Spartan shot all but two of the grenades, which flew past him as he made a sharp turn. The resulting explosion ripped apart a tree trunk, sending it crashing down in Koopa's path. Meanwhile, Spartan continued to fire nonstop at Koopa advanced HUD targeting system and aim-assist making him several more times accurate.

Koopa leaped over the tree trunk, then landed on the ground as the bullets raced at him. He roared as acid spewed out of his mouth, melting the rounds before they could touch him. He stood, and threw his hammer in an arc before arming and throwing a grenade. The hammer turned in a boomerang motion and shot right at the grenade which was headed for Spartan's face.

Spartan kept running when the hammer smashed into the grenade, causing it to explode several meters away. He set his pulse rifle to grenade launcher mode again, and fired several of the explosive projectiles at Koopa and nearby trees, the explosions ripping apart their trunks and causing them to fall down in Koopa's path, threatening to crush him and hinder his path.

Koopa kept running, leaping over and ducking under multiple trees. Knowing he needed another tactic, Koopa began to fly again, and pulled out his grenade. He set it to tracker mode, and proximity blast on Spartan. Throwing it, it soared after him, searching for Koopa's enemy, when his hammer boomeranged back to him. Catching it, Koopa fell to the ground and began to chase Spartan again, not willing to let his enemy defeat him.

Spartan veered to the side just in time as the grenade activated and subsequently detonated, another tree trunk exploding from the force of the explosion.

Using the explosion as optical cover, Spartan activated camouflage and circled around rapidly, Black Blade slashing quickly when he came around to Koopa's back.

Koopa saw the explosion and Spartan disappeared. Koopa heard a sound just in time and rolled forwards, Spartan's blade only cutting his back enough for it to bleed. Koopa turned and threw his hammer where the blade had come from, and charged up a breath of sand, spraying it all around him in an attempt to stick it to Spartan making him visible.

Spartan jerked to the side as the hammer glanced his shoulder, dropping his shields a bit. He then used his newly gained momentum to roll away from Koopa as the sand sprayed everywhere. He drew the pulse rifle and aimed it at Koopa's side, then pulled the trigger. Given that he was only about three meters away from his enemy, it would be very hard to dodge the projectiles.

Koopa leaped into the air, taking two rounds in the leg. He screamed in agony before dropping another poke grenade at his enemy. He then dropped near his grav hammer and picked it up, before turning, limping. He threw his hammer at Spartan in a boomerang motion in an attempt for the hammer to come around behind him and strike him from the back.

Spartan skipped to the side, narrowly dodging the grenade as it whistled past. The explosion staggered him slightly, lowering his shields even more. He ducked as the hammer sailed overhead, then opened fire on Koopa again. Almost a second later, an object appeared on his motion tracker from behind, hurtling toward him.

He broke into a mad dash towards Koopa, pulse rounds leading the way. Just before the hammer hit hit back, he jumped and activated his jump-jets at the same time. The result was that he rocketed into the air, leaving the hammer careening at Koopa while Spartan fired from above.

Koopa caught his hammer and dived to the right, narrowly avoiding the weapons fire, one grazing his arm. He ran in circles around Spartan while he was in the air, avoiding his weapons and breathing fire all around him, creating a ring of fire that extended to the canopy, making it impossible for Spartan to leave the ring without touching the fire. Koopa then tossed another pokegrenade inside, attempting to either blow Spartan up or force him into the fire.

Spartan landed a sturdy branch right before the inferno erupted below, roaring up to meet him. He sprang off, avoiding the wall of fire as it reached into the canopy, at the same time activating camouflage. Still in the air, he fired a scattering of delayed grenades at Koopa that would detonate a second after they covertly buried into the ground near his feet.

He hit the ground running, though he was still silent as a whisper. The grenades detonated before he had taken his first step, then he was sprinting through the trees behind Koopa, rifle firing at his foe intermittently.

Koopa saw the grenades hit, and rolled to the right before leaping to his feet and running as fast as he could away from Spartan and the grenades. The grenades detonated, tossing Koopa through the air, and he tossed his hammer at Spartan before breathing a wall of acid in front of him, melting the bullets before they could reach him. He landed on the ground and tossed another pokegrenade near Spartan's face, and one near his feet as well.

Spartan shot one grenade in midair and vaulted over the second explosion, then veered towards Koopa. He drew the Black Blade while keeping the pulse rifle in one hand. The barrel and stock folded back, allowing for more mobility in close-quarters. He fired the rifle and swung the sword in complex attack patterns, mostly going for the limbs and joints in an attempt to hamper Koopa's movements.

Koopa attempted to step back but Spartan's attacks made it hard for him. Taking a deep breath, Koopa shot a breath of liquid nitrogen at him again, attempting to stop or at least slow down his movements as well as make an opening for his own. After he breathed the liquid he swung his hammer as hard as he could, activating it's gravity manipulation abilities in an attempt to shatter Spartan if he had been frozen.

Spartan strafed to the side, jump-jets allowing him to dodge the cone of nitrogen. He ducked under the hammer strike, then stabbed at Koopa's gut. He then rolled back and fired at his foe, knees bent so that he was ready to move at the first opportunity.

Koopa jumped backwards at the stab, and the knife pricked his gut. He gritted his teeth, before leaping once again into the air, avoiding Spartan's fire. He then leaped down onto Spartan in an attempt to tackle him, hammer in hand, while charging a breath of plasma.
