I think should a Covvie escape with the data, it doesn't necessarily mean an attack on earth. Consider the Cleric of Piety's job - searching for artifacts. There could be a range of different things that could happen given the political strife in the Covenant.

Especially if it was one of the corrupted copies that was smuggled out.

Somehow I think that there are going to be allot of summary executions of the NPC Command Staff of the Pious Charity that will cause such data to be loss, the Militant is not impressed that they didn't destroy themselves and instead allowed their vessel to be overwhelmed.
So allot of those copies will probably just end up lost...

I sincerely hope the blame rests on the ship master. Who spent his time with the Cleric of Piety going over the data...... Jerk.....

Gentlemen, I am dooing my best not to notice the apparently ever growing swarm of survivors from the Fenix, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to say something - if you keep on insisting that so many people survived despite what was essentially a tiny window of escape opportunity to allow the PC's to survive mostly the Covenant will NOTICE that large swarm that is apparently heading towards the cloaked ship and send vessels to kill it and reclaim it as you will be presenting a likely chance of capturing an AI.
So please go back to refrerring to it as a small group, for your own sakes.

There'd have been a chance to launch whichever fighters were in the tubes... which would amount to, for a non-carrier, probably about four strike craft at most. Escape pods would be much more numerous... and maybe a couple of Pelicans, but you really can't launch that much stuff in a hurry when the ship is blowing up.
Not only is a 'large swarm' pretty much impossible, but it'd also get you all killed.

Well, arguably covenant vessles emerge from slipspace powered down (Due to poor power management of their technology).
So if he gave the order straight away (Which he posts that he did the moment the fleet emerged from hyperspace), then he would have a few minutes before they powered up, detected his presence, powered weapons and then fired.

See this? This is called one mod and an admin telling you what occurred, as it happened there was specified to be minimal time to evacuate - and even if you start claiming to the latter, you would now be overwhelmed by covenant fighters.
I'd say its your choice between death and PC survival, but it really isn't what happened happened and you'll have to live with it.

Plus, it specifies the pinpoint micro-jumps... not the major trans-system ones.

Look, i have read about the "Swarm of survivors" As you must see, i did not bring them up, Saber did, so i went along with it being a RP is supposed to be YOU making your story, not someone else make yours, so my NPC's are controllable by my designated players, so this is what happened, now what you seem to forget (And im not going to argue about this) Is that abroad decided to kill my ship, which from what i know was a violation of rules.
In the rules it states that another player cannot "kill" your character, or ship, only the owner can, (Please correct me if im wrong, but this seems like common sense), meaning they choose to survive or not (though i would still allow my ship to be destroyed because of the occasion). And in my opinion to make things fair I allow a lot of my crew to survive for this break in conduct. Now you can get mad all you like at me, tell me im wrong, quote im wrong, but this still seems VERY unfair to do to another, mod, admin, or regular player.
So as i say, allow my current crew to survive (not including if you send fighters to pick us off) to compensate for this break in the rules. I know this message is late for the situation because i don't check the OOC often.

Do you see this green around my name, do you see the fact that the character that killed you was in the NPC section? Yes? Now shtum, unless you want all your characters to die by a massive retcon where the Covenant don't dismiss you as a minor problem and instead tear you apart with combined battery fire?
Which do you prefer Newblood? The nice consequence for your ridiculously bad IC decisions, or the harsh ones that impact in your entire crew being horribly torn apart by overwhelming covenant numbers....
There is no point in RPing if you can act without any consequences, you had a choice to make a sensible decision, but instead you dragged an entire covenant battle group into a covert UNSC operation, and as such found yourself sticking out like a sore thumb in their cross-hairs when they jumped into the system.
Giving you a few moments to get the player characters off of your ship was the nice decision I as GM could have taken. These actions came with full sanctioning from an Admin, so I suggest your complaints are best placed elsewhere and you accept what fate you wrought on yourself.
Roleplaying without consequence is godmodding, and does not reflect the attitudes of at least a few of the new management, so cope. There's no creativity in creating a self-generated hero fantasy, your correct, we didn't kill your PCs because we don't want to execute PCs even when they make massive f-ups, but you expended your NPC's and your Ships as a result of your actions, if you want to go down with your ship, please, we'll delete all of the posts since the escape and do it that way.
