Okay, last exercise! Get through this, and we can proceed to M3!  The last RP Lesson I have planned for you, which ties in with our final drill, is all about PvP. In the Main Mission, the UNSC players will be in battle with the Covenant players, and this might result in two combatants arriving face-to-face. While OOC this is just friendly competition, IC you will still need to have a convincing fight. I'd go on about how to do this, but instead we have a much more qualified member here who will take over this RP Lesson. He is without a doubt this site's all-time undisputed PvP Champion. If he isn't fighting someone or something in some way, he's probably not conscious. I give you the one the only MONKEY! Take it away! ;D |

Alright you ninnies, you’re about to get a crash course in PvP. For those of you unaware, PvP stands for Player vs. Player. It is this very ideal and important essence of Roleplay that bears the thought of an RPG. It is the opportunity and chance to fight another player of an opposing side and test your skills against one another. Think of it as a duel, a match, hell you can call it a god dang face off. The point is, it is fight, and as a fight, requires all of the following.
Fairness. You will not just barrage the opposing player with attacks, nor will you attempt injuring them without permission. This is a turn styled fight system, think back to Final Fantasy 7 if you must. Each side will take turns attacking the other and countering those attacks, and countering those counters. The point being you should not post hurting or killing your opponent unless they give you permission.
Sportsmanship. We expect you to be nice about it, if the other guy kills your character; he’s dead, no more, no less. That said, you don’t have to worry about getting domed out of nowhere, as both players must agree to PvP. You can even choose not to PvP, you priss! The point being, there is no need to fear it, but there are risks to it. When you accept a fight, you accept these risks. No use to cry about it after you lose! Seek vengeance! That said, a player can choose to spare their opponent if they so do choose to show mercy.
No Godmodding. You are not the super heavy death metal robot pirate kung fu action Jesus! Bullets hurt you, plasma hurts you, explosions kill you, and you are mortal. So don’t go saying you escaped a grenade unscathed when it exploded next to you. Same goes for bullets being shot at you, if you’re not in cover, chances are you’re screwed. Don’t like it? Then get behind cover next time. If you find yourself at a disadvantage, don’t just post about finding a conveniently placed weapon that helps you kill the enemy. Because that my students is wrong, and the staff will make you regret it. The idea is that you have to plan a strategy post by post; that causes your opponent to have no choice, but to accept your judgment. While doing this, you must also adapt to what your opponent does to you, taking in to consideration that if your plan might not work, than you’ll have to think of a new one. So want a piece of advice? Plan ahead, and adapt.
Now remember the rules. Be fair, don’t shoot or kill another player without the okay from that player. Have sportsmanship, don’t complain about getting killed, you have to accept the risk to PvP in the first place so don’t expect sympathy when you lose, and we’ll know if you’re trying to weasel your way out of it. Lastly, no godmodding. Godmodding is frowned upon, and it only gets you in trouble, so don’t do it. Be strategic, be adaptive, be prepared, these will do you plenty. That’s all maggots, now go out there and have so fun!

And remember ninjas, the average marine does not do five million back flips and then kung fu kick an elite (Monkey -_-) so not only can you be too strong, you can not be too flexible. You wanna be a ninja? Do it at home and practice on your parents kids.

I can flip when I use a wall to gain about an extra two feet. But in full gear, probably impossible. (I say probably because I have never tried or heard of anyone trying)

It will be over when all active players had an opportunity to practice PvP, then I will make a prolouge post about what happens after the test. That prolouge will be the last post of the thread, and then it will be officially over.
So that pretty much means "as soon as Monkey fights someone". Depending on how much you guys post, I can easily see this thread closed in just a few more days.

Well I guess this is the end of this thread. Negative. I think we are waiting on Ragnuk(Monkey's elite) to be approved. Negative. Do not jump to conclusions. Yes we are nearly done, but it's not over until I actually give it an ending. I will make a post shortly where GySgt Malone dismisses you guys, and then you can do whatever you want around the base, or Reach in general. Keep yourselves busy while I write up the epilogue. EDIT: Don't forget, all your NPCs were doing the same training as you guys were, they were just split into a different group somewhere else. Now that training is over, you can meet up with them again. |
