Mapwaw lifted the power core and placed it in the generator. He was aboard the Transcending Voyage, a Jiralhanae ship. They were in a space port at Doisac, the Jiralhanae home world. Due to the now finished war between the humans and the Covenant, there were only fifty-seven Jiralhanae aboard the ship, along with roughly four hundred Unggoy. The Corvette seemed abandoned, it's average population being around 30,000. Mapwaw finished the repair, then returned to the Unggoy quarters of the ship. The small creatures had various colors of armor on, orange, red, green, and even black, but Mapwaw was the only one sporting brightly colored white-silver armor, the only Ultra. Ultras of his species were rare, and all Unggoy looked up to them. Mapwaw was in charge of almost every other Unggoy aboard, and was one of the smartest Unggoy ever to live. He walked towards his bunk, ready for sleep, when he was kicked in the back. He fell on his face, and his nose bled inside of his face mask and helmet.
He slowly got up to his feet, when he heard a laugh. As Mapwaw turned he saw an apelike creature dressed in gold, a Jiralhanae captain. "Oh, so strong, so scary you are!" The captain said, laughing again. He placed his foot upon Mapwaw's chest, and pushed him to the ground. "You've lived a long time Unggoy. Your race isn't meant to live long." The captain said, drawing a spiker. He tore Mapwaw's helmet off, laughing. By now all the Unggoy were watching, wearing various facial expressions mostly made up of fear. The captain tore off Mapwaw's face mask, his precious methane cut off from his lungs. It spewed into the room, light green in color, and the captain laughed again. He brought the blade of the spiker near Mapwaw's face. "Any last words, Unggoy?" The Jiralhanae asked, a wide smile on his face. "Die, asshole!" Mapwaw squeaked, and spit in the captain's face. He drew his plasma pistol, and before the captain could even blink Mapwaw brought the weapon to bear, and pulled the trigger. A bright green ball of plasma discharged out of the weapon, and hit the gold clad captain in the face.
His power armor's shields flared, but the plasma had already impacted. The helmet boiled and melted, warping to the Jiralhanae's face. He stepped back, dropping his spiker, and clutched at his face, screaming in agony. The other Unggoy, inspired by Mapwaw's actions, drew their weapons and fired at the captain as well. Mapwaw replaced his face mask, and breathed in his precious methane, sighing in relief." The captain's shields popped, and he hit the ground, the plasma having warped his body into an odd shape. Mapwaw donned his helmet, then looked at the other Unggoy. "Prepare you weapons, and follow me. We're taking control of this ship!" Mapwaw growled, and turned towards the hallway. He split the Unggoy up into ten creches, and they took the five different hallways to the bridge, two creches in each hallway. As Mapwaw and his two creches walked down the hallway, they found two Jiralhanae minors. They were walking and conversing with each other when they spotted the Unggoy. "Go back to your quarters, filth!" They ordered, and were met with the discharging of eighty plasma weapons down the hallway. The minors looked on in shock before the plasma roasted them instantaneously, boiling their flesh.
The alloy that the ship was constructed from turned black as the plasma impacted it, the superheated substance not being enough to melt it. The Unggoy continued down the hallway, until they reached the bridge. They heard gunfire and explosions through the door, and Mapwaw assumed the others had made it. The door opened, and inside lay the bodies of Jiralhanae and Unggoy, with six creches inside. Mapwaw and his two creches began to fire at the remaining eight Jiralhanae on the bridge. Mapwaw fired his plasma pistol, impacting a Jiralhanae thrice in the chest. He fell to the ground screaming, and two Unggoy minors fired at him until he ceased to move. Two Jiralhanae majors fell from the creche of spec-ops Unggoy, while a captain was blown apart from a plasma grenade. Several Unggoy fell as well, when one of the consoles exploded from missed shots impacting it, killing three Jiralhanae and four Unggoy. The last Jiralhanae stepped back, knowing he faced his death, before hundreds of plasma bolts impacted his body, leaving nothing more but a puddle on the floor.
The Unggoy cheered, before Mapwaw began to reorganize them. They had lost fourty Unggoy in the attack, leaving seven creches. There were ten originally, and only one was lost, causing Mapwaw to wonder what happened to the other two. He chose thirty spec-ops Unggoy to fly the ship, and they began to experiment with the controls. Mapwaw then lead the remaining six creches down the hallway the missing creches ventured down. Less than a minute down the hallway they heard gunfire and screaming, mostly of Unggoy origin. As they entered the second part of the hallway, bodies littered the floor. Only one creche of Unggoy remained, with thirty-four Jiralhanae combatting them. The Unggoy were panicking, until they noticed Mapwaw. "Kill! Kill!" Mapwaw yelled, and fired his plasma pistol into the chest of a Jiralhanae minor. The rest of the Unggoy reorganized and began to fire again, shouting "Leader is here, leader is here!" Mapwaw fired his pistol twice more, and the Jiralhanae fell to the floor, screaming. A Jiralhanae captain primed a spike grenade and pulled his arm back for the throw, when the ship suddenly lurched, and he dropped the grenade.
He fell on the floor, impaling his leg with the grenade, and screamed in agony as it exploded, blowing off most of the appendage. The Jiralhanae's screams were lost as the hallway was vented, and all oxygen was released. The Jiralhanae and the Unggoy slowly floated in the air, the Jiralhanae suffocating. Mapwaw floated near one of the captains, laughing. "We're gonna live, 'cause we got methane!" Mapwaw said, pointing at his methane tank. The Jiralhanae ceased to move one by one, and once they all had, gravity was restored. The Unggoy fell to the ground, and walked to the bridge, cheering at their victory. When they reached the bridge, Mapwaw sat in the captain's chair. "Good job on venting the hallway!" He praised the spec-ops Unggoy, and they smiled at the compliment. Mapwaw then pointed at three of the seven creches, "Collect the bodies. Take the Jiralhanae and toss them out the garbage holes, but put out brother in storage. We must not forget those who died for victory!" Mapwaw yelled, and the Unggoy cheered, before moving out to do their job. The spec-ops Unggoy then looked at Mapwaw, asking "Where do we go?" Mapwaw slowly smiled, before saying one word. "Balaho."
