Besides, if they're in the Nebula Flying already (where they are actively searching for a known human base), then odds are they already know of human population in the nearby system anyway...

The covenant already are engaged with ships. Yes, they probably know there are UNSC forces coming at them. They may notice the blip, but guess its just regular chatter.
