Muram History and Current Events
The Muram is a Sangheilian clan, known to be the traditional splinter of the more pious clan, the Moram. Separating from the more vicious Moram during the 14th Age of Conflict, during the ruthless cleansing of heretical Sangheili on Sanghelios and other Covenant colonies, the Muram and Moram separated after a internal confliction of leaders, mainly between the brothers-Ragat ‘Moramai and Huj’kha ‘Moramai-who saw two sides of their existences; Ragat believed in the total surrender and loyalty to the Covenant whilst Huj’kha was a practitioner of the old traditions of the clan whilst still as devoted to the Covenant faith.
By the end of the conflict, Ragath and Huj’kha killed one another in a furious duel, and in respect of the two’s fervor beliefs, their followers separated, as the Moram remained on the military world, Decided Heart, whilst the renewed Muram returned to their ancestral grounds on Sanghelios, in the vast deserts and savannahs on the far east continent of Kamrii.
The Return to the Desert
Since the deserts weren’t the most populated compared to other lands, the Muram found it easy to claim their home, but were forced to adapt to the desert’s temperament and deadly creatures as well as fend off other nomadic tribes in the desert.
In addition to worshipping the Forerunners, the Muram clan recognized the spirits of their fallen ancestors who died for honor and valor, viewing their honor, not just in kills in general, but to preserve them with ghastly trophies from body parts-commonly skulls and other bones.
By the beginnings of the 12th Age of Discovery, the Muram became a noticeable clan in the east, having become deadly hunters from conquering the desert’s harsh heat, its icy nights, and more importantly, the creatures that lurked, and have started absorbing other tribes to their own leadership, after several conflicts naturally.
Building the Future
Led by the 4th Kaidon of the fledgling clan, Tuk ‘Muramai, the clan slowly began to settle in the bordering savannah at the edge of their desert territories.
Yet in their slow settling, another tribe intercepted them, claiming it to be their land. With that a grueling battle erupted that lasted five years. In the end, the victorious Tuk took the bloody skull of the opposing tribe’s kaidon and adorned it to his throne as his clan took the land for his own. Acknowledging their rival’s strength and valor, Tuk allowed the survivors to integrate into the clan, strengthening the bloodlines and allowing less chance of interbreeding.
In this glorious victory, Tuk had the settlement complete and had a magnificent keep built on the edge of a mountain that bordered the savannah and deserts in his honor, using the strength of the clan and captured slaves from nearby tribes to build it.
The construction finished by the 50th year of his rule, but he had only a day to enjoy his legacy before dying of natural causes. Continuing his legacy as the Father of the Keep, Tuk was the first Kaidon to be placed in the Sacred Tomb of the True, built in a neighboring hill that led to an extensive cave system after the connation of the 2nd Kaidon of the strengthened clan- the ruthless Q’Gu ‘Muramee, a former Zealot of the Covenant before receiving a crippling wound in combat, decided to retire to the newly-built keep after his injury.
The Sacred Tomb of the True was built three years after the completion of the keep, having been a work in progress since the 6th year of the construction of the keep. It represented the preservation of the most honored members of the clan, forever remembered as the guiding spirits of the clan-ascending as personal champions of the Forerunners-with their legend scribed in the Muram Saga. Many try to match their valor but few enter the tombs.
Q'Gu the Arrogant's Downfall
Under Q’Gu’s rule, the warlord commanded for the clan to expand more for total control of the small continent of Kamrii, the expansion worked for most of his campaign, absorbing more tribes to the clan, and completely annihilated those who refused to join.
Since the tribes weren't as significant and modern compared to the more larger and stronger clans from other continents, the confliction was overall ignored by the Covenant as it continued to widely search for new Forerunner relics.
Despite its advantage, the invading clan came to a stalement when the handful of tribes and clans left collected into a single faction to fight off the growing horde. Each side has its own strength and weaknesses, but neither could overcome the other lastingly.
Until the rash Q’Ku and his followers decided to strike head-first into battle, which allowed their opponent to defeat the brutish Kaidon and capture him whilst his supporters where killed off.
In great dishonor and humiliation, the defeated Kaidon killed himself, which proved to be a lasting mark for the Muram; they were meant to be hunters, strike when the opportunity came and withdraw till it comes again. Never strike head first or end up losing your head.
Zaku the Pure
Q’Ku’s fourteenth son, and the more patient and beloved commander, Zaku ‘Muramai took command and immediately called for a truce between his clan and the remnants or more bloodshed would occur. It was difficult but it came to an agreement that the Muram was return to their original lands, with a few additional at the agreement of the absorbed chiefs, and leave the rest be.
In an age of personal purity, Zaku left his father’s corpse, finding him to be just another Moram brute, then a true Muram hunter. At his return, he allowed all of the affected clans to return to their former lives at their whim or return with the clan as a whole.
Miraculous in moment, most of the absorbed remained, whilst other returned to their homes. With no ill to the defected, Zaku remained content. After a few years under his rule, Zaku helped better the clan’s losses, and had a large summoning of the clans in the continent to gather in his keep.
With benevolence and wisdom beyond his years, Zaku had a Covenant soldier of a different bloodline of the Muram to become his heir before ordering the deaths of his siblings and himself to end his father’s disgraced blood.
In this large execution to bewildered everyone, as the bodies were dispensed into the deserts as a offering to their paternal disgrace but Zaku’s body was entombed alongside his fellow Tuk, remembered as the Guardian of Purity.
The Kingdom of Muram
His heir, the brave Covenant warrior Uwaz ‘Muramee, in Zaku’s sacrifice, had asked for a beneficial alliance between all of the clans and the Muram clan, to which everyone agreed to.
By the time of absorption of the Unggoy and the betrayal of the last honored Arbiter, Fal ‘Chavamee, whose clan was ally to the Muram from overseas, the Muram have become the most powerful kingdom of Kamrii besides the coastal, and more quickly financed, Aquir Clan.
Since their growth of power, the Muram clansmen were recognized as relentless and skilled hunters of sentinents and beasts, easily becoming feared assassins and spies for the Covenant, as well as devoted warriors.
Unlike most clans, the Muram focused as many weapons besides the traditional sword, especially the staff. When the armsmen of Qikost started to manufacture the energy sword, blacksmiths of the clan helped in designing the extremely rare energy staves, but the preference of swords became a overwhelming factor in the market, forcing the staves to be rarities for the rare spearmen.
Current Events
Now, in the 9th Age of Reclamation, S'Ki ‘Muramai rules the Muram with the multi-clan elders as viziers of his court.
Having claimed the title of Kaidonship at a considerable age of 35 due to his extensive political skill and charisma, along with his martial skills as a Zealot, like his predecessor Q’Ku, S'Ki is the step-brother of the more famous Ship Mistress A’dita ‘Muramee (formerly Saburee), who commands the CCS-class cruiser Spear of Zaku with a deep determination and a iron fist that demands the respect and loyalty of her crew, which she receives. Yet A’dita’s true legacy is born with the birth of her only child, Til ‘Muramee, to her long-deceased husband Hoji ‘Muramee.
Placing her son in S'Ki’s care, A’dita returned to the battlefield as her more political brother remained to teach Til the ways of Muram, becoming one of the youngster’s most beloved mentors as he grew up in the common rooms with Battlemaster Avirum as his teacher. In his years, Til grows to be one of Avirum’s finest students, and soon he was put in the prestigious Shaleel War College on the colony world Devoted Hope to train as one of the best warriors of the Covenant.
The young Til took to his teachings like second nature, but remain indifferent and respectful to all he encountered, impressing his teachers enough to be elected into the ceremonial gladiatorial arena of Shaleel Champions but he refused, despite knowing it would bring Til much prestige in the eyes of his clan and the Covenant military, seeking to earn his way into the higher tier of the Covenant from his own skill and determination.
From the lowly rank of Minor Domo under the Major Domo Rakath ‘V’Keelaii, Til swiftly climbed the ranks of the Covenant from what he vowed-skill and determination-but he have endured a quick and mentally devastating series of events that caused his usually calm and respected demeanor to become one of a fanatic madman as he indirectly caused the rise of the Heretics led by Phma and Rakath during his last years as a Major Domo like his former mentor before joining the Special Operations branch-accepted for his unbelievable merit and devotion to the Covenant-to become a Special Operative.
In the few years in the deathly operations of the more rigorous Spec Ops, Til was given the opportunity as an assassin, hunting down and killing several suspected heretics and human leaders before his skills were caught by the newly-appointed High Inquisitor R’ha ‘Katolai, who tested and approved the young assassin to become a Inquisitor of the Reticent Lance, but in doing so, his connections to his clan in the public and political eyes of the Covenant have been completely severed, but he have been honored by having his triumphs carved into the Muram Saga and war poems as a war hero and the One hundred and nineteenth Grand Hunter of Muram-a honorary title that bestowed to few and nearly rivals the glory of a Arbiter in the Muram Clan's eyes- inspiring many of his fellow clan brothers to train harder and become legends of their own.
With the legendary accomplishments of this single warrior, the Muram have grown in power that rivaled their coastal cousins with the trading done by Qikost merchants and dealings of Prophets.
Now, the Muram Clan have taken a few more foreign tribes into their bloodline, giving more modern training to the younglings due to the increase of the clan, and the demand of land starting to grow with it, amongst the younglings is the five-year-old twin sons of the Inquisitor, who are ignorant to their father almost completely, excluding the fact that they believe him to be a distant uncle.
