On the planet of Garrus, the Covanent ship called The Redemption made landfall and launched a phantom dropping a small lance.
Meanwhile, a small squad of marines come to meet them head on in the great planes of the planet.

[Planet Garrus: Surface] The heat wasn’t nearly as bad as the humidity that accompanied it, brought by the recent rain as the marines of First Platoon made their way through the chest high grass. The marines laden with their full combat gear had dropped into the LZ with the rest of Able Company, 1st Recon, but while the rest of Able Company had set up a base camp complete with many of the light armor. The marines of First Platoon had drawn the lot on pulling a patrol through the fields, and the man leading it had been in the Corps longer than the ones delegating and giving the orders for the current mission. While the rest of Able Company reclined back in their bunks or shot back a cold one, Sergeant Major Mark “Spade” Sorelson slowly made his way through the chest high grass with nearly four dozen marines endured sweltering humidity for the last few hours and the buzzing of cicadas’ that had only recently been overtaken by the stringing of crickets. Throughout his years in the service, the Sergeant Major had witnessed a lifetime of gore and had walked many dirt and mud paths yet there had always been one thing he’d never been able to forget. Rain, heat, and even the occasional snow storm had been things he’d learned to deal with, but he’d never been able to deal completely with the ever present notion of waiting. “If we were wearing even more armor, I doubt they’d keep these gnats. The only thing worse than gnats are call telemarketers…” one of the replacement Privates by the name of Jones griped, swatting at a few gnats. “Quit your griping, Jones. You’re always griping about this or that, when you should be glad we’re at least doing something on this rock. Imagine having to deal with this humidity and the gnats while staying in one place, and I bet the boys back at the Company base camp are having to find new ways of staying cool,” another Private interrupted. “Quite in the ranks… and get down,” Sergeant Major Mark “Spade” Sorelson whispered, over a com-channel via his helmet-mic to the rest of the Platoon in the column. A hill rising at least a few meters above the plain, strewn with man-sized boulders and had a view of the nearby area lay at least a few hundred meters ahead of the column. Realizing the chest thick chest high grass could at least give his men cover if anyone had been on that hill, he’d signaled the Platoon to take cover and lay on their stomachs with their weapons ready. As expected, the nearly four dozen marines in the Platoon lay on their stomachs with their weapons at the ready, scanning the horizon as Mark used the binocular function of his HUD and zeroed in on the hill as he felt the cool dirt through the front of the armor plating.

Zelia peaked over the rock and noticed about a couple of marines lying on their stomachs in the grass. He thought to himself that he had jepordized the entire mission for he gave away his position. Kneeling down, he gave the order to the major grunt on the other rock to prepart to open fire.
As his heart began to beat rapidly and his muscles beginning to tense, he quickly went outside of his cover and began to shoot at the marines at the floor with his plasma-repeater as well as his comrades. He ordered the signal for his small grunt squad to attack, meanwhile, Aiadi came out and began to fire on the marines in front of him with his dual plasma-rifles.
As on mark, the grunt major started to run out into the open with 2 grunts aiding him in the assault, and 2 grunts standing behind the large boulder. Zelia than threw a grenade slightly to the right of where he was standing to the enemy marine squad, largely hoping to miss the 3 grunts that began to move in but as he did this, he noticed not 5 or 6 marines on the floor, but a few dozen.
