((So, I thought it would be interesting if my character and Dave's and Kill's character knew each other, and go way back when Shepard was 17...a year before he decided to join with the UNSC - all of which was with the help of the Admiral. Anyway, for now, it's just me, Dave, and Kill. If I can fit someone else in here, I'll think about it...might be during a mission they were on.))
The Commander sat there at a small table in the bar, away from other people, so he could think. His light blue eyes stared melancholy, and a little bit drunkenly at the glass filled with Vodka in front of him. Even if he was on break, he wouldn't drink that much; never know when he would be needed. Shepard glanced around for a moment, there were other marines here, and most of the other ODSTs were in their small groups by themselves. He never really understood why that even happened, as it reminded him of how high school was - stupid with their small groups, and everyone didn't like each other. Then again, his school was in the city, and everyone pretty much hated each other and fought.

Dave had entered the bar, decidedly thirsty and also bored. Being at a desk job wasn't very plentiful in the action department. All they wanted him to do was paperwork and theoretical scenario's involving winning at every turn.
Looking around, he saw that the place was full. Like a sardine can. Dave considered leaving when he saw an empty spot at a table in a corner that had a somewhat down character sitting away from the others.
Something nagged at the Admiral to go and talk to the kid. So Dave went and ordered a scotch, then proceeded to go up to the table and rapped lightly on the smooth surface to get the young mans attention.
"Mind if I sit here son?"

Shepard looked up, the sound of the Admiral's glass bringing him out of his deep thoughts. He blinked, realizing who the older man was.
"Admiral Vardy?" He quietly exclaimed. He was surprised to see him here. "Kinda shocked to see you here with us...then again, it's kinda shocking that a Commander like me isn't with the other ranking officers lounge." He shrugged, chuckling a bit. He then quickly nodded. "Oh, sure. Have a seat, sir."

"Damned kind of you." Dave grinned, sitting down.
After a sip of his scotch, Dave put the glass down and looked into the Commander's eyes. They looked troubled... in thought.
"Whats on your mind son?" Dave asked. "Anything I can help with?"

Shepard glanced down at his untouched, but third glass of alcohol, and then returned his gaze at the Admiral.
He sighed, and answered, "Just thinking, sir." He paused, taking a sip of his drink. "This war isn't going to end, and it's pissing me off. So, I end up thinking about my past missions."

"Sometimes son... the past is best to be left the past. I know. I've seen some bad stuff in my time. Not pretty" Dave said, shaking his head at the collective memories that came up.
"The war is a long one yes, but we gotta keep strong." Dave continued.
Looking down at his glass, Dave gulped down the rest of his drink, wincing at the burn as it went down. Typical bar scotch.
Looking back at the Commander, David looked at him. "Pissed off huh... I assume you take your aggression out on the battlefield?"

"Yeah," He explained, "I do pretty much take out my aggression out on the field, and when I do, I become intense and focused, and so does my unit. I might be a hard ass, and I might make the people I'm with wary at times, but I do get the job done...and so do they."
He breathed in a sigh, and finished his drink as well.
"All of us have bad memories, but I have a few good ones," He smiled a little. "I can't say that I'll never forget how you saved me from the life of crime when I was a teen, remember?" He chuckled. "Talk about lucky back then. I know I've said this once before, but thanks, Admiral."
