with his knife and stood expressionless as blood soaked him. From then on Sla'der has practiced the arts of an antipaladin. He believes that the world is evil and death is inevitable, so he is in his own way their 'savior' from the cruelty of life but knows death holds no glory. He has been called The Dark Savior by some, the Night Agent by others but a brutal murderer by most.

Good for the most part, except for some pieces.
Your Alignment should be definite; I suggest Chaotic Evil, since that fits with the Antipaladin and the typical Drow alignment. You should be much older than 37--the typical coming of age for Drow is around 80-90, I believe. As for the "Holy Path"...no, no Drow would be a holy warrior unless they were followers of Eilistrae. You would have been trained to be an Antipaladin from the time you were 10, more or less.
